  Pirates are doing a really great job of dumping salary to sign blah players. I mean, Charlie Morton wasn't that good against teams other than the Reds, but replacing him with Ryan Vogelsang, who's 38 and mediocre? Fuck that noise. They're basically acting like if they stay the course, they're good for the wild card game and not really trying to legit complement their talent. That'd work out better if so many of their young arms haven't missed a lot of recent time with arm troubles (Kingham, Tallion, etc.), meaning they're not as ready to come up and contribute as they would have been.

  I get it. I'm not one of the fools on Twitter complaining to the Reds media. Like I said, I realize they don't need Frazier, Chapman, Phillips, Bruce, etc. to do this poorly. Just going to be a couple more sad seasons at GABP (probably, who knows).
  I'm still fascinated with how rebuilding works in baseball, though. The Reds are making these moves and probably won't be competitive until like 2018. Just a lot more planned out long-term in baseball than football or basketball.

  Yes....he wanted the Reds to give him a big number to accept the trade.
  
  He has no desire to play on a contender and not even for the manager that will let him do whatever.
  
  He's content to play for a 95 loss team because he can play everyday and no matter how good or bad will be slobbered on by all of the Reds announcers and he need not do anything to have a gigantic contingent of fans. For the Reds he can bat 1st, 2nd or 4th without any worry. If he slumps and bats .225, it doesn't matter. He'll be in there everyday and probably in front of Votto to get some pitches.
  
  How can a player past his prime that has accomplished about everything he's capable of not want to go play for a strong contender? Have a chance to be a postseason winner/hero.....do it a couple times and then have an argument for HOF.

  Just announced that Ken Griffey Jr was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame...I'm going to share a fairly lengthy but awesome story that I had with Jr.
  My wife and I went to a Reds game on Father's Day back in June of 2007. It was around 100 degrees that Sunday afternoon. The Reds were hosting the Rangers and we were in the front row of the right field seats. This Rangers team happened to have a guy named Sammy Sosa who was in his final season and was sitting on 599 career HR. Needless to say we had planned well for a potential huge happenings in the park as also Griffey Jr was by then playing right field for the Reds.
  As the game begins Sosa was not in the Rangers lineup. Griffey was in RF and as he was out there and the Rangers were batting a very large man probably around age 50 was wearing n Adam Dunn jersey but kept yelling and cheering for Sammy Sosa....as the game went on Jr (who was at 580+ HR himself) started messing with this guy. One inning he would turn around and give him the shhh sign...next inning her was giving him the "you're crazy" sign, then he gave him the "you've been drinking too much" gesture....but the guy wouldn't stop cheering for Sosa to get into the game. He and Griffey were both having a great time going at it. Finally, later in the game Sosa is called on to pinch hit and the big Reds fan was going crazy and Griffey was laughing. Sosa made an out and Griffey jogged in for the home half of the inning. As the Reds came back out in the top of the 8th....Griffey had a ball and was coming right to where I was seated on the aisle. For 2-3 seconds I was like "he's giving me a ball" as he got to the wall he looked up at me and said "where's that guy at?"...before I could turn to look for him here he came flying down the steps and hip checks me aside. Griffey tosses him a baseball. The guy starts rotating the ball nervously and he sees it has writing in it. The guy asked him "what's it say? What's it say?"....I told him, that's Sammy Sosa's autograph. The guy couldn't even talk and had the most unbelievable look on his face and the beginning of tears....Griffey saw that he couldn't speak and said "happy Father's Day big guy" and returned to his position.
  
  I'll never forget that 20 second happening....good as it gets, but sure wish he was getting me a ball

  Apparently, the BBHOF gave Griffey the option of having his hat backwards on his plaque, he declined.
