Orrville Red Rider Football 2011

Coach 08WOW could you imagine if the baseball team beats Triway, that would mean that Orrville knocked out Triway in football, basketball and now baseball in the tourny run this year. That would have to be hard to swallow if you wear the purple!

Git R Done!! haha It's always a great day when you beat purple. -
RedRider1Baseball game vs. Triway moved to Friday at 4pm at Norwayne. There was talk of moving it to a nicer field (Coll. of Woo), but don't think it was ever more than talk.
District track meet starts today....hearing that this will be the last district meet at Orrville for 2 years. The reason given is the construction of the new high school, but i think our deteriorating track has something to do with it also. People I've talked to say the OHSAA is saying it will come back to Orrville after a two-year break, but don't know if that's a guarantee or not. -
Riderwannabewonder where the meet will go to
-
FlashIt will go to Norwayne for 2 years. Don't have enough parking with the new construction. Are going to get new Aluminum light poles and lights for the field if it passes at the meeting tonight.
-
OQBWas field turf talked about in the meeting tonight?
Why can't we just ask Smucker's already?? -

New lights too? Thought those were fairly new? Either way, it will reallly spruce up the look of the field.
I want new track, scoreboard, restrooms & separate locker facilities (maybe connected to the multi-purpose bldg) before field turf.......my opinion is get everything else done first, then go for the big prize. -

Nice so what you are saying is that in 30 weeks we will have state title #2? It is a realistic possibility but it does all start week 1 against NW who I believe will be the best team we play all year. I coach a little league baseball team in Canal FUlton and that town is buzzing about their team this year they are loving being out of that conference and being an independent. They are saying this will be their best team in a decade. Go Riders!!! Cant wait -
5knotsNW, Copley, Lex all loaded. we need a couple of those for sure.
-
FlashRR1 , you are corrrect about the lights , but the bids came under estimates and the new lights will give us an estimated 20-30 % increase in Ft.- candles (light measurement unit) and eliminate some dead spots. Turf has been discussed before, but due to tight finances isn't being considered to be funded by taxpayers.

FlashAccording to the DR Kyle Simmons has signed with the Nurenburg Rams as a quarterback. Good Luck, Kyle.

Talked to him last week about this, sounds like a good deal and another opportunity to play some football. On another note, I heard today that Brad Thomas is now back at Ashland and was throwing in the mid 90's and has scouts looking at him pretty heavy....now for Orrville to have 2 guys in the past 3 years being looked at by baseball scouts that's pretty impressive. -

RiderwannabeHeard today that LB Matt Davis got a D1 offer from UNIV.of Buffalo, is that true
-
Old Riderwannabe...yes indeed according to my sources. Ball State has been in also looking at Mason and others.

Notice Sam was 3rd to a boy from Genoa Area, curious if he played football against Sam. -

He was one of their linemen.
Eastern Michigan offered Mason over the weekend too. The Davis offer from Buffalo was a little unexpected, but very deserving. I guess the Buffalo scout saw Matt in the weight room and THEN watched him on film. If there's ever a reason for kids to get in the weightroom, that's it. Never know what college is going to come calling. -

BRFInteresting article, RRT. I wonder if he got any flack for not going out his senior year. I don't think that would happen here (him not going out again with those creds).

Well since they played jayvees and punted on 1st down to keep the scores down he probably wouldn't have been needed much in football -

Ok, I LOL'ed........ya Tribe hater! -
1_beastHi guys!!!!

RedRider1Good luck to Stew, Drew, Tre, Sam, Joel, Nicole & Alexa at the state track meet tomorrow.
How about a freshman going to state in boys track? Doesn't happen every year. Maybe Zook could be a kid to get some carries at running back this year? Can't have Mason running the ball 20+ times a game AND playing every down on defense. Having Davis or Zook (or someone else) be able to run the ball along with Mason would be a nice luxury.
Hearing that sophomores (now that school's out, that's what they are) Harrison Brown and Trevor Summers are being molded into linemen. Good for them. Sacrificing for the good of the team. -
5knotsSummers especially is just too good not to have on the field as much as possible. May only be a temporary move for him this year, but he will be dynamite as a guard with his athleticism. Brown, similar situation...to have a guy who played QB be able to move up front...even if only for a year or so is good news. That is where the game is played. I could also see Zook get reps at tail back as well. Here again, too good of an athlete to not have on the field as much as possible.
The only part I disagree with RR1 is the "sacrificing for the team" part. Any chance you have to be on the field in a Red Rider uniform as a sophomore is not a sacrifice at all. We have proven athletes in front of these guys...they have every opportunity to beat them out for that position...if they don't at that spot you either stand on the side and watch or learn a position where you can help win. That is the goal here! Win!
