Is it time for private schools to have theyre own playoffs in football

I don't know why people don't choose Mooney and Ursuline over say WGH or Fitch. But they do. Whatever the reason. Maybe it's a playing time thing. Maybe the kids don't want to deal with the tougher academics. Maybe the parents cannot afford to purchase the required school uniforms. Maybe some people hate Catholic schools as much as some of you guys on here and refuse to send their kids there. Maybe one kid decides he wants to go to WGH and his group of friends decides they want to stay together in high school instead of splitting up. Who knows people's reason for not choosing Mooney or Ursuline. I sure as hell wish they would pick Mooney or Ursuline every time. But they don't. That's just how stuff goes. Maybe there's a reason we'll never really know...like the kid that went to Catholic grade school and then to Mooney, but just transferred at the end of last year to Austintown Fitch (he probably would have gotten good PT at RB this year for the Cards, too instead of riding the bench behind Will Mahone).redstreak one;986867 wrote:But why dont these kids choose Mooney and Ursuline. All we hear is how great the academics are there and the environment for a kid to be the best they can with great underpaid staff and very little in facilities. The parents have to get these kids to these other public schools via their own transportation so that isnt the issue. Why arent these kids using these vouchers to go to Mooney and Ursuline? If I were a parent of a kid in Youngstown in their crappy public school I wouldnt send them to another average public school, you better believe I would get my kid there, but their numbers barely fluctuate with tuition not being the problem, why arent they growing? I know the answer, but I want some of you guys to say it! lol
And Mooney is growing. In case you didn't notice, they have jumped up from Div IV to Div III recently. And if they keep winning, kids will continue to want to be a part of it and keep showing up at the doorstep.
I'm interested to hear, since you know the answer, what it is. Because I just provided a number of very realistic possibilities. But please...tell me what you think it is. I already know your answer, and I guarantee that my possibilities are more realistic than your conspiracy theory. -

You want me to say it Ill say it Mooney won no more excuses . if we cant overcome turnovers and bad calls and whatever else comes our way then its not ment to be .. We didnt overcome adversity at the right time congrats . -
genghis dongHow did Pick Central beat St.X. They must have brought in players from all over the state. Right? They won they have to be cheaters? Cause there is no way a public school can beat a private school right? Or maybe they were a better team? See skank good teams can beat privates just cause those buch of has beens in Massillon can't do it doesn't mean it can't be done. Or that there is an unfair advantage.

Yep, hang your hat on the St. X Pick Central game, I guess I'll hang mine on the fact that BEFORE that game, D I Parochials were 8-0 vs publics. Btw, it's buNch, not buch, you got Rain Man helping you with your posts? -
sherm03Right now, there are only two parochials left in the playoffs, St. Iggy and Mooney. So you whiners are guaranteed AT LEAST 4 state titles, this year.
Does that mean that this off-season we aren't going to have to hear you guys bitching and whining about how unfair it is? Can you now at least realize that it's high school football, and things go in cycles. All your complaining and whining all year long about how unfair things are and how the big bad private schools cheat and win all the state titles was just that...nothing but complaining and whining. Now you have the possibility to win all 6 titles, and will definitely win at least 4.
But keep complaining thickythick and skankers. You've ignored facts and stats all this time. I'm foolish for thinking you'd ignore the results from this year, too. -

I can only speak for Mooney and their enrollment is growing, thankfully. There is room for about 200 more students without adding staff or new classrooms. Please contact as many possible students you know to investigate the opportunities at Cardinal Mooney High School.redstreak one;986867 wrote:But why dont these kids choose Mooney and Ursuline. Don't even bother with that guy, Dean. He completely ignored my post with realistic possibilities as to why a kid or parent might choose WGH or Fitch over Mooney or Ursuline. Guy is just a Catholic school hater, and things he had some awesome revelation that fits his conspiracy theory. But that clearly got shot down before he was even able to bring it up.Dean Wormer;989246 wrote:I can only speak for Mooney and their enrollment is growing, thankfully. Why such negativity in your posts? Division I, Publics 1 Parochials 8. Yeah, it's cyclical, we should be celebrating the fact that in D I we won 1 out of 9 games so far this season? -
landshark0731After watching this debate go back and forth since i've joined the Chatter. I would like to provide some input. Each team can only field 11 players . Coaches have 25 seconds to call there plays. Seems to me whether its a public school or private school. the rules of the game are the same. Now, if player A wants to be better than player B, There are many options available. You could work on strength ,agility and simply learning the game. This would also apply to the respective Coaches.Anything can happen during 48 minutes of play,That is why you play the game.

Excellent post. However you make too much sense therefore Thick and Skank will totally ignore you. If you think that hard work and good coaching beats some unseen sinister parochial school agenda they will mark you down as one of the "parochial 7". -

Yes, excellent post, I'm quite sure that it will place Worm and Rain Mans lips directly on your hind quarters. However, your post lends the thought that every school is equal based on the premise of hard work and desire. -

I highly doubt that the other Public Schools in the playoffs give one good crap about you -
BlueJAnother instant classic between Marion and DSJ last night. ML winning 21-14 after going 77 yards with under 2 minutes to go to score with 32 sec left and getting the 2 point conversion. You people who want separate playoffs are trying to take away a fantastic playoff rivalry between two great schools.

You're right, they're too busy trying to keep the parochial school coaches from poaching their kids. -

Your team was actually found guilty of recruiting violatins by the OHSAA.skank;989389 wrote:You're right, they're too busy trying to keep the parochial school coaches from poaching their kids. -

Yeah, actually, that was not too long after Gerry Faust rented one of his OWN houses to a family from Texas because they had two stud football playing sons.
What's wrong with this picture? -

Why do have to bring up Faust when your team cheated. That's right your team was found guilty. Mooney never was UHS never was. I know it's a big conspiracy by the OHSAA to make sure the private schools win. Maybe you should call Jesse Ventura and he can do a show on it for you.skank;989440 wrote:Yeah, actually, that was not too long after Gerry Faust rented one of his OWN houses to a family from Texas because they had two stud football playing sons.

I know you're not the smartest guy on here, but please try and keep up. It's called IRONY, the great Gerry Faust actually rents a home that HE owns....To a family from TEXAS, still with me? For the simple fact that said family, has two sons, who are both, VERY good, at playing football. Nothing suspicious there huh? Oh, did I mention that the two football players played football for....Gerry Faust. -
