Fingers crossed...going to OSU/PU Saturday. Need sunshine Friday and Saturday.
Our field is starting to show some wear (especially in the south end where the field crowns). Still in very good shape. Probably is the Taj Mahal compared to the clods of sod at Follis Field. -
OQBI think it is due to more game being played on it this year.... I still think we just need to let Smucker's have the naming rights and get Smucker Field in place (aka field turf). We are about 2 years away from it though....

1 person calls you a donkey, you laugh at them. 2 people call you a donkey, it might be time to start shopping for saddle blankets. -
SinisterMinisterSuperman, you're my super hero!

I was not called a "donkey" ....yet, just a Bully. What should I shop for if I get called a Bully for the second time, oh great hero of sinisterminister? Bring on the game for week 9! -
SinisterMinisterC'mon BRF, I'm totally rooting for you this week. I just can't stay away. I might need a ten step program or something. Hah Bah!

BRFBelieve it or not, I actually admire you for your outstanding stick up for your team! WTG and you know we certainly have our work cut out for us!

No more than normal. The soccer team has their own field....maybe a few OABGC games, but the same number of varsity & JV games as any other year. Is the middle school playing games there too now?
Here's the question....are you willing to share the field with soccer in exchange for field turf? i know I would be. Even mighty Steubenville has soccer lines on their field.....as do most in Ohio not named McKinley or Massillon.
I did hear that the AD wants to see it happen before his time at Orrville is up.
I am surprised that Wooster hasnt started some sort of fundraising for this.....you know they'd love the status of being the first in the county with turf. -
BRF
Then it just simply MUST be done if that is his wish!RedRider1;523463 wrote:

OQBHaha BRF! Great minds think alike!
RR1, I have seen a few Jr high games in the field this year. -
BRFOh, I just put in my vote to tie it up. I hope everyone has a great Monday. Go Riders.

FlashAll the Middle school games were at the stadium. I'm thinking a school other than Wooster or Orrville will get turf first.

The only way Wooster gets turf at Follis is if the band refuses to march on grass.Flash;523815 wrote:All the Middle school games were at the stadium. I'm thinking a school other than Wooster or Orrville will get turf first. -

Really? Who? Waynedale, Dalton and Smithville are looking for levies to pass. Rittman is basically Orrville north. Chippewa plays in a community park.
So we're down to Smithville, Triway, Norwayne, Northwestern.
I could see Dalton, because they're starting to raise funds for facilities...but they have bigger needs than turf. Maybe Northwestern...but that's a long shot.
What community in Wayne Co. could raise $500,000 privately other than Orrville or Wooster? -
OQBOrrville will be the first, if Kent wants it we will get it.
Smucker's will do the match the donation thing like they did with the Multi-purpose facility. So we will only need to raise about half of the total cost. I just can't see a WCAL school getting turf in the near future, I don't see it. Orrville has been talking about getting it for about 5 years now, so they have done their research on it and know what needs done to get it, probably wait til after the new high school is built/renovated.
Orrville is a great community:
New Elementary school
New Middle School
New/Renovated High School
New Multi-Purpose Facility
Turf is just the next thing in line.... -
CCRollyIf you're worried about the turf at Follis Field now, wait until they get done driving their trucks all over it this coming weekend...
-
OQBWhat do you mean CC?
-

Why in the heck would you have a monster truck show on a football field...DURING the football season???
Whoever scheduled this was not thinking at all!!
The Wooster AD gave the approval.......go figure: ) -
OQBI'll tell the janitors to have the field ready in Orrville, I can't believe they would allow a monster truck show on the field right before the huge historical rivalry game.
-
THE4RINGZYou let them know that.
Then check your dictionary I heard they have removed the word gullible -
OQByeah it's not in there anymore
Good one, you had me going there, sad thing is I wouldn't be surprised if they actually did do this.
