WEEK 8: GIRARD ( 5-2 ) AT CAMPBELL MEMORIAL ( 6-1 )
-
soupcitysoldierits time for lester to have that huge breakout game weve all been waiting for
-
reddevil90I say we fill the backfield with all the speed we have #3 #7 #25!!!! Dare them to stop it! Hit the outside corners hard and block like a Mack Truck! On defense hit them into next week. dont let them have a chance to get anything going on offense. They want to bring back what happen 23 years ago then we should Finnish it and settle it tomorrow night. There is no better place then Campbell Ohio on Friday Nights!!!
-
soupcitysoldierwork with a guy from girard whos son plays...they think they got us...the statement that was made from cochran "we have no reason to think they can beat us until they do...and they havent done that in a long time." i hope soup city is ready...i hope were hyped up and firing on all cylinders. QB PRESSURE IS THE KEY TO THE GAME! dont make the same mistake the 99 team did in the first half against struthers in the playoff game...dont sit back. they have a young inexperienced line. punish the qb dont give him time to get it to smith.

reddevil90LOL i was over on jj sports and they said a few of them gave there history lesson and so did the coach. Well i hope we don't need a history lesson to know they can play dirty at times. I don't wish for any of the players to get hurt. I hope we get the win and get out healthy!!!
-
soupcity99Good luck to the Red Devils!!!
-
sooner1Hopefully Campbell's defense comes and plays tonight!
-
oldschoolreddevGameday! Good luck red devils! Prove everyone wrong and go get a piece of that championship.
Hopefully the weather holds up. -
cmhs_prideThe sun is out at times and hopefully breaks through the clouds for a clear evening sky. With all that was said this week.....bottom line is I hope we have a great game, injury free. Hit em hard all night and bring back at least a share of the title fellas. Go Devils!!
-
QuakerOatsI like the Devils, 24 - 21.
-
reddevil90QuakerOats I hope your right!!!! Good luck to Salem also! You guys are a great fan base.. We didn't stop Toothman! But Toothman had the ball in his hands on every snap. Smith wont. Cover hard and slow methodical offensive plays. Ware down the defense then explode late in the game! No piece of the championship!!! WE WANT IT ALL!!!!!!! CAAAAAAMMMPBEELLLLLLLL CAAAAAAMMMMPBEELLLLLLLL!!!!!!!
-
OhioJust contain him hit him hard take him out of the game. Give up some not to risk the 50+ yard plays and not turn the ball over and campbell will win.
-
reddevil90Half time Campbell 17. Girard 13 Campbell has had a couple Burns.

soupcity99congrats to the red devils on a big victory tonite 31-21!! Jales Hughes set a new single game record rushing for 366 yards tonite!

soupcitysoldierto all the girard posters and struthers posters talking trash....put that in your pipe and smoke it. and please pass a message on to cochran...ask him how it feels to know that the new school record happened on his watch.

BigDean1Campbell Memorial wins 31-21. Great job Devils !!! Ja'les Hughes had a phenomenal game, breaking the school record for rushing. Hats off to the Campbell offensive line, and to John Sikora and David Benedis for their blocking. The Red Devils accomplished this victory despite throwing just one pass all night long. The power I and the success of the Campbell running game kept the explosive Girard offense off the field. Defensively, the Red Devils made some key stops when they were needed. Sikora, Benedis, Bledose, Lebron, Letlow, Little, Williams, and Burnett all played well on defense, recording at least three quarterback sacks while putting the pressure on the Girard QB. Landon Smith had some big catches. But the Red Devils did a good job on a phenomenal athlete. Landon is as good as advertised. Campbell is now 7-1, in great position for the playoffs, and has clinched at least a share of the AAC-Blue. A win at Newton Falls next Friday and the conference championship belongs to Campbell outright. A decent crowd came to watch the game at John Knapick Field. But I was hoping for a better turnout.
-
cmhs_prideThe turnout was a bit dismal bigdean considering the opponent, I agree. What I did like though was the decibal level. Newton Falls game wont bring much unfortunately because of distance, a 7 o'clock start, and a Newton Falls team that has fallen on hard times this year.......far from their preseason advertising. Nonetheless we have to go in there and take care of business start to finish and grab that crown.
I thought Girard did exactly what Girard always does....brings it with everything they have. There is no quit in that team. Qb was impressive but I feel for the most part we set a tone for him early with the three sacks in the first two series.....and that tone was telling him to RUN for His Life. We pretty much stopped the run and we contained the pass. We didn't stop the pass...we contained it. Pressuring the QB and some huge knock aways and interceptions as well. It was a breath of fresh air to see number 17 and number 83 patting each other on the helmet after plays were over and at the same time getting after it on the field.
Wow did we change the game plan in that game. We threw one pass...which was defended nicely or it may have gone for 6. Outstanding blocking and running by all those involved........J'Ales Hughes.........what a performance by that young man. Wow.
I will say this.....The Devils have been on the rise for the last two seasons, but they were missing the "BIG" game win. They can now add that to their comeback into Mahoning Valley dominance. Still have alot to do for sure. Alot of pieces to still add to the puzzle. Newton Falls is a piece we cannot forget to add.....but something alot larger looms. Something that should not be looked at until week ten is here, but is very difficult not to maybe glance over your shoulder and see what is chasing you, in the form of a WildCat. -
reddevil90Ok guys i have a question? Who owned the record before Ja'les broke it? My brother is stuck on either Patton or McCullough!! And for me i think is was Walt Wright!! but i could be neither! and for some reason Karlen Adams slips into my mind. or it might be a knapik kid! Anyone have a clue?
There have been many backs I'm talking about in my time that i remember and stand out in peoples minds still today and will till the day they die! Patton McCullough Adams walker even though he was a full back but he still carried the ball and there was Walt wright And there is others! And now Mr Hughes you are one of them backs that will be in conversations for years to come.. and to think you are just a junior -

Karlin Adams was the record holder before Hughes broke it last night vs. Girard. In the 1991 game between Campbell and Struthers, played at Struthers, won by Campbell, Adams rushed for 309 yards. What is even more impressive about that yardage total was the fact that Adams did it in three quarters. He had to leave the game in the second quarter because of a large gash on one of his hands. -
oldschoolreddevCongratulations red devils! Coach knapick must be laughing up in heaven after seeing that rushing display. Jales ran hard all night and the oline finally has arrived. Now we need to take careof business next week for the outright title.
Karlin Adams held the record for rushing in a game with 309 yards in 1991against struthers for the mvc championship. Looks like lightning struck again with Jales' performance for the aac championship last night. -
OhioCampbell should get some rest this week after halftime get it done ealry and get your stars rested for the Rival game and playoff seeding.
-
TheQI'm just happy he waited until week 8 to have a record setting performance. Good luck in the playoffs!
