MLB Playoffs Thread

And Baez again! He gets a tip of the cap from the opponent (Denard Span) and David Ross on two separate plays within 3 minutes. Wow

This Cubs/Giants NLDS is like NCAA Regional Final where UNC faces Kansas and in another regional final it's Xavier vs NC State

    Baez=good

    Gillespie is on fire
  • Ironman92
Gillaspie might be this year's Daniel Murphy
  • Ironman92
Pence has to score on that and insane a ball hit that far to RCF isn't a HR
  • Ironman92
Great play by Pence...not good by Fowler. Takes away a hit from Bryant

I miss the one poster who absolutely hated random teams. SF Giants was one of them.

WGH?? Also despised Peyton Manning but couldn't give an actual reason as to why.

Despised Manning like Manning slept with his wife and then murdered his dog.

How did they ever make it to the 13th last night?
  • mhs95_06
    Chapman tonight?
  • Ironman92
Even year Giants can't beat this Cubs team

I imagine Javy Baez is going to go back to his room and read a book as part of his celebration.

I'm in that group. I can't stand the influx of the "new" Cubs fans, I'm even related to some of them. They are clueless about baseball. I'm a historical baseball fan who has gone to games, listened on the radio or watched on TV when they were cellar dwellers. It's annoying.

I will say, however, every fan base has those. A few years ago when the Reds got good....same thing. Just not on the same scale.

True Cubs fans are some of the best in baseball. They're educated on the game and the team history and don't get drunk and obnoxious at the games; especially at a visiting ballpark.

I don't think the reds have bandwagon fans. I think they have a lot of fairweather fans. If the reds are good, you'll get a lot of "fans" come out and say how big of fans they are. But when the reds suck they couldn't name two players on the team.
  • Laley23
Yeah, people aren't moving to Cincinnati and becoming Reds fans

Sad to see the Giants choke and Cubs advance. It'd have been nice to see them washed out in this round, but it wasn't to be.

Now we will see if Baker can make it 9 straight losses in games where his team could advance.
One one hand, I would like to see Baker lose just so it doesnt look quite as bad for the reds firing him.
Another thing though, I would like to see them win as a big F-U to Brandon PHillips who could have been a Natinal if it werent such a baby. (yes..i realize if he went there it wasnt a guarantee they make the postseason because the guy who they got instead had a great year)
  • Ironman92
Justin Turner with one of the best at bats I've ever seen
  • Ironman92
Scherzer in high 80's pitch count thru 5. As long as he says he's ok and Nats winning by 3 or fewer...I simply am not taking him out. He could go 140-150 pitches. Love watching him pitch
  • Ironman92
Scherzer 98 pitches thru 6...Dusty warming up bullpen. Scherzer ain't coming out.
  • Mulva
Werth out at home by 40 feet.
