Ohio Cardinal Conference 2010

  • THE4RINGZ
To avoid confusion and so we don't have to filter through posts irrelevant to our OCC I am starting a thread to discuss the Ohio Cardinal Conference 2010 football season.

    Let the games begin.
  • Coach 08
Yea you had some real winners on the other thread LOL! I think the league will be another year of solid games. I like Orrville, Ashland, and Clear Fork to be at the top. Not sure on what either Mansfield team will bring this year I know they have been down, and Lex lost some key players. As for Wooster and West Holmes I see them being down also.

What confusion? I didn't see 1 post regarding a non-Ohio Cardinal Conference team on the other thread. Haha!
  • THE4RINGZ
Just trying to keep it simple for you mullet haired tobacco chewing fans of a weak D2/D3 league.
  • Tiernan
The Cardinal Division of the OCC should be strong with Big Walnut looking to rule again in 2010.
  • THE4RINGZ
Ha Ha. Guess fair is fair.
  • CCRolly
And in a shocking turn of events, I will play the role of Tiernan in this thread when I say, "Big Walnut couldn't carry the jock staps for our 7th grade football team." Fair is truly fair.
  • THE4RINGZ
CC you have been reading too much Orrville smack talk on here. We are from Wooster and this is football talk.
  • CCRolly
My friend....all we have in Wooster is smack talk when it comes to football. You know how it goes...."don't bring it....sing it!" :)
  • Tiernan
Big Nut will be in the hunt come November like they have been 4 straight years. Let's see which Card Conf team made it past first round last year...hmmm...can't remember...oh yeah that's right...NONE!
  • THE4RINGZ
    Except for Ashland and Orrville
  • thePITman
You'd think if someone was trying to talk smack, they'd actually do some research or know what they're talking about.

    +1

Ashland will probably win the pre-season poll. They've got Fuller and their D is always ready to go.

Wooster has a scrimmage 7/14 at Northwestern that includes Triway. When is Wooster's other scrimmage and who do they face ?

Is this a 7-on-7 or a scrimmage? Last year we had a 7-on-7 with Wooster but wished we would have had a full-out scrimmage. If it's a real scrimmage this year, Kudos to Coach Lee for scheduling up in the pre-season. It can only make us better. Can't wait until we can get out and see our kids in action!

Triway plays Wooster in 7 on 7 and also a full go scrimmage. They scrimmaged Wooster last year full go with pads. It was the night of the Chicken BBQ. Northwestern was also there.

Oh, duh. I was there! Total brain fart. Thanks for the reminder.

Saw on the WCAL thread that Orrville's supposed to be getting a transfer from Norwayne and I heard one from Wooster that was a very good reserve basketball player. Don't know if he plays football.
  • CCRolly
Flash, any idea who the kid is from Wooster? If so, private message me.
  • THE4RINGZ
I think the Norwayne transfer is just a rumor. He is good but would need to step his game up several levels to be competitive as a QB in the OCC. IMO his best bet is to stay put and be a superstar where he is at rather than transfer and be an also ran.

If I were a football player who has aspirations of playing at the next level and looking for a good fit I would jump all over a chance to be a Red Rider. We have College coaches crawling all over the place and have for about the last 2-3 years. What better example than our DE/OLB that played 6 varsity games last year and gets 10+ Division I offers as the season ends even after a verbal commitment to Indiana. We have a Coach and two kids that started in the Big 33 Game....only Glenville had as many representatives. As the college circuit goes Orrville is hot right now. Doesn't mean they won't find you where you are...but it is pretty nice when they come looking for you instead. It is a testament to our coaches and program how our boys performed at Big 33 among the Blue Chippers from the 2 states. We have a head coach who can pick up the phone and call about every major college program in the entire Midwest and be recognized. On top of that he will work his butt off to help you find the right fit for your college career both on and off the field.
  • thePITman
So how did the Orrville boys do in the Big 33? I haven't seen any stats from that game so don't know tackles, catches, etc. Just saw that Ohio won.
  • THE4RINGZ
I am not disagreeing with that fact that Orrville is the premier program in the area for many reasons other than the ones you just stated. My point is in this particular situation is the kid really good enough to play at that level and make an impact? You would admit that the level of talent Orrville plays against is leaps and bounds tougher than what any WCAL team plays.

I guess I just don't want to see someone make a move and then regret it when it doesn't work out the way they wanted it to.

Chase was the most dominant LB on the field. Indiana was there filming and has to be licking their chops. He far outperformed the LB from McKinley who WVU chose over Hoobler. They goofed and they know it. Sam earned the starting job as well. Had a couple jet sweeps and bubble screens his way but nothing opened up. He also was one of the 2 punt returners back but no return possibilities. Nicest thing was our guys looked every bit the part and that they belonged with everyone else there. Both guys were on the kickoff team which is a testament to their conditioning and hitting ability. they were also on other special teams. Every kid has to play 15 plays by the rules...it was hard to get some of those guys on the field 15 times without exposing your weakness....Chase was on the field all night and Sam had far more than 15 plays as well.
