It'd be one thing if D.A. was only "not good" as opposed to absolutely atrocious. When you suck that bad you will be booed.
    this
then it explain why quinn wasnt booed. because he most certainly sucked

I just heard that ESPN is reporting that Quinn is on the trading block as well.

    Interesting.

Why exactly did the number 18 ranked quarteback that year get selected to the pro bowl?

Secondly, you have a bad memory as it relates to 2008. Anderson was the starter for a long, long time...and he absolutely stunk out the place.

I will concede that Butterfingers Edwards hurt Anderson. But it doesn't change the fact that he sucked some big time ass.

In college, Anderson's int/TD ratio was terrible..in the pros, it was even worse....one of the worst ever in modern day football.

As for Quinn, he never stayed healthy enough to show what he could do. I do know that Quinn was a tremendous college quarterback, with huge numbers, a great qb rating, and an excellent TD to intercepetion ratio. He also played on a team that had a pretty tough, major college schedule.

Apparently, his agent or someone with the common sense Derek so obviously lacks, must have told him to take a huge chill pill and not come across as a giant pussy.

"I said some things to Jeff Schudel earlier that I regret. Those of you who got to know me personally from covering the Browns over the past five years, know this was out of character for me. I wasn't taken out of context, but I was speaking out of frustration after my career with the Browns come to a close. I had some great times playing in Cleveland, especially during the 2007 season, and I met some great people and made many lifelong friends along the way. I'm looking forward to starting a new chapter in my life."

Well, Derek, I forgive you for being a total ass.

Just as I forgive you for being one of the dumbest, most inefficient QBs I've seen in 40 years of watching the NFL.
This. WB knows his shit when it comes to sports.
  • golf4life2008
Hey DA thanks for doing piss/shit while you were on the Browns!! I can't wait to boo your sorry ass when ur third string for some other team!
  • j_crazy
I like what he said on so many levels.

    1. He felt it. It wasn't a rehearsed PR ass kissing statement.
    2. He told the truth. Admitted he didn't perform up to the city's expectations.
    3. Gave a vow to have vengence. This city needs another villain, now they got one.

Assuming the browns keep BQ they made the wrong choice, but they had to get rid of DA because of that contract. He had to know it deep down.
  • Writerbuckeye
You seriously think DA is a better QB than Brady Quinn?

I am not here to defend Quinn by any means, but my eyes (and brain) tell me that Derek Anderson is one of the most inept, unpredictable, erratic NFL quarterbacks I've seen in 40 years of watching the NFL.

At his worst, he is -- by far -- the worst NFL QB I've watched on the field.

At his best, he is still maddening because he can't complete simple screen passes with any kind of touch, even after all these years in the league; and his completion percentage even in good games is typically below 50 percent (unheard of in the NFL).

Quinn is no world beater, but I don't believe he's put up some of the astoundingly low QB ratings that Anderson has with regularity.

Oh and just to be clear: I'm not saying Quinn is the answer at QB for the Browns. I don't think he is, but I also don't feel like I've seen enough of him in only 12 starts to make a real valid determination.

I can't blame him for being upset. If I got hurt and people were cheering, I'd be angry as well. He never claims to have performed great in Cleveland, he's just upset at that treatment, which is unacceptable regardless of how bad he was playing.

While not ALL Cleveland fans are like that obviously, it's not the first time they've done such a thing. They cheered when Couch got injured years back. While it's unfair for the loud minority to represent the majority, that's the way it is most of the time, and not just in sports.

And I say all this as a Cleveland fan.

Yeah man up. Only Philly fans are worse. Cleveland wouldn't know how to handle winner. And the Quinn factor didn't help matters. Anderson has shown some class with his apology.

    FUCK YOU DEREK ANDERSON!!!

    that is all.

It wasn't like he was the first QB who was selected to represent the AFC. He kind of got there by default.

Oh and ANYONE who calls (put fan base here) dumb in a broad generalization is simply ignorant or biased. You can't possibly make such a sweeping generalization about millions of people -- unless of course you're a liberal.

They do it all the time about folks who live in Red states. ;)
Yeah because Republicans never say anything bad about liberals...

You mean his forced apology for PR purposes that doesn't even actually apologize to Browns fans? Like I said, it's a good thing he isn't going to Philly. Jim Rome described it best today comparing him to the disgruntled employee shouting "I'm going to own this place one day!" among other expletives after he's cleaned out his desk from the office from being fired.

Anderson's comments were pathetic and proves further that he does not have the mental makeup to be an NFL starter. Ask Josh Cribbs how shitty Browns fans are

The more I thought about this, the more I remembered the game where Anderson was injured. I specifically remember DA going down and there was really no noise at all from the fans. Then as soon as Quinn started warming up, there WAS a lot of cheering. The idiot TV guys totally got it wrong and said they were cheering DA's injury and how despicable it was and just kept blathering on and on. At first I thought, "Wow, this is low even for Browns fans." Then I hit rewind on the old DVR and re-watched it. 100% for sure, the cheering did not start until Quinn was warming up. Anderson and the other Browns bashers on here are wrong about what happened.

The fact is that the fans supported him. Hell they even printed t-shirts and sent pizzas to Browns coaches that said "Pay the Man". Why didn't he get this "ruthless" treatment that Anderception was talking about? Oh yea because he actually PERFORMS on the field.

I compare DA's comments with Milton Bradley's comments about the Cubs he made the other day.....and with that I agree with what the Cubs owner said about Bradley's "excuse making" to what Anderception was doing.
  • jordo212000
I don't blame Anderson either. I would have said the same thing if I was him. Some of the comments on this thread from Browns fans reinforce what he said.

He did apologize...but to his credit...he didnt say his quotes were taken outta context like most people do when stuff like this is printed.

When did he ever make any excuses? He admitted that he didn't play well. He merely said that some idiot fans that were booing him when he got injured will stick with him for a long time.

Bullshit he apologized. He said that the comments were "uncharacteristic" of him but he never actually apologizes to Browns fans specifically.

As for Bradley, as the Cubs GM pointed out....Derek Lee doesn't seem to get all this hate mail and such and he's black. For Bradley to blame Chicago on being a racist town for his problems was ridiculous.

Personally I don't care what Anderson's opinions on Browns fans are. He's too irrelevant of a player to take his opinion seriously, and the situation he was in when he made the comments made him look like a disgruntled employee salty about being fired. He never once (like Braylon) considers that the way Browns fans treated him was not personal, but because of his play. People weren't cheering that he got hurt, people were cheering that Brady Quinn was coming in. Some people are classy like Scott Fujita when they make their exits from cities, while some people do nothing but bash the city and make excuses like Anderson, Braylon, and Julius Peppers. I have no doubt that Anderson will be back to try and "roll" the Browns, however in all likelihood it'll be as a holder of either the football on field goals or the clipboard.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure Ken Dorsey came in to replace Anderson. Quinn was already sidelined with a broken finger.
