Browns End of 2014 Season Thread (Iggy-free)

You have all this hype and the crowd pumped up, win the toss...defer?...Ok fine, your defense is what you built the team on, you defer. Mingo screws up and Cincy drives and scores. Then you come out and run the ball 3 straight times.

Then Cincy is bringing the house all game and you continue to run the same plays. I'd like to see him without guys at his feet before the ball gets there, but at least we will find out NOW and not week 1 next year.
Cincy had the right game plan. The Browns secondary is exceptional. Best in the league. Their front 7 is very bad against stopping the run. Any opposing O-Coordinator, who is smart, should pound the run (unless they have a crappy rushing attack, like Indy) until the Browns can prove they can stop it. They couldn't stop it against Jax & Alfred Blue (Texans), so most teams are going to be able to run on them.

Regardless of a few touting Shanahan as an offensive "genius", he is pretty predictable. At least on 1st downs.

I highly doubt we lose our OC like some thought we would last week haha

Um the gameplan I didn't get. Going out of the pistol of the majority of the time was stupid. Why didn't the do more boot legs? Get the pocket moving? Get him on the edge. The play calling was horrible, on first down you knew a run was coming.

To be fair our front 7 is depleted, but shitty nonetheless. If I am farmer I am fixing that issue with both first round picks. If they can stop the run and find someone who can give pressure opposite of Kruger, that defense could be scary.

He did it with RG3 his rookie season, so I assume he thought it would work with manziel. The difference is RG3 had a whole off season to prepare.

That was a bullshit call by the refs.....and that turned that drive around and gave Cinci early momentum that they never lost. I'm not saying at all that it changed the outcome of this football game....only bemoaning the fact that this kind of call has changed the game in general. Geez....Just let them play football.

Might have not cost us the game yesterday, but it cost us last week.

I still think the Browns were thinking about last weeks game. That's one of those games that ends a season.

Cinci was pouring in over center all day. . One play where Manziel tried to run a read option, and Cinci lineman beat the RB to Manziel. Offensive line play was horrible.

Oh, I agree it's depleted. Even at full strength that haven't been good at stopping the run. I don't get it. Regardless of the D-Corrdinator, since 1999, it seems like they have no idea how to play run defense.

Also agree they need to stock up on defense. That right side of the line sucks ass too. If they are going to be a "run first" team like I think Pettine prefers, they need some big uglies on that side of the line.

I'm sure that talk will start turning to the draft soon enough. Such a shame because at 7-4, these guys were sitting pretty. Now, I wonder if they will even get to .500?

    LOL ;)

If you looked at that game unit by unit, you would say the whole team needs to be replaced.
    Nobody played well.

What pissed me off is that they friggin advertised it before the game. I'm sure Cincy knew it was coming and the O-Line needs to enforce their will and make the Bengals stop it but does Shanahan have to come out and say "you'll see a lot of read option?" I was listening to the pregame, heard this and was thinking "WTF?"

The Mingo call and the two calls on the screen plays were complete horse shit. Two of those 3 changed the complex of the game at the time. 1 would've stopped Cincy in its tracks, the other might have been a little momentum for the offense.

My problems with the game yesterday:

Got sick of Jeremy Hill. The guy disses the Browns defense and we can't stop him. The only guy that put a good hit on him was the guy that kept him from jumping into the stands. I now hate Jeremy Hill.

Not being able to get a first down. Blame the defense, but after each score the offense totally failed. More first downs by penalty than by action. Dropped passes. Confusion about play calls….

Bengals defense players doing the money sign. Thanks Johnny-now we get to see that every time you don’t make a play.

Manziel doing everything the fan-boi's said he wouldn't do. Inaccurate, weak armed, slow, not smart…..can we all agree Hoyer could have done everything he did with the exception of getting the 15 yards for Mualuaga's money sign penalty?

The one sided officiating early was too obvious....

Mingo hit dalton in the head. By the letter of the law, that was a penalty. You can not like the rule, but that's another conversation. Arguing whether or not he hit dalton in the head isn't an argument.

Sounds like Haden may be done for the year. With the chance of the playoffs done, might as well not take any chances with him.

Nothing yet. Just heard he took a shot to the head. I must have missed that play? When did he get hurt?

2nd qt. never returned. My guess is concussion, and he might sit rest of season.
  • BR1986FB
Dansby was close to returning against Cincy and Gipson was targeting Carolina as a return date. I'd end their season too.

That's weird. I never noticed. Thought I saw him in the 3rd quarter. LOL I saw Desir finally got some PT.

He'll be back. Just waiting for things to die down.

Yeah, he'll wait until Johnny does something better than the turd he threw up yesterday.
