God damn. That's crazy. How pissed are Kings fans right now? You're flirting with the playoffs (which yes would have resulted in getting immediately swept by Golden state) to trading your franchise player.

...and got nothing. Hield is trash.

    Horrible trade.

Kings must really not want Cousins.
  • Azubuike24
Kings are probably the dumbest FO in the NBA.

Pretty good clip. Told about the trade mid-interview, a huge smile comes over his face and he starts talking about how he loves New Orleans.

Strange combo of 2 big forwards/centers with outside games

Pelicans won't be able to re-sign him after next season which is why I think the trade was so shit.

This year, the Pelicans at best will make the 8th seed in the West but I really don't see them beating GSW so they are basically going for a shot at something next year. Does Cousin/AD and garbage make them a title contender? No.

They did get Nola's 1st rounder in a loaded draft class. But it's top 3 protected lol. Just not a very good trade for the kings

Well there's a good chance Nola will make the playoffs now so it won't even be a lottery pick.

I'd be interested to see if there were any other offers for Cousins. The trade is garbage on the surface but I think the Kings want to start the rebuild now rather than wait until next year and with Cousins unwilling to commit to a long term deal, his trade value is low.

The problem is, the Kings got nothing. And they just threw in Casspi too. A draft pick they won't ever see, a shell of himself Tyreke Evans and Buddy Hield? Arguably nothing from this trade will be anything they use in 3 years.

Heck, you would've thought at least someone like Washington or Boston would've offered a better player for Cousins?

Like, Otto Porter and a late 1st from the Wizards?

I agree the trade is shit. I'm saying unless we know the comparable offers, if any, then it makes it more difficult to discern the plan. It could also be salary shedding?

I'd say the plan is...the Kings literally are clueless and they don't have one. They would've been much better off just re-signing Cousins to the hometown deal at season's end and trading him then.

I highly doubt Cousins would have resigned in sac. He hated it there.
  • Azubuike24
Would've been a gamble and they would've had a much better trade piece with him locked in. Instead, they lost him for the same nothing here?
  • Azubuike24
Plus, if he walks, that's on him, and they have an out that he was selfish and bailed.

Instead, any Kings fans that were left are probably bailing on them now.

They knew he wasn't staying in sac town, That's why they traded him for a garbage return haul.

They don't care about having an out to the public lol that makes absolutely zero sense.

You'd rather have the trade from Nola (even tho it's pretty bad) than just letting him walk and being able to tell people that cousins left them and that he's an asshole for doing it. Lol
  • Azubuike24
See, I disagree. Boogie was so polarizing, but I would say most Kings fans took his side on things and wanted him around. Those same fans would've probably been much more likely to be loyal to the Kings if he bolted, rather than giving him away for nothing. I guess we will see.

The Kings were selling out games, and starting to win a little. Lets see how that goes the rest of this year and into the next year or two...

Appears there was a deal on the table from Phoenix involving Brandon Knight, Alex Len, T.J. Warren and future unprotected first rounder, and that Sac-Town didn't want to trade with Phoenix.
