2016 NFL Offseason Thread

Damn drive home to find out the Panthers rescind the franchise tag on Josh Norman. Crazy day in the NFL today. Will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Jacksonville would be interesting for Norman. They still have a ton of cap space. That defense could look way different this year. Jackson/Gipson/Fowler and probably the #5 pick.

An interesting, short conversation today on the radio about the Wonderlic test. A couple of fun facts:

Cardale scored higher than Hackenberg. Not sure why that pleases me, it just does.

They confirmed that there is no correlation between Wonderlic scores and on-field success, but there is a very high correlation between low scores an off-field issues. Manziel's high score notwithstanding.

    Norman headed to Washington.

Wouldn't be surprised at all to see them at the bottom of the NFC East next season. I think Cousins sucks and will come back down to earth. DA written all over him.

Favorable schedule last year but I thought they were a pretty legit team. I think the division is meh again but games against the division winners will likely result in about a 7-9 record

Well I hope Giants, Cowboys, Ethnic Slurs all make it to the playoffs and the Eagles go winless.

    FIFY

I think the Eagles have a good chance of being the worst team in the NFC east. Their roster is nothing to be excited about.

Not calling them the Redskins is the dumbest thing ever.

    Pretty pathetic...

    From Schefty.

For the first time in recent memory, NFL has notified all 32 teams that no player tested positive at February combine, per league sources.

And in even more pathetic news...

The US Appeals Court has reinstated Tom Brady's 4 game suspension.

So, where does it go from here?

Read that Brady can choose to have the case heard by the entire circuit court or can appeal to SCOTUS. Brady can ask the court to stay the suspension pending the next step in the process.

The decision appears to have nothing to do with the punishment being fair or too extreme, but focused on the fact that Goodell's power to act as judge and jury was collectively bargained by the NFLPA.

A summer full of DEFLATEGATE updates. Because the NFL simply refuses to allow any other sport to get headlines when it can get them.

God I hope so. Nothing more important than disciplining Brady from possibly "cheating" in a game 16 months ago that was won by 38 points.

    Pretty much this.

Also with his renegotiated contract, he's "only" losing a little more than $200K instead of the $2M he would have lost last season.

I think he might just drop it since this ruling has more to do with Goodell's power than the actual infraction.

Maybe, or he may appeal to the circuit, and then to SCOTUS, and stretch it out until retirement.

I hope he does that. It would bring the lulz.

Mike Tirico leaving ESPN for NBC. Wonder who will replace him on MNF?
  • Midstate01
    Sucks, I really like Tirico
