Sour Grapes regarding the Steelers

bulldog8 wrote: I know we will see it on numerous threads on the forum so I decided I would create a thread for all the Steeler - haters to whine. I personally am a Steeler fan who feels that the Steelers really don't deserve to make the playoffs this season. However, with their current lead over the Dolphins at 24-10 and the Texans trailing the Patriots 20-13, it looks like the Steelers might have a fighting chance. If the Raiders can beat the Ravens or the Bengals could beat the Jets, Pittsburgh will earn a wildcard spot. So let's hear all the complaints of how the NFL is fixed and the refs purposely will do all they can to get the Steelers into the playoffs. I'm sure there will be plenty of excuses that the commissioner called and told Matt Schaub to throw an interception returned for a touchdown or the NFL put something in the Jets water later tonight that made them play bad. Fact of the matter is, I think it looks ridiculous when people accuse the NFL of being rigged. So let's hear it and i'll sit back and laugh :)
I guess when the phone rang this time nobody answered. Hahahaha

I love when idiots pull the "if you live here, you should cheer for this team" argument. It's laughable to be honest.

Bandwaggoning annoys me, but I never said it was illegal. Next you'll all be cheering for teams because you like their colors.

It's more than laughable, it's assine. Using that logic, every person that lives in New York City MUST root for the Buffalo Bills, because they're the only NFL team in New York state.

Yeah, and dragging colleges into the mix (if you like the Steelers, why don't you cheer for Pitt) is even more stupid.

Let's see, my dad graduated from Ohio State. Therefore, I grew up in a Buckeye home. Therefore, I'm an OSU fan. I graduated from Ohio U. Therefore, I'm a Bobcat fan. Notice how those ALL-SO-IMPORTANT matters such as state lines don't seem to enter any of this reasoning. I have a personal connection to those two universities and that is why I cheer for them. The fact I live in the same state and "should" cheer for, say, the Buckeyes doesn't even enter the equation.

I don't see why I'm not allowed to be a fan of whatever team I want. Next you'll be telling me that going to college out of state is somehow laughable. And you better only buy cars put together in Ohio too.

Territorial alliances to almost anything are stupid. Cheer for, drive, and do things because you like them not because they are from or made where you live.

True, but it is fun to laugh at the lame arguments made by the "YOU'RE A BANDWAGONER!" people. Especially since it seems like the only people who use that argument are ones who cheer for a loser and need something to feel good about after watching yet another abortion of a season.

There are situations where your dad went to OSU or where ever, but I would bet that 95% of the bandwagon jumpers just follow because they want to be associated with a winner. You know there are people out there that cheer for the Steelers, Yankees, Lakers, USC and so on. I personally think it's silly....To get excited that a team from Cali, Fla, Tx. Pa. NY. or anywhere else takes a trophy home to their respective city....IN ANOTHER STATE....and you, living here in Ohio gets excited about it. Sorry, that's just me....not saying you're wrong....just silly.

I went to OSU and I'm a diehard Steeler fan. I grew up in the Ohio Valley....that is all the reasoning that you need to know.

Let's see....I was born in Ohio, was raised in Ohio, and currently live in Ohio. I have no plans on leaving Ohio. But I'm excited and celebrating because in some arena....say, in LA, there sits a trophy. All the way across the country? Silly.

It might just be me but silly is getting your panties in a bunch over an invisible line. Especially when someone can travel 45 minutes to see their favorite team as opposed to 90 minutes just because they're in the same state.

You sound like that troll f-son, bbmind, or whatever other dumb name he came up with because of numerous bannings from that other site.

And with your response, you sound like a bandwagon jumper.

The Lombardi trophy of my team sits less than an hour from me. The Stanley Cup does too. (Ok, it's in Toronto at this moment but you get my point--then again, you probably don't). That's closer to me than any other professional team in the NFL or NHL. And I'm silly?

And before I get the Pittsburgh bandwagoner tag put on me...yes I'm a fan of the Pirates too.

Been a Pittsburgh fan since I was 5 in the late 60's. So go ahead and assume that I'm a bandwagon jumper BBmind. Didn't know that 5 year olds could be a bandwagoner, but whatever, keep enjoying the Browns.

My panties aren't in a bunch, I could care less in the big scheme of things, like I said, it annoys me, but I don't lose any sleep over it.

I enjoyed that win over the steelers a month ago, in your face....Oh, wait....were you cheering for the steelers that day? Saints? Colts?

I would guess that you bandwagon jumpers have a higher rate of divorce also, I mean hey, when someone else prettier comes along you gotta jump, right?

Glad you enjoyed it. I enjoyed the 13 in a row before that one Fson. Will be a Pittsburgh fan till I die. I've never changed my loyalities to my favorite team in my life and never will.

By the way, you still haven't answered my previous question. Everyone in NYC is a bandwagoner because they don't cheer for the Bills, right? You know, the Bills? The ONLY professional football team in New York...

Are you married? Did you marry your sister? She was the closest female to you right? If you arent married, are you sure your girlfriend wasnt ugly in the past and not now? Wouldnt that be like jumping on the "bandwagon"?

Well first off, I didn't answer because it wasn't in the form of a question, unless you're Alex Trebec. Secondly, who is your college team of choice.

That is why? Sure it is. It doesn't have anything to do with the fact that the Browns suck does it? Face it, if the Browns had won several super bowls and were like 12-4 or 13-3 going into the playoffs this year, half of the "Ohio Steelers" would be Browns fans.

"Every other state has the same thing so you do not root for anyone? "

Every state has a message board like the huddle(s) and I'm sure they have asshole homers who post either to rile people up or who honestly mean it but I only have this one. And since you cannot infer someone's meaning when its electronic I assume they honestly mean it. Thus I cannot root for anything which would make them happy. I hope OSU, cleveland, cincy, cavs, indians, reds, etc etc etc lose every single game every year. I hope the mascot falls down the stairs and breaks his legs. I wouldn't piss on Jim Tressle if he was on fire. And why? Because of assholes on a message board who I cannot afford to have one moment of sports happiness.

Rationally I know that most of the people on his board and the old board are not in this category so a small part of me sympathizes for them when the team you love perennially lets you down, I know the feeling quite well from my CFB fav.

Funny thing is Cincy is having the kind of year and frankly the kind of decade long success browns fans could only dream about....and yet I can still say fuck cincy, I hope they go down in flames instead of running out to buy a jersey or a god help me, snuggie with their emblem. So no, you're wrong, much like you're wrong to think either in jest or being serious that people need to feel some kind of connection and love for their state. This isn't 1850.

I'm not wrong, I never stated or hinted that one must root for their home team. In fact I feel the opposite you can root for whoever you want for whatever reason or for no reason at all.
