MLB Playoffs Thread

Nationals wasting too many chances. Dodgers going to win this.

Tie game, Scherzer out...I still disagree
  • Ironman92
Hey Dusty...Max Scherzer was the biggest competitor you could possible have out there. Pederson hit a great pitch oppo over the fence.

3 pitchers and 25 minutes later there is still 1 out in the inning. Did he not watch the Giants their elimination game?

I simply have no clue how you can watch Scherzer pitch and compete in this win or go home game and then pull him in a tie game.

Dusty now on his 5th pitcher this inning.

    He is so fucking terrible.
  • Mulva
    Pulling all the wrong strings.
  • Ironman92
Dusty bringing in his 6th pitcher of the inning.

    Re-read for clarity pls
  • Ironman92
Scherzer threw 99 pitches. His final pitch was 96 mph on the outside corner.

On opening day went 104 pitches. 23x over 100 pitches this season and exactly ZERO games under 92 pitches.

Scherzer is one good dude. He'll defend Dusty after the game. I'd bet my house he wanted to stay in and could've stayed in. How could that not be seen?

    Heisey baby!
  • Ironman92
You have to walk Daniel Murphy
  • Ironman92
Jansen great job but 2 more innings and Harper will bat again...Dusty split the lefties so Murphy may not
  • Ironman92
Can Jansen get thru Turner/Harper/Werth after already throwing 36 pitches?
  • Ironman92
I would ask Kershaw if he could go in the 9th
  • Ironman92
And Kershaw now up in the pen, threw 110 pitches in game 4 on short rest...and that was 2 days ago
  • Classyposter58
This is so stupid. Put a pitch clock on these guys, 30-40 seconds to throw a pitch is crazy
  • Ironman92
Dave Roberts was masterful in riding his horses and pushing them to their limits. Studs are better than those in and out relievers....different mindsets, nerves, composure and wanting of the moment.

Dusty took out his stud 10-30 pitches early

Not sure the nationals aren't perfectly satisfied this morning. You hired dusty who was notorious for "getting there" but losing in these types of games. And that's exactly what happened.

Also, the Cubs might sweep the dodgers. Their pitching is shot. Cubs are rested and have homefield. I'd be shocked in dodgers won more than one game.

If you told me this game was going to end around 12:30, I would say it was going into extra innings. It's crazy it took that long to complete a 9 inning game. The MLB needs to look into starting these games at 7 or 730, except for the west coast games.

Tell dipshit Dusty to not use 6 pitchers in a 1/2 innings and having a 40 min 1/2 inning....that would help a ton. Bochy used 5 in an inning. Worked great for both of them and added at least 15-20 min to each game.

I wish there was simply a way that could be replayed with Scherzer continuing.

The irony in this is Dusty's reputation is to run pitchers to the ground. Maybe it got to his head and he did the exact opposite when he should have kept Scherzer out.

I was watching when the 7th inning started but tuned out by the time it finished. They managed to suck the excitement out of the inning that produced 6 of the games 7 runs

That was his thing in Chicago. Honestly in Cincinnati he didn't do that at all. Quite the opposite a lot of times he'd take the starter out too early due to pitch count.

No shit. Fell sleep after the hockey game, woke up and saw this game was still going on. I believe commercial breaks are little longer in the postseason so games may last a little longer, but man this is retarded.

I posted exactly that but probably on my other site.

He was dumb with Harang throwing 5 innings of relief against the Padres...Harang literally sucked for the next 3-4 years after that relief role in the mid summer

Yep. Oddly enough he threw fantastic that game with I think 10K's in that 18 inning game. He says he was never the same after that. I bet he kept telling Dusty he felt fine and to keep going, but as a coach you need to do what is best not necessarily for a run-of-the-mill regular season game but for the long term. Do or die late in a postseason push or in the postseason...do what you need to do to win like the Dodgers did.
