Week #3, Orrville (2-0) at Copley (2-0)

"5knots-Do we even have a swim team?" C'mon rrfan! read the paper once in a while. lol. In the last 2 years our men's swimming team has finished 16th and 11th in the Stat of Ohio and have earned 10 State Medals, and have had 4 All-Ohioans in each of those years. The "club" moniker is a label OHS gives us...not the OHSAA, or the OCC for that matter. the reason we retain "club" status at the local level is mostly a logistical and transportation reason. We have much more flexibility on how we get our swimmers to meets w/o costing the school any money. win-win for now.

    5knots,
it's Mike Beaven....and if I he's covering the game, I'll give him some business too if I see him.

    rrfan,
soccer won a game over the weekend. don't be coy and act like you don't have season tickets.
  • 5knots
I saw that as well.....a shut out none the less! Yea...Mike's a good guy...just a bad "picker" I hope.
  • rrfan
Good stuff 5knots. Sorry I just usually skip the soccer and swimming stuff in the paper. Not that I don't want them to win since they are from Orrville, but can honestly say have never watched either.
  • 5knots
you are forgiven. Go Riders.....shut down that potent Copley offense and we win!

Also, read the link to an Akron area site called SportsInk.com.....they say we havent seen a QB like Copley. Too funny. That's all we've seen so far is QB's who sling it all over the field.

How hard is it to do research for these guys?

Jim Isabella is the " principal of high school sports" , he picked us and knew we weren't the red raiders, .... did you notice the Orville soelling in the video :)
  • OQB
Jim Isabella doesn't usually pick us though. He rarely ever does and that makes it weird. The other two guys don't even know how to throw a football. Haha.

There is way to much Soccer talk on here today. Lets get back to football.

Riders will have a beautiful stadium to play friday. Get your work in it will not be easy and there is plenty to imporve.

    Good luck Riders.

2 years ago we broke the new turf in with the first game played on it. A Rider victory then and Rider victory tomorrow night. We may have not seen a "QB" like they have....maybe, maybe not. But i am pretty confident they have not seen a defense like we can put on the field. Limit mistakes and don't give up the big play= success....like most weeks.

I noticed it, and noted it in my preview blog.....pretty sad. They're a professional news organization. Spelling shouldn't be an issue.

Elyria Catholic and Elyria on Fox Sports Ohio tonight...7pm. EC is in our region and should be a playoff team.

    Look-y here boys.......

The Beacon Journal's preview of the Copley game....along with some love (and a link) for my blog. Cool stuff.

They probably would have linked directly to the game preview if not for my scathing words for spelling Orrville with 1 "R" in the video preview.

I will catch that. It is funny to read some posts from the EC faithful.....my guess is that like many parochial schools, they have been living in the dark ages offensively, and just winning with size and talent. Now, this yea,r EC is evidently running the spread and by listening to the fans they invented it like Al Gore and the internet. Welcome to the 21st century!

The "Principal of High Schools Sports".....Pah! I could add another comment but am now biting my tongue (fingers!). BTW, the Beacon's panel of 4 "experts" has Copley 3-1. That subject was discussed in BRF's Current Events classes today.

Gameday!!! Let's go Riders take care of business.
  • RedRider1
Daily Record picks us 9-0......oh no!!!!

    Kiss. of. Death.

I'm glad they all had their eyes opened after picking against us in week 1 and 2.....but i'd just as soon have that trend continue.

This has all the makings of a letdown game tonight.
  • THE4RINGZ
    Good luck Riders.

WOW!!!! Sounded like a hell of a game!!!! What a shame to have it end like it did..keep your heads up fellas! Bear fan still backing ya, as always!!!!

Well guys, that was a very tough one to watch. We had all the opportunities in the world, just didn't capitalize on them and we were STILL IN THE GAME! We had WAY too many fumbles on a dry turf field, no execuses for those especially when they are in your territory and give them the short field. The offense never seemed to get a real flow or rythem in the game. We had spurts where we played great and others you were wondering if it was the same team out there.

We take away those three fumbles that they turned into points, we win that game pretty easily.

Oh and I'm only going to say this one time and I am done, in the first OT, they did not score! The pass inter. should of been a no call they were both going for the ball and the receiver was out of bounds. Then on the play that they did score on the RB clearly bounced into the endzone and was down before the goalline, but was awarded the TD. Like I said we have only ourselves to blame for this, it was nothing they did to stop us. We shut their big time offense down, just couldn't tackle on that initial contact and that's how they busted some of those big runs.

This game was NOT Dylan's fault at all, I hope the boys realize it and pick him up and it was because of him that they were in this game and should've won. He did a great job tonight with the FG unit.

Good news is, we are 2-1 going into league play (which is what we usually are) and the season is still young. Copley is the best team we have faced to date, and we had that game won, we just let it "slip through our fingers" literally. They had a lot of athletes like us and we matched up well against them. They will be a playoff team this year in division II. Our lack of depth showed tonight, and that's what led to all those missed tackles, but no excuses!

Now we need to learn from this tough loss, and move on because Lexington is another very solid football team.
  • RedRider1
If not for Dylan Tanner, we don't beat Northwest. He's been kicking great this season...only thing they need to work on is getting that kick down and away a little quicker.

Thought when Max blocked that punt, we'd punch it in and hang on in the end. Not getting any points then was big.

Thought Mason and Tre both ran well in the 2nd half.....we made some mistakes and had too many turnovers...but those can be fixed.

The tough part is that next week will be no picnic....Lexington beat Canton Hoover tonight. We'll have to play near perfect to beat them.
