Fox's coverage blows. Just show the damn golf.

I don't mind the coverage too much. Good graphics and a few familiar voices. I don't like the "waiting to see if Day is going to collapse" analysis...but everything else ok

Spieth is in the driving seat
  • Tiernan
DJ has grabbed the steering wheel from Speith. Anybody but some South African or Dutch boy from Holland.
  • Tiernan
Greg Norman has overstayed his visit to the booth by about 3 hrs.

It's been brutal. The interviews particularly awkward. Earlier interviewed Ernie Els, and the 1 question was about Grace. Now Kevin Kisner gets interviewed and both questions they throw at him are about Jason Day. What the fuck is that?
  • Ironman92
It's awkward....I haven't watched a ton today. They are rooting for Day to collapse on the course and golf fans aren't much about drama. For 30 years I've been good with CBS, ABC and NBC....Fox is a big boy and this major feels like the XFL or something.

Holly Sonders is brutal on the interviews. I hope they make this a regular place also btw, this has been a very entertaining tournament to watch with all of the crazy rolls.

And Laley no way does Tiger shoot a 62 with his game how it is at Stone Ridge. I would say maybe -2 or -3 under at best

Johnny Miller is probably punching holes in the drywall tonight after watching these hacks. The golf has been good enough to overcome the amateurish Fox broadcast.
  • Spock
This is starting to feel like a regular outing. By Sunday this will feel nothing like a major.
  • Ironman92
Ben Martin goes 67-70 to be in great position and shoots an 86 yesterday.

You can't seriously believe that. He would walk in and ask what the course record is at Stone Ridge and break it by 3.
  • Spock
this tournament isn't going to be won....someone will lose it.

For those of you who do the draft kings competition, how "good" does your team have to be to finish in the money?

    Right now I'm at:
    T1) Day
    T5) Oosthuizen
    T15) schwarztel
    T46) Luke Donald
    T66) mickelson
    And McDowell missed the cut

    Is that good? Bad?

Edit: looks like I'm currently 3200 out of 22,000 and top 45'ish00 get paid. So not bad.

Depends on type. There are some where the top 50% get paid. In the contest details...it will tell you tell payouts.

I have a real solid one in the Millionaire Maker right now. I'm in 4000-ish place out of 143k+.

    Louie- 5
    Stenson- 9
    Reed- 9
    Matsuyama- 19
    Na- 25
    Casey- 25

See my edit, I looked at the details...top 4600get paid and I'm right around there. I'll take some money back for having half my team in the shitter.

Well the U.S. Open qualifier there had a 74 as the winner. I don't believe Tiger would qualify for the U.S. Open in the district rounds, he would get out of the local though.

Just watch the guy, he doesn't even know how far his irons are going. How the hell would he go so low

Back 20 years ago just out of high school I was playing in the championship flight of our local Franklin Valley Open. The course is an easy par 71 but during this tournament they make the pins damn near unfair. I (a 19 year old) was put in a group with the club champion (who routinely shot 65-68 on this course) and once shot 61 for the course record....and the other guy was some guy from Ironton named John Gagai....turns out he was on the tour for a short time but couldn't make it or maintain his card. On Day 1 I shot a disappointing 79...Club champ shot a 66 and Gagai shot a 65. Day 2 club champ shot 65 and tournament champ Gagai went 64....with insane pins on a course he never played. Not sure he was ever ranked in the top 1,000 but went 65-64.
  • Tiernan
Started off the broadcast with Joe Buck telling the other 4 guys he didn't know them very well and didn't know who was a Dad or not...Jesus dipshit do some routine homework before you open your mouth.
  • Tiernan
Mickelson going thru the motions - can't wait to get on his private plane and place a bet on who he thinks will be the winner.

Rory making this thing very interesting right now

I hope Jason Day dies before the day is over.

This is reaching a "Jerome Bettis is from Detroit" and "Brady Quinn and AJ Hawk are related" type level now and I have just had it. The guy should have been forced to withdraw on Friday.

Rory just leaked a bunch of urine down his leg missing a gimmie that would have pushed him to only 1 back.

Fox is completely horrendous and I hate their coverage. Holly always seems to have that look on her face like she'd be more comfortable interviewing these guys from her knees.

None of these people know golf and it shows in the quality of the broadcast.
