115th United States Open at Chambers Bay
-
TBone14Always one of my favorite championships. TV coverage is wall to wall...not the nonsense you get at the Master's.
Father's Day weekend. Nothing like cooking out with your dad and watching Sunday at the US Open.
This year, the best in the world head to Chambers Bay near Tacoma/Seattle, nestled on The Sound. The course and it's layout have already stirred up controversy and has many wondering if it will be a 'fair test". I, for one, love to watch the best in the world struggle and grind on the toughest golf courses.
Cannot wait. Thursday and Friday you can find coverage starting at noon on Fox Sports 1 and then on Fox from 8-11, primetime and live. -
Ironman92Thinking Mickleson takes it. Rooting for Fowler.
Cant bot ever leave out Justin Rose -
gerb131Thinking -5 wins it. It will be a Euro who takes it.

Ironman92-4 for the win...only 2 finish under par
-
QuakerOatsI have -2 winning. Can't wait to see the roll, the undulation and the putts .....should be interesting. I think the good iron players should do well.
-
HereticI did see that if Rory would win it, he'd join Jack and Tiger in the "only guys to have 5 majors before age 27" club.
-
Ironman92That's a good club.

Heretic
That is true. Kind of surprised me a bit, but then again, I don't really follow golf that much and Rory hasn't really gotten the all-encompassing coverage that Tiger did.Ironman92;1735261 wrote:That's a good club. -
like_thatINb4 CC takes a shot at at tiger.

lhslep134In b4 Classy makes a dumb post comparing Chambers Bay to some bum-fuck course he played and shot 85 at.
"He 3 putted that? I would have definitely 2 putted, because that's what happened at _______ Golf Club" -

I've never even seen a course like that before lol. I have played the Masterpiece course designed by RTJ and you had to run your ball all over the place so I imagine with this being a true links it's that to the extreme. Also had some serious drops on that course, with one 80 foot drop on a 3 and a 320 par 4 that featured a 65 foot droplhslep134;1735283 wrote:In b4 Classy makes a dumb post comparing Chambers Bay to some bum-fuck course he played and shot 85 at.

Well, just cause he has 5 to join that list doesn't mean he is anywhere close to the others...I believe Tiger had 8 and Jack 7 at that age mark. -

Even better.lhslep134;1735283 wrote:In b4 Classy makes a dumb post comparing Chambers Bay to some bum-fuck course he played and shot 85 at.

He does have a better swing than Tiger but also more competition. Tiger did dominate in an era that was not nearly as star laden as this oneLaley23;1735293 wrote:Well, just cause he has 5 to join that list doesn't mean he is anywhere close to the others...I believe Tiger had 8 and Jack 7 at that age mark.

Anerica has seen the talented Englishman....Tiger was very different and a good bit more dominant than Rory at his peak.Heretic;1735265 wrote:That is true. He has a better swing than Tiger... right now.
Tiger had a perfect swing. Unfortunately for him, it wasn't good enough. -
TBone14Folks, if somebody tries to argue with you about Rory vs Tiger...they aren't worth arguing with.
It is so not even close that it is ridiculous. Rory is awesome, great...etc. He's in his prime. And he just missed back to back cuts. Back to back cuts!
Tiger turned pro in 1996. He missed 1 cut in 1997 and then didn't miss another until 2005. 142 tournaments. Nobody is ever touching that again. His greatness during that period is hard to put into words. Rory won the US Open by 8. A dominate performance. Tiger won the 2000 US Open by 15! Nearly double that. Tom Watson said it was the greatest accomplishment in the history of golf.
It's not a debate. -

Chambers Bay is not a "true links" course. It really isn't a links course at all, although it does have some of the characteristics of a links course. Regardless, it should be an interesting test, and fun to watch. -
TBone14
I agree with you. Typical "links" courses don't have this type of elevation change.QuakerOats;1735573 wrote:Chambers Bay is not a "true links" course. However, all of the players are calling it a Links course. Rory said that this course, "will play more like a Links courses than some of the Links courses we play" and Phil compared it very closely to St. Andrews. -

Of course it's not a debate. The only person stupid enough to think otherwise is Classy -

I agree I'm just saying technically Rory has a better pure swing. It's around the green where Tiger pulls ahead quite a bitLaley23;1735367 wrote:Tiger was so much better than Rory is now. Not even close
