WEEK 8: GIRARD ( 5-2 ) AT CAMPBELL MEMORIAL ( 6-1 )

  • reddevil90
Ok guys thanks!!! I for some reason had that thought it was. cause i remember that he sat for a qt! and remember that being a special night in red devil history. so that's why i kept thinking Adams for some reason. Thanks guys. Wow!

Ok here is one more and i don't think it will be broke this year... Who owns the outright rushing record. I am almost positive its Walt wright. was it not 1700+? Sorry i know this should be a separate thread but I have not ever in my life time seen a high school game played completely on the ground with a Qb like Lester and the wideouts we have. Now that's old school smash mouth red devil knapik football. Would not want to win any other way! That line blocked with determination.

Where is spread all day at now???? he said we don't have a good line and for sure didn't have the corners to cover girard and number 17!!! And he said Girard would dominate!!!! Who DAT say they gonna beat them devil's?

Why cant we fill the stands up?? But for the true devils fans that came to the game and the new friends i made last night i commend you all. We made noise and the chant at the end pf the game gave me goosebumps all over!!! WE ARE CAMPBELL WE ARE CAMPBELL! For all the fans that didn't make the game you missed something special last night! That game was old school red devil football! Screw that.. That was John Knapik football and i agree Old coach was looking down upon them last night!!!

Reddevil90, you mention alot of backs buddy from a three year period that were game breaking running backs. Walt was later on, but the rest pretty much all ran together. Dont forget to add Demond Drayton to that list. He was outstanding.

A few years before that group of exciting runners came another group with names like Mike Johnson, Marvin Johnson, Damon McCullough, Andre Morgan, John Gore, and running quarter Back.....Sean Smith. Glenn Land was also a hard runner when given the opportunity, as well as Sam Calderon. In this group of Backs I dont believe any of them had 1700 yards because they, like the group you mention all shared alot of carries together. However, the pioneer of this running attack that took place from 1984 to 1993 and 1999 was a man by the name of Al Craig. It was he that started it all in 1985. That year he and Marvin Johnson did something I believe no other duo did in Red Devil history......they both rushed for over 1,000 yards. But when it comes to a single season rushing record, I dont know if Walt beat Shawn Pattons mark or not. Walt may have because the only other back he had with him really was Stelio Elenis and at times Travis Stanford as a sophomore. Jonathan Brown and Chris Carson saw limited time in the backfield. But Patton had 5 backs with him in the backfield. So Walt may have the record. The same holds true for the backfields in the 40's, 50's, 60's, and so on..........a group carried the load. Walt was the man on his team.....similar to J'ales this year. If there were three games to go...I would give J'ales a shot at beating that record.

There are another group of backs from the early 90's after Deland McCullough and Carlin Adams along with Drayton and Walker graduated. But ya know what....I refuse to acknowledge that group after the bull they pulled in the 1994 season. They were the most selfish group of kids I have ever seen.

Yeah i did forget didn't i. that kid was a beast. Well about the 94 team if that's what you want to call it was selfish. That team could have went a long way but that's noting to debate anyways. i don't count 94 anyways. i had a good friend on that team that year James Bellamy. I was best friends with him in school. i was 3 years ahead of him. But the year i was in school they brought the 8th grade up to the high school. But the one player that was selfish had a brother that was a great athlete. John Wolf!!! Or as we called him in school Champ. Also thanks for the history lesson i didn't know we had 2 backs the had a 1000 the same year. Unreal.

Walt wright did indeed break the all time mark held by Shawn patton. He was also an outstanding linebacker. I wish that coach Minnie had Walt and stelio for three years. They would'vebeen that much better.

Great win! There's a guy on Yappi sports who has been doing the playoff projections for region 13. After last nights games, here is his projections: 1) manchester, 2) chagrin falls, 3) martins ferry, 4) CAMPBELL, 5) st clairsville, 6) garrettsville garfield, 7) perry, 8) lakeview.

Reddevil90, Champ ran through my mind as well. But do you know what i remember most about him? He hit guys harder than most. I mean I saw him destroy alot of people during his high school years. But I agree...he is worth mentioning as a running QB along with Leroy Gore. Shawn McKinney I remember running here and there but not as much. Shawn was a smart QB in my opinion. Very few mistakes.

Oldschool confirms that Walt is indeed the leader right now. Scary how J'ales has run for as many yards as he has in an offense that up until last week, throws the ball 65% of the time. Keep that in mind. J'ales also has a running QB.....Walt did not. If J'ales breaks the record next year there is alot of good arguments we could make about who was better and why. Can be a fun thread for Campbel huddlers to debate on. The reason why is because it will be impossible to talk about these two alone without bringing alot of other names up.

So as of right now we would play at home against St. Clairsville if this guy is right...correct sonny?
