You gotta love the passion of these two schools. After Mooney beat my alma mader in their only state title appearance (Sheridan Generals 87), Mooney can't get beat bad enough for me. Go Big Red...........until you get to DeSales in the final.

Big Red won a game against Heard's Mooney last year, so they've been up against his speed once before...It won't catch them off guard, at least.

Big Red must have their best passing prformance of the year to win this one, as they won't be able to just run, run, run and control the game like they did against Dover...

Mooney's tough but no one is unbeatable, and Steubenville is no slouch.

Experienced QB who's seen Mooney twice and beaten them once. D is tough as ever.

Big Red lack's a deep threat, but I still like our chances. We're definately the 'dogs here, but we're ferocious dogs with a vicious bite.....

    Roll Red Roll....Beat Mooney!!!

I believe this is a bad matchup for Mooney because Big Red's strength is their run defense, Mooney is primarily a running team!
Mooney 's lines are big, strong and Slow! Big Red will be outsized but what they lack in girth they make up for in strength, speed, heart, and technique!
Big Red will need to contain on the edges! Big Red needs to force third downs and 5+ yards, if able our chances dramatically increase!
Big Red needs to limit penalties and turnovers! The Red will have to run between tackles effectively and throw alot of short passes!
Mooney has a tendency to over pursue on run every once in a while which can make them susceptible to the long ball! Mooney has good LB's and DB's the weakest part of their D is the line! They primarily like to bull rush, but they are not very fast, though extremely strong! Macon will have to make plays with his arm as well as his legs! Our O TACKLES need to get off the ball fast and turn the shoulder up field! If able to do these things adequately they should have no problem scoring!
Mooney will need to contain Macon and come strong off those edges!
Mooney has to be disciplined against the option and watch for the short pass! If able to keep Macon in the pocket and limit scrambling their chances increase. Mooney needs to get a good push off the LOS and establish a run game! If Mooney can get good yardage running it will open up the screen and out routes! If Mooney can do these things successfully they should be able to win this game!
I believe this game will be very competitive!
But I think BR balance on O will be the X factor in this game!

    My prediction:

    BR -20
    CM-14

    ROLL RED ROLL
MAY THE BETTER TEAM WIN IT ALL THIS TIME!

HERE'S TO AN INJURY FREE SLOBBER KNOCKER!

I think this will be a great game. The past two games have not lived up to the hype. I think Big Red fans that remember last year's team might see a little difference. 1 year has made a huge difference in many of the junior starters from last year.

Best of luck to the Cards this week, whoever wins this will have to be on top of their game. Everyone talks about Heard who is a great runningback but I believe there are a few others that Mooney plays in the backfield that could impact this game. Gentlemen, practice hard, injury free, and remember winners go on to the state finals, losers are off next weekend.

Well, about 1/2 way through the 3rd.qtr., after Coach Sac has exhausted his supply of football players (through the 8th grade), stat people, and band members, he nonchalantly sends out some of the cheerleaders. And cheerleaders, having been on the field before, know their roles. But accidents happen, pompoms are dropped. A couple of miscues later, and Mooney gets a safety.
After the game, Coach Reno tells the cheerleaders that due to their ineptness, they will never play another football game in his regime again!

And thus starts the legend of "The Night The Cheerleaders Cried".
