You know how the Steelers operate! I had a good feeling going into this one mostly because of the embarrassed nature of the team last week.
Didn't get to see or listen to is as I went to bed with an early day today but pleased tl see the team bounced back. When a team, and a superstar, gets embarrassed many time it refocuses them,
Now on to the Bengals. Have to take care of those division games ad keep momentum going -

Only trade him if I helps the team win this or next season....as this window is about to slam closed quickly, if it hasn't already. -

I understand he's unhappy, but play your way onto the field. I'd take him over Smith-Schuster, but you can't have a year off and start making demands regarding PT.thavoice;1877528 wrote:I concur.

Exactly. I am for keeping him if he can help the team which I think he can. I don't foresee a trade doijg anything to help the team win now so keep him and he jistmhas to suck it up and play. The window is slamming shut so fuck his feelings and make him get better and help the team -

Yeah, if you miss time like he did and get passed in the rotation by a highly-drafted rookie, that's on you. Work to improve your position and, if you don't like your position at the end of the year, try to get traded. Don't be a bitch over something that's your fault to begin with. At least, on the bright side, I read this is old news that just got released and, despite being almost a non-factor against KC, he's sounding more professional about things, tweeting the usual "good win; let's work for 7" company line.Automatik;1877532 wrote:I understand he's unhappy, but play your way onto the field. Which is good, because no one needs another incident of Ben bitching about a player causing a distraction and then going out and throwing five picks. -
gutBryant is a bit of a head case. Just a bizarre request to make coming off a year-long drug suspension.
They finally opened up their offense yesterday. I don't know if Bryant is sloppy or lazy, but their reluctance to have him run more than two routes is just dumb. Otherwise, I don't think any of the guys on offense are big fans of Haley. -
SportsAndLadyKind of a small thing, but why is pagano letting it go to the 2 min warning before calling his two timeouts? Could have called his timeouts and gotten the ball back at the 2 min warning. Instead he’ll get the ball back with 1:45’ish. Stupid

But it takes time to spike the ball, which also wastes a down. It's actually kind of a wash. I've also seen a play run in which there was then a penalty, effectively wasting the TO.SportsAndLady;1877625 wrote:Kind of a small thing, but why is pagano letting it go to the 2 min warning before calling his two timeouts? I wouldn't let someone burn off 20-25 seconds, but 10-15 I think I'd rather have the flexibility of saving my TO's. Maybe burn one, but like I said above inside of 2:10 I wouldn't use a TO. -

Laley23Anything over 2:05, you always call a Timeout. 2:01-2:05 I don't because you give the offense the option to pass. But Pagano is awful, so this isn't a shock.

He could have called a timeout at like 2:15 haha but instead let 15 seconds run off til 2 min warning. And then let the offense run two plays.Laley23;1877637 wrote:Anything over 2:05, you always call a Timeout. 2:01-2:05 I don't because you give the offense the option to pass. Why not call timeout at 2:15, then let it go to 2 min warning, then call your final timeout with 1:50’ish. Stupid lol -

It really doesn't matter unless they are running like 20-25 seconds or more off the clock. One play in the middle of the field - clock is running and you either have to spike the ball, wasting a down, or it's going to take like 10 seconds to run the next play.
If you actually think about it and do the math, 2:00 with no TO's really is no better or worse than 1:45 with 2 TO's. Actually, the latter is probably better because it gives you a bit more flexibility. ONE play in the middle of the field wipes out that 15 seconds you think you're saving.
The one thing you DO do is hope to preserve the 2:00 for yourself, so that you're just trading a TO for the 2:00 warning.....i.e. get the ball back and run a play or two before the 2:00. -

When you have no TO's left, a play in the middle of the field might force you to waste a down spiking the ball to stop the clock. And that still takes a good bit of time to do.SportsAndLady;1877635 wrote:Spike the ball? Huh? -

the difference in time really just how long it takes for the qb to call the play..so maybe a few to 5 seconds. The time the next play takes is irrelevant because the clock will run anyways on the next snap. Spiking the ball isn't a horrible play all the times it allows the offense to reset, the qb to think of more plays or the coach radio one in and the offense to catch its breath.gut;1877661 wrote:It really doesn't matter unless they are running like 20-25 seconds or more off the clock. I think you're a Steeler fan? If so, I've seen too many times I'd rather they had a TO then having to waste a down spiking the ball...Clock usually runs a few seconds after the guy is tackled, and then at least a few more seconds to get everyone set and spike the ball after the official starts the clock. I'd say on average it's a solid 4-5 seconds, and often a little more.thavoice;1877663 wrote:the difference in time really just how long it takes for the qb to call the play..so maybe a few to 5 seconds. I think the Steelers spike the ball more than anyone, and I'll tell you it's AT LEAST 5 seconds on average. The point was about saving 15 seconds with 2 TO's, and I'm saying that it's basically a wash because saving those 2 TO's is going to save you close to 15 seconds after the 2 minute warning, anyway.
Having a TO or two left in the final 30-40 seconds and still be able to use the whole field is significant. -

You’re confusing the shit out of me. They wouldn’t get the ball back WITH timeouts. The argument is two timeouts before the two min warning or two timeouts after.gut;1877661 wrote:It really doesn't matter unless they are running like 20-25 seconds or more off the clock. That makes more sense. Still, inside @ 2:10 you risk losing a TO if there's a penalty. I've seen it happen a couple of times - play runs down to 2:00 warning, penalty, then replay the down....in that situation, calling the TO to save 10 seconds ends up costing you like 40. Fair enough if you want to argue odds and expected value. -

So decline the penalty?gut;1877708 wrote:I confess I didn't see the game.

What if it's on the defense? What if it's offsetting? What if it's a deadball foul replay the down (I think this one should stop the clock or put time back on the clock, but not sure)?Laley23;1877716 wrote:So decline the penalty?
