RECRUITING! I've heard many......

Or it could be because of the 7 county all star team from Cleveland, or the Tri state all star team from Cincy back in the day. Playing those two, with the kids from all over....it sure seemed like they had 22 on the field at one time....But you see Mooney play every week, I'm sure you know what I mean. -
FairwoodKingskank;539894 wrote:Hence the "parochial advantage". I could talk slower for you, but I can't type slower, so I don't know what to tell you.
Div. III Steubenville can beat the parochials but Div. I Massillon can't. That's what you are telling me. -
skankAre you really comparing the parochials Steubenville has played to Ignatius, Moeller, Elder, St. X? Massillon has defeated Ignatius, and they would have again last year if not for the Ignatius grad in stripes. They are 2-2 in their last 4 with Moeller, they have never lost to Elder, (5-0), and they were 7 points shy of beating St. X for the title in 2005. And the last time you guys played Mooney....Well, let's just say, it got ugly....Remember?

Your boy Thinthickbigred is leading the charge against the privates right behind skank. -

He's in the minority. Most Big Red people realize that if weren't for the privates, Big Red could not fill a schedule. -

That represent 2 programs that benifit a lot from "Open Enrollment" and complain that things are unfair. LOL -

Every school in Ohio that has space to accommodate more students has open enrollment. Why would a football player from Steubenville want to transfer to Edison or Creek or Buckeye? I'm surprised we don't get every football player in the county at Big Red. -

A fan of the school with the QB from 3000 miles away is complaining that other schools gets players from all over?
Good programs will attract players. Your school was attractive enough for a family to move 3000 miles because they thought it was in his best interest. Why should he be allowed to attend the school that is in his best interest while others are not given that freedom? -
skankDarkon;539969 wrote:That represent 2 programs that benifit a lot from "Open Enrollment" and complain that things are unfair. LOL
Every school has an opportunity to take advantage of open enrollment. And since you used the words a lot, perhaps you could make your figures public, how many kids did Mass/Steub get last year as opposed to how many they lost? Can you name names? In either case, please do.
BTW, that may be our only way to even remotely compete with the parochials. It's like the OHSAA threw us a bone.
Imagine Bud Selig saying, "Yeah, we know there are a bunch of guys on steroids, and we don't allow YOU GUYS to do it....But here's some extra weights and some extra machines, do your best to keep up." -

I think you missed my point.
Mass. and Stueby benifit greatly from "Open Enrollment" and then I see some of them complaining about privates getting players.
You can't have it both ways. LOL -

The difference between you and I? You KNOW how he ended up here, yet you choose to try and mislead others on this site as to how it happened. I speak the truth....BTW, have you had a chance to read the PD article about the "skills camp" the Cleveland area parochials hold every year? It's only about a year and a half old by now. Good reading. -

I guess my complaint, if you want to call it that, is the lengths that the parochials are allowed to go to get these kids. If a public school coach, fan or booster went this far, they would probably be arrested for attempted child abduction.
And there are limitations on open enrollment. -
skankBy the way Darkon, if you get a chance to read the PD article I mentioned previously, do it. You won't be able to put it down.

Link?
I'll check it out. -
skankI'll try to find it in the next couple of days, I read it in the actual paper I believe just previous to the beginning of LAST season.

I have no idea how the kid ended up there. I know the family moved 3000 miles so that he could play football there. It is their decision, and they have a right to do that.
Many school have camps. Here is a link to a combine skills camp that Massillon had.

skankOr....the family moved 3,000 miles so his dad could keep his job. It's your story, tell it any way you want.

Do you mean a family made a decision that was in their best interest? Shouldn't everyone have the freedom to do that? -

I believe you're getting a combine that is BEING HELD at the Paul David complex, to get kids noticed for college, confused with one that is being used to try to attract prospective 8th graders to choose one paroch over another. -
skankYes, but without the persuasion.

I'm sure those 8th graders that they test with "special request" are helping the kids get noticed for college. -
skankYeah, you're right, maybe those numbers end up in the hands of guys like Spect, Kyle and Fecko.

Rocket08It's just hilarious watching skank whine and moan about the things that Massillon has been doing for years, but unfortunately not so well anymore
Your reign is over buddy, has been for a long, long time.
If anyone from your community wants to see a State Championship trophy, they have to visit another school.
It's over for you, has been for a long, long time
I got 7, you got nothin

You got 7? You mean State Titles or kids from other school districts? Just kidding....We all know if we were talking about kids from other school districts, the number would be WAY WAY WAY higher than that.
You never completed the homework assignment I gave you. I'll repeat it one last time.
You explain to me how a school like Ursuline, and like Mooney for that matter, can compete with the big boys year in and year out. Should your explaination satisfy me. I lay off the recr....er, I mean, "parochial advantage" mantra. Should your explaination be filled with the normal reteric, I've only just begun. This assignment is due before a private school coach comes knocking at my door, mistakenly thinking I have a 15 year old son who is 6'2" 240lbs, and runs a 4.3 40. Tick....tick....tick....Better hurry, could be any minute now.
I got 22, you got 7

If that coach comes knocking don't agree to go there. If you hold out a long enough, there are certain public programs that will hook you up with a job and even move your entire family 3000 miles if it helps to close the deal.skank;541296 wrote:You got 7?
