Official NBA Trade Deadline *Moves and Rumors*

jpake1Ha, yeah Cleveland Buck... you havn't seen Amare play much have you? He may have some weaknesses in his game, but the 15' shot and finishing around the rim are his absolute strengths.

2quik4uOn Sunday, ESPN.com’s Chris Broussard reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Phoenix Suns had seriously discussed a trade that would send Amare Stoudemire to Cleveland for J.J. Hickson (and the expiring contract of Zydrunas Ilgauskas). As Broussard reported, the Cavs had made the offer and the ball was in Phoenix's court.
In the meantime, I’ve spoken to sources connected to the Cavs, the Suns and other teams around the league, and while they confirm that the Stoudemire trade discussions between Cleveland and Phoenix are at a serious stage, they also describe a fluid situation, with trade discussions taking place on multiple fronts.
Here is what I’m hearing as of early Monday:
For the Suns, the Stoudemire-Hickson trade would be something of a last resort. The Suns have been hoping to land more than just Hickson and financial relief for Stoudemire.
In particular, the Suns are still holding out hope that Philadelphia will come to the table and agree to a deal sending Andre Iguodala and Samuel Dalembert to Phoenix. The Suns have sweetened their offer to the 76ers by including Leandro Barbosa in a package with Stoudemire. Also possible is a three-way trade that would send Hickson and Barbosa (along with Ilgauskas) to Philly, Stoudemire to Cleveland and Iguodala and Dalembert to Phoenix.
Expect the Suns to turn up the heat significantly on the Sixers on Monday.
The Miami Heat remain very interested in Stoudemire and are trying to find a third team to help improve their offer to Phoenix. Though Amare is amenable to going to Cleveland, Miami is his first choice.
Meanwhile, Cleveland remains interested in obtaining either Antawn Jamison of the Washington Wizards or Troy Murphy of the Indiana Pacers. According to an official from one of those two teams, the Cavs said on Sunday that a Stoudemire trade was not a done deal and the team was still evaluating its options.
Even if the Cavs get Stoudmire, they might attempt do a secondary trade to obtain Jamison or Murphy to fill the need for a 4 who could stretch the floor with his shooting.
Given that the Cavs have concerns about well Stoudemire and Shaquille O’Neal would fit together, the team would consider moving Shaq if it acquired Amare. For instance, the Cavs could swap O’Neal and their first-round pick to Washington for Jamison and Mike Miller. They could send the same package to Indiana in a deal for Murphy and Mike Dunleavy.
One surprising note: According to a source, Amare's agent has yet to be contacted by the Cavs. Since Stoudemire has an early termination clause in his contract, it’s possible that Cleveland is willing to acquire Stoudemire without assurances that he will stay with the Cavs beyond this season. Still, one should expect the Cavs to gather some sort of intel on Stoudemire’s wishes.
As has been speculated, if the Suns do acquire Ilgauskas, they would likely waive him, which would open the door for him to return to Cleveland after a 30-day wait.

hangonsloopylol at the Cavs trading Shaq
-
j_crazyif the cavs don't have amare locked up beyond 2011, I do not like trading Hickson for him.
-
Lovejoy1984I really don't think they'd trade Shaq if they landed Amare, but who knows.
I agree with J_crazy if Amare isn't going to re-up this could be a bad trade for the Cavs. -
2quik4u
damnit why couldn't this have happenedDid the Lakers offer guard Sasha Vujacic to Portland? According to Yahoo! Sports, the Blazers were saying over the weekend that they had a chance to land Vujacic.
One eastern executive was wondering if this could be part of a three-team trade with Lakers, Blazers and Bulls, which would send Tyrus Thomas and Vujacic to the Northwest, Kirk Hinrich to the Lakers and Adam Morrison and players from Portland to the Bulls.
"What has, or will kill this," one GM told the website, "is that Portland just won't take Vujacic on." -

Eric TaylorThey wont deal Shaq.

Lovejoy1984Only way Shaq gets moved, is if it's to bring in a piece like Bosh, Wade or another Superstar. They won't move Shaq for Mike Miller and Jamison.

Eric TaylorIs it just rumor or are they really shopping Shaq?

KR1245I think something will happen but it wont be Amare. I think Jamison has been Ferrys first choice all along and hes still trying to work out that deal. I also think Ferry might turn to Murphy. More on the Murphy rumors:
Murphy Is Cleveland's Plan B
Feb 15, 2010 7:39 AM EST
If the Cavaliers aren't able to work out a deal with the Suns for Amare Stoudemire, they'll focus their attention on Indiana's Troy Murphy.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the Cavaliers and Pacers have agreed on a deal should Cleveland's pursuit of Stoudemire come up empty
Cleveland would ship Zydrunas Ilgauskas and J.J. Hickson to Indiana for the power forward.
The Pacers may then waive Ilgauskas. -
KR1245It also looks like the Cavs might need to get a 3rd team involved to pull this off. New rumored trade out there is.
JJ, Barbosa and Z to Philly
Stoudemire to Cleveland
Iguodala and Dalembert to Phoenix
Again, nothing new just some more rumors floating out there -
SQ_CraziesI hope they don't make a move at this point. The rumors are worse than last year.

That's giving up too much for one player. Amare is good but not that good.KR1245 wrote: It also looks like the Cavs might need to get a 3rd team involved to pull this off. New rumored trade out there is.

Jamison is a hot commodity heading towards the pending trade deadline this Thursday, and currently buried in NBA purgatory; oops, I meant Washington. Miami could steal Jamison for expiring contracts of players like Quentin Richardson and Dorell Wright.
Seriously Pat Riley, what's taking so long? (Credit: picapp.com)
This is a potential great fit for Jamison and would help Dwyane Wade’s Heat significantly turn this season around. With reduced pressure on Wade, and an inspired Jamison who would now be playing for a chance to return to the playoffs, Miami could make a serious push. Miami, currently the 7th playoff seed, could potentially leapfrog Charlotte and Toronto in the standings with 30 games left in the regular season.
Washington benefits from this deal because it gets players providing immediate cap relief. The Wizards can continue tanking, let the season play out, and then focus on which draft picks and free agents to acquire during the summer.
The ideal trade for Miami to propose to Washington, which would have to be entertained, is a deal shipping out Antawn Jamison and Mike Miller in exchange for Udonis Haslem, Quentin Richardson, and Dorell Wright.
This trade yields the Wizards $18.7 million in expiring contracts and Miami would have Mike Miller on a “rental” basis for the rest of the year. Miller is a quality shooter and could help distribute the ball running the point with his above average passing skills.
If you are a Heat fan this trade is a far better outcome for the franchise, in my opinion, than pursuing Amar’e Stoudemire. Cross your fingers, hope Amare heads to Cleveland, and the Heat land Jamison and Miller.
If Stoudemire undermines the system while under performing in Cleveland, the Eastern Conference will become a more open race towards the post season. -
KR1245Same players just sending them to a different place. It sounds like the Suns want something other then cap relief. Heat were rumored to be involved but it sounds like they have dropped out of the running.

It say Z too. Unless you guys not counting that because of the possibility he can come back after 30 days.2quik4u wrote:

KR1245I also dont understand where the "Shaq and Amare dont mesh well" argument comes from?
They went through a coaching change
Went through a trade in which they brought in another starter
They also only played 46 games together going 28-18 in those games. -
devil1197Alright.
1) JJ will not be involved in a trade to Indiana.
2) Miami will not trade for Jamison as it will kill their cap for this summer. Getting a 33 yr old wont keep Wade.
3) Indiana is not plan B, W&G confirmed that tonight.
4) There really hasnt been anything new on Amar'e today. The 3 team deal has been a couple days old and the situation was always complicated.
I do no[ know what to think. Alot of BS out there. -

Many around the league are holding their breath until the Amar'e Stoudemire trade to the Cavaliers is announced.
But there could be one major road block.
A source said the five-time All-Star center let it be known that he does not want to come to Cleveland.
The Cavs have reportedly been informed of that news and have gone in another direction.
They had reportedly offered center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, promising young power forward J.J. Hickson and another player to the Suns for Stoudemire.
The source said judging from the changing winds of the NBA, it's not totally out of the question that the Cavs could still make a deal for Stoudemire.
But the 6-foot-10, 249-pound Stoudemire has little desire of joining LeBron James and Shaquille O'Neal on the Cavs, even if it meant bringing home an NBA championship.
One thing that could change Stoudemire's thought process, the source said, would be if the Cavs offered a contract extension. Stoudemire is supposedly seeking a three-year, $60 million extension.
He will earn $16.4 million this season and has a player option on his 2010-11 contract worth $17.7 million.
Reportedly, Stoudemire didn't mesh with O'Neal last year in Phoenix.
The Cavs might be targeting Wizards forward Antawn Jamison or Pacers forward/center Troy Murphy. Both are "stretch 4s" who can shoot from the perimeter and open up the paint for O'Neal and for James to slash to the basket.
Jamison, 33, has almost $28 million on his contract after this season.
The Cavs aren't the only team pursuing the 6-9, 230-pounder, either, as Miami has joined the fray.
Stoudemire's agent, Happy Walters, told ESPN that he hadn't discussed a possible deal with the Cavs as of Monday morning.
Since Stoudemire owns a house in the Miami area, some think he eventually wants to play for the Heat.
Miami and Philadelphia, and possibly a few other teams, are making serious offers to the Suns for Stoudemire. The Suns would love to add 76ers swingman Andre Iguodala, a former college star at the University of Arizona, and still very popular in the state.
Heat owner Micky Arison said he wouldn't part with forward Michael Beasley in any deal. The Heat are trying to entice the Suns with center Jermaine O'Neal's bloated $23 million expiring contract. So far, it hasn't worked.
The Los Angeles Times reported that if the Stoudemire talks break down, the Cavs have a deal in place for Murphy.
Ilgauskas has a 15-percent trade kicker on his $11.5 million expiring contract. The Cavs would have had to add another player in a deal for Stoudemire because the contracts of Ilgauskas and Hickson came up $65,000 short. Someone such as Danny Green or Darnell Jackson would have to be included.
The 7-3 Ilgauskas would have to be paid about $1.7 million if he's traded. It would have to be paid by the team acquiring him, not the Cavs. The Cavs, though, could include cash in the deal.
Stoudemire also has a trade kicker, but since he's already making the league maximum, he's not eligible to receive it.
Some think if the Cavs make the deal, they'd want to sign Stoudemire to a contract extension by the June 30 deadline.
Another option would be to allow him to become a free agent and use him in a sign-and-trade. The Cavs could get a $15 million trade exception in such a deal.
There was also talk of a three-way trade between the Cavs, Sixers and Suns.
TNT analyst Charles Barkley said it would be frightening for the Cavs to add Stoudemire.
"That would be scary to have Amar'e on one wing and LeBron (James) on the other wing," he said. "All these trades are designed to do one thing, and that is to beat the Lakers." -
SQ_CraziesAmar'e was also asked what his dream lineup would be the other day and the first two players he mentioned were LeBron and Shaq. Who knows what to believe, it's all a bunch of speculation anyways.
I personally want the Cavs to just stay put. I don't want any part of Troy Murphy. I don't think he makes us better. I'd rather keep Hickson. I wouldn't like giving Parker up for him either.
