Move the finals to Columbus!!!

  • skank
You know, I almost hope that the finals do move so the whiners on this and especially on another site will just go away. I honestly think that on the other site there were three threads on this subject open at one time, but then again, that other 'crappi' site is so anti stark county it's pathetic.

I understand why some people want it to move, but those Cincinnati guys are crazy. They think that anything further away than Dayton is just preposterous, and fail to recognize that Cincinnati has never put in a bid that was even close to reasonable.

They also think that the years between the Moeller/Princeton era, and the St. X/Elder/Colerain era, football didn't exist.

Did moving it to Spring help?
I didn't even know about it until that day(night it was played).
What were the #'s on this game the past few yrs.
IMO they need to have the game played before the tOSU spring game instead of the stupid lax game.
    Or maybe after the game.

I still think as a kid I would rather play in the greatest football stadium in the world than Massillon's stadium.
Don't get me wrong, both Mass and Faucett have their pluses, but I just don't think it compares to the Holy Grail...80% empty or not!

The only kids who think it is the greatest stadium in the world, or the holy grail, are Ohio State fans.

You could say, "wouldn't they rather play in a stadium that all the NFL teams have played in, and right next to the Pro Football Hall Of Fame??" I think the NFL carries a little more weight than Ohio State.

I realize most Stupidville players don't go onto college (instead they follow daddy right to the welfare office) but most other Ohio kids would much rather play in the 'Shoe instead of some crappy WWII relic of a stadium sittin' next to the freeway.

The kids will be happy to play the game whereever it is. Location is no big deal to them. It is to some narrow minded fans. Stark Co. got the games because they put on a first class show with fair prices, good organization and well run play off games in the hotbed of H.S. football -- Northeast Ohio . It also produced the best pay off that the OHSAA could get anywhere in the state. Stadiums were full and the atmosphere was top notch. It will not be replicated. It also is played were MOST of the teams are from -- Northeast Ohio, even though many are in & qualify from other regions. More playoff teams come from the NE than any other section of Ohio. Period. Not even close.

Columbus is a poor choice because they are Ohio St. dominant and H.S. sports are not a big deal down there. Businessmen there also tend to jack up their prices for things ( as the last time the games were there) and many of the people who come from NE teams will sit at home & watch it on TV. I see a flop in Ohio Stadium with attendance down, a poor atmosphere and little media attention given to it in Columbus . I went to the games when Columbus had them. Bush League.

    First, grow up.

Second, and I know you might find this shocking, but not everyone in Ohio is an Ohio State fan. I root for them, but I know plenty of people that don't. As far as relic's go, Ohio Stadium is older than Fawcett.

You're an idiot. Four of our freshly-minted graduates will be playing college ball on scholarship this fall. No other team in the valley has that kind of record.

Maybe only the schools that actually make it to the state finals should have the right to vote on this subject. That leaves your team out.

    LOL...good one!

Or maybe the people that actually live in Ohio should voice an opinion?

I support my team as much as anyone can. That's all that matters.

So....You've talked to EVERY ohio kid? And sitting next to the freeway is an issue because? You people would whine about anything.

Take your skirts off....support your team....be a man....It's pretty simple.

Massillon has played in three finals, one in Canton....one in Columbus....and one in Cincitucky.

The attendence at Nippert (Cincy) 22,692
The attendence at The shoe 31,412
    The attendence at Fawcett 22,207

Massillon fans will support the Tigers no matter where they play.

I've been to the North-South game several times at Paul Brown. And I have been to it once at Ohio Stadium. And I will never go back to Ohio Stadium to see an all-star game of any kind. 3,000 fans in that place IS a joke. Take it back to Paul Brown. Better atmosphere.

Ohio Stadium is a college stadium. Paul Brown Stadium is a high school stadium. High school games should be played in high school stadiums.

Sure they will...what else is there to do in that god forsaken crap hole of a town? Massillon fans call Away games "Vacation".

Most people that travel around the country to other games consider The Shoe the greatest college stadium in the country. Most media pundits also say this. Hell Beano Cook raves about it calling it the greatest and he is the Pope of college football. The Roman architecture is awesome! Those aren't "Ohio State fans".
I don't think you can consider comparing NFL stadiums to college stadiums. The NFL stadiums are all new and don't have the character and tradition that college stadiums have. But if you asked what had more weight a NFL player or college, it's a no brainer. It's the NFL.
At Cleveland, that stadium is new and has 0 championships and few if any All Pros that took the field for the Browns.
Same in Cinci. The Shoe has been around since the 20's with multiple heismans and champions that echo the hallways.

I do think that playing in the Faucett does have allure with the HOF next door and the NFL opening up the preseason there every yr. I don't think there is anything that special about Massilon's stadium though. Think about the team that lost the championship game telling his grandkids about playing at Massilon stadium (yawn).
  • ManO'War
It depends on if you're a true fan of high school football or not, if you are then Massillon is the Mecca as far as stadiums go. It seems you are more of a college fan, which is fine, but this is about the HIGH SCHOOL championships, nothing to do with college football.

How ever you want to define it. There is no other school in the state that has the following that the Tigers do. There are a few that are close, Steubenville, Elder, but no one year in and year out has the following that we do. Sorry if that makes you mad.

Have you ever been to Massillon? Is the town too tough for you? Does it scare you?

I find it funny that Massillon scares you, you wouldn't fit in here well, I've said before, I love it when Massillon plays at Warren and you get that feeling like you're gonna have to fight your way out of the stadium to get to your car. But....If you're scared, maybe the games could be moved to Dublin.

Where the kids want to play isn't up for debate. The 'shoe won a poll by majority decision. If all else were remotely even, this should be the deciding factor.
