I don't think fouling Tristan was a good percentage play either. But what you fail to factor in is that the game gets extended. No time off the clock is a huge plus and was part of the reason an 11 point lead evaporated in 3 minutes. Even last night, they gave the Cavs 2 points on 2 possessions. Thats 50% shooting in a game they went 32%. So retarded by Kerr. It did allow for a 5-2 run (8-2 if you count the 3 BEFORE the hacks), but that is due in large part to JR being retarded. In general, if your the Cavs, you have to love that. GS is a team who wants to get up and down and score easier buckets. Even off a missed FT, you will have your defense set up.
I have been saying all along you need a guy who shoots about 20% for the Hack-a-Whoever to actually work. Otherwise, as Sleeper said, its a losing strategy that has very little chance at succeeding. -

And...so sick and tired of pump fakes and then diving into the defender the way Curry does to get fouls. They need to change the rule. If you pump fake and dive into the defender, then you should get a 3 game suspension.. to me it's a lot worse that flopping. -

I agree with this. It's a bad rule. Now if you pump fake and the guy lunges at you, and you go straight up and he hits you then its a foul. Just as bad is grabbing the defender on purpose away from the ball( Curry on Thompson)...you shouldn't get an advantage in any shape or form for a play like that. I don't know how the "powers that be" look at that and don't make a change. Meanwhile guys get away with hacks because it's "incidental contact".

Houston tried it, and got annihilated, stopped and won the series...
Teams tried it with Shaq...he got 3 Titles. The numbers dont lie, it doesnt work and is a HORRIBLE basketball play, even if the shooter only makes 40% of them -

Like I said....I agree with you that as a percentage play, it's not wise to foul a 64% free throw shooter. But I disagree with you in saying that it didn't work last night. It did work.
