Wild Turkey! I edited it. Tough crowd in this spelling bee forum! -
skankAll I'm sayin is you have been pushing Cbus for the finals, (I have no problem with your opinion), then you say....And I quote, "HS football and athletics are not supported here like other areas". Here being Cbus. And, "most people don't have that die hard relationship with HS until their kids go through the program". Massillon/Canton/Stark County in general, is not like that. And finally, you add, "that hurts attendence at HS sporting". events.

I've never said it should come here because the fans from Columbus will support it better than NE or Stark. Whether that gives your side more ammo so be it. If they think they are going to get more people in Cent Oh to support this than they do up NE they are kidding themselves.
I think you will get more people from around the state to have more interest in going to Cbus . Of course you will get the negative fall out from the NE not going further to Cbus. Where would be the tipping point???
Again the NE dominates the state in wrestling(they also have all the history up there) but somehow thousands of NE'ers pack the Schott.
I personally would go to more if in Cbus, but again I'm Wild Turkey lol.
I look more at the stadium, geography, convenience, amenity angle.
I would be game to see the thing rotate and then evaluate. If Stark puts on the best show then keep it. If Cleve or Cinci can put on a better show then put it there. Cbus just seems the most natural spot(mainly geographically) IMO. -

Not even close nor relevant to where the high school championships should be played. -
ManO'WarNeither is Ohio State, but it shows how embedded the Buckeyes are in Central Ohio that it is always brought up as a reason that hs kids, from all over Ohio, would want to play there more than any other stadium...which isn't true.

justcompeteHey Johnny, lets jump in the car and go watch a couple of state championship games.
"Johnny" - OK, where are they?
Massillon or Canton.
"Johnny" - Wow, really? What are we supposed to do when the games are over for the night? Sit in our hotel and hope our car doesn't get vandalized?
Your right, never mind. -
GoChiefsLol? OK, not really, that was pretty lame.

First of all, if...."Johnny", doesn't want to go to the games because of location, he's just a casual fan.
Secondly, if...."Johnny has to ask WHERE, the state championship games are being held, he's LESS than a casual fan.
Thirdly, if...."Johnny doesn't know what to do when the games have ended for the night, (restaraunt, bar, movie, drive home, Hall of Fame), he's not the smartest guy in the world.
Forthly, if....Johnny thinks Massillon/Canton is the only place in the nation where vandalism occurs....again, not the smartest guy in the world.
And finally, if you let that weak diatribe by a casual, or LESS than casual fan like "Johnny", talk you out of going to the championship games, than you are a casual/LESS than casual fan yourself.
Good day sir.
I SAID GOOD DAY. -

He didn't say it was, he said, "That is enough right there for the kids to be excited about playing there". -
bo shemmy3337The SHU is a horrible place for high school games. no need to have 102,000 seats for a 10,000 crowd.
-
bo shemmy3337LOL i have lived in canton my whole live and never have had a problem in neither canton nor massilon. Dont go downtown at 2 am anywhere. Cbus also has a very large crime rate just off of campus so this argument is very poor.

The reason i wrote that comment is that I was at the championships. My son's team won the championship so it was a great trip until I woke up the next morning to find my tires slashed and the lock on my trunk jimmied. We had to play on that cement turf the next two years, and no, I didn't spend the night again. Nor will I ever. That was MY experience. -

Ok, and I can see you being upset by that, I would have been, but that could have happened two blocks down the street from your house while your wife was in the store buying groceries. Do you sit at home every time your wife leaves with the car and hope it doesn't get vandalized? -

Not so much. The excitement is playing in the state championship game...anything else is a secondary factor that means little or nothing... -

And you have talked to and polled MANY around the state? -
