If we hire Manning I could easily see this happening. It would more so be a sit the rookie behind him and have Eli mentor him situation though.

But Blake Bortles and Tom Coughlin are.

I don’t see what Coughlin can help. Eli isn’t very good anymore. I think the Jags with Eli are virtually the same.

Eli has never been very good.

I agree but he used to be a bit better. I would take Flacco over Eli

    Bortles = 12 TD's, 8 INT's, 2200+ yards with a strong running game and a lockdown defense

Manning = 14 TD's, 7 INT's, 2400+ yards with a "so so" running game, a dog shit defense, a mega shitty O-Line and lost his top 3-4 receivers.

Manning isn't the problem in NY. Is he what he once was? No, but I bet JAX would be much happier if he were their guy over Bortles.

    EDIT: And since you mentioned Flacco....9 TD's, 11 INT's and 1800+ yards

Would take Eli. Starting Geno is a joke

Not buying. Eli isn’t leading anyone anywhere deep into playoffs.

Thought the Steelers were over the hump but that defense won't get it done. Bengals trip them up monday

The only advantage Flacco has over Eli is that he's a bit younger. Other than that, he's basically an inferior version of him (can be great, can be mistake-prone, has habit of transforming into a super-clutch guy in the postseason). And so far this year, he's put up numbers that make Eli look like Pro Bowl material in comparison.

    Exactly.

The reason I mentioned Eli to JAX is the connection to Coughlin and they are ready to win now. Plug in a QB that's better than a game manager ((Eli is but he's far from elite) and they can contend in the AFC. Putting him in that situation would be similar to the two years he won titles (strong run game, smothering defense). Just need him to make some plays. Do I think the Jags win a title with him? Unlikely, but he'd get them closer than Bortles.

If Eli greatly improved the completion% on their plays or turnovers that Bortles makes he could.

Right now in their careers I just have Flacco and Manning very very close in the back middle portion of the QB rankings.

Coughlin is the biggest part of Eli being a good improvement over Bortles to help them win

Eli Manning is a 'dependent" QB. The people around him (O-Line, WR's, running game) have to be good in order for him to function at a high level. His skills haven't diminished. He can still function at a high level but needs parts around him to be just "so." I know JAX has a pretty solid O-Line and running game. Not overly familiar with their WR situation but that could be remedied in the offseason. Manning isn't like a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady where he can win without the perfect O-Line, etc but he's still a very solid (not elite) QB when he has these pieces.

Sadly I’ve seen about 5 of the Jags games. Their receivers are not any better than the Giants back ups being used. Bortles is not good at hitting tough passes and below average at completing the ones we expect NFL guys to make. What he does add is that he’s a decently productive guy on the move. He has 250 some yards, couple TD and I believe 16 first downs running the ball on set or scrambling plays.

How good they are and the Coughlin factor make Eli an obvious choice for deep playoff hope....I don’t believe it will work out
  • Ironman92
Skins at Boys tonight....loser completely done with playoff hopes. If Skins don’t make playoffs I don’t think they sign Cousins and I think they kinda hope they don’t have to sign him to the huge money.
  • BR1986FB
Minnesota is going to have an interesting decision to make at the end of this season. I believe Bradford, Keenum & Bridgewater will all be free agents. Which one do you sign (if any)? Bradford's a china doll. Keenum has been a journeyman, who is having a solid season and Bridgewater is coming back from what was thought could've been a career ending injury.
  • thavoice
May have an extra BengAls Steelers ticket Monday. ..any takers?

Manny will letBradford go. Unless keenum delivers a long playoff run he is done. Depends what they really think of bridge water and his health.......
  • BR1986FB
Denver could be a nice spot for Eli too.

Someone will probably roll the dice on him in the offseason to be their starter.
  • SportsAndLady
There really isn’t a nice spot for Eli because he’s awful. He’s been awful for 3 years he just has been able to cover that up with OBJ doing his thing.

Ross Tucker (Sirius XM) had Greg Cosell on this morning discussing Eli and Cosell said that a lot of Eli's issue lately have been due to their crappy O-Line and no running game. Cosell said Manning is "anticipating" sacks when sometimes they are coming, some times not, and it's affected him over the past few years.

Here in Cincinnati, we call that Andy Dalton syndrome. Tbe best cure is to schedule 2 games against the Browns.
