Um... Delhomme is 35 years old. Any other questions?queencitybuckeye wrote:Footwedge wrote:
Every one of those you listed had a couple of good years...especially the years when they were on the Super Bowl winning team.queencitybuckeye wrote:

Doug Williams
Jeff Hostetler
Mark Rypien
Trent Dilfer
Brad Johnson
Which actually argues aginst your point, as Del Homie is actually more talanted than several of these guys. -

I think Browns fans would like a good quarterback for a period longer than 1 or perhaps 2 years. Hopefully, that clears it up for you.HighRoller74 wrote: ^^^

Lovejoy1984I'd think Browns fans realize Delhomme is only a stop gap, and that they will be drafting a QBF this year or next.
But I agree if they were planning on Delhomme to be the future, then it's clearly not a wise idea. -
sonofsamIf Delhomme gives you ONE good year, it will be a better year than the past 30 of them... Browns fans need to be happy with what they can get because honestly they haven't had very much.
P.S. Wouldn't it be nice to see shades of '87 "The Drive" Brady Quinn returns to Cleveland to take down the Delhomme led Browns in their first AFC championship game in over 20 years? LOL Denver has always been Cleveland's Black cloud... Lets just hope for Cleveland's sake they didn't just make a BIG mistake -

You plug in your franchise QB last, not first. You live with Jake for a couple of years while you build a team. Right now, if you draft your quarterback of the future, you're Archie Manning and the Saints 40 years later.Footwedge wrote:

dwccrewI never understood why Quinn was ever considered a top prospect. He never won a big game in college and consistently underperformed while in the pros.

Ask Tom Brady that same question...dwccrew wrote: I never understood why Quinn was ever considered a top prospect. He never won a big game in college and consistently underperformed while in the pros. -
Bluepride13Charlie Weiss definately sold us a bill of goods. Quinn couldnt beat out a guy we got off waivers.
-
just_a_swimmerI believe if Holmgren can't get Bradford he may take a QB late if one is available that he likes. If not we waits it out. From what I have read he likes Bradford.
-
thavoiceThis is what will happen.
If the exact Qb that holmgren wants is not there when they pick then he may move down a little bit or pick some other spot. Jake will be there two years....he is the starter....they may wait till next year.
He wont settle for a QB unless it is the exact one he wants. -
Mr Pat
You make a strong point, Brady played AWFUL on defense at Notre Dame.dwccrew wrote: I never understood why Quinn was ever considered a top prospect. He never won a big game in college and consistently underperformed while in the pros. -

Romeo Crennel was also buddy-buddy with Weis...I think that had something to do with us drafting himBluepride13 wrote: Charlie Weiss definately sold us a bill of goods. Quinn couldnt beat out a guy we got off waivers. -

cheeseburger charlie lobbied hard with NFL coaches and GM's to get quinn drafted , so he could use it as a recruiting toolBluepride13 wrote: Charlie Weiss definately sold us a bill of goods. Quinn couldnt beat out a guy we got off waivers. -
SageSo glad that Brady Quinn got traded. I can now go back to hating him with unimpeded vitriol.

I don't tbuy that argument at all. Aikman struggled with a crap team his first year or 2. So did Manning....both of them as a matter of fact. So did Favre. And way before your time, Terry Bradshaw was an absolute pig.queencitybuckeye wrote:

You can't win without a good quarterback. Jake Delhomme was worse than either Quinn or Anderson last year. When you're in your mid 30's, for most people, it's time to hang en up. -

Quinn had phenonemal numbers in college, Crew. And...he won a ton of big games in college...just not a bowl game.dwccrew wrote: I never understood why Quinn was ever considered a top prospect. He never won a big game in college and consistently underperformed while in the pros. -

Not really, his record against top 25 teams if I recall was pretty bad...Footwedge wrote:
