Browns End of 2014 Season Thread (Iggy-free)

SportsAndLadyI just can't get over the fact that manziel finally got his start, and iggy went off the deepend saying Pettine should be fired for that performance lol

Pettine purposely sabotaged Manziel, because clearly the HC doesn't want his QB to succeed. That's always a great formula to keep your job.SportsAndLady;1686191 wrote:I just can't get over the fact that manziel finally got his start, and iggy went off the deepend saying Pettine should be fired for that performance lol -
lhslep134My thoughts:
Johnny did some good and some bad. I think it's most important to note that I really don't know how any non-superstar QB could have handled how poorly the offensive line played. Whether credit goes to Cinci or blame to Cleveland, it was a recipe for disaster for most QBs.
That being said, I liked the way Johnny moved around and kept his eyes downfield, even if he was inaccurate with some throws. Obviously some of his decision making was bad (see the INTs), but I kind of expected that, seeing that he's a rookie. What I didn't expect was the first 6 possessions of the game to result in no points for Cleveland and 17 for Cinci. That was a fatal setback for a rookie QB.
Oh well. Good win Cinci. Looking forward to seeing improvement from JFF next week. -

He is really going to need to focus on his footwork this off season. Like I said, some (in this case a lot) humble pie can go a long way. JFF is pretty competitive, and he is not going to like that outcome when he has all off season to try and get better.lhslep134;1686194 wrote:My thoughts:

lhslep134I know this goes against protocol but since IQQY is banned from this thread, should we just ride out the regular season here?

like_thatAlso, now that the season is over, I didn't want to say it when it happened, but losing Mack cost us the season. The offense went down hill from that point on.

Definitely had his argument ready for a Manziel failureSportsAndLady;1686191 wrote:I just can't get over the fact that manziel finally got his start, and iggy went off the deepend saying Pettine should be fired for that performance lol -
Con_AlmaSecond worst rating for a rookie QB debut since the Browns returned in 99. ugh

Yup. Next man up in the NFL but Pro Bowl centers are especially difficult to replace.like_that;1686200 wrote:Also, now that the season is over, I didn't want to say it when it happened, but losing Mack cost us the season. The offense went down hill from that point on. -

I was honestly shocked that his footwork was so poor, and it don't look like he worked on it at all. I expected bad decisions, confusion on play calls, and inaccuracy, but I didn't expect to see what looked like a WR or RB trying to be a QB.like_that;1686195 wrote:He is really going to need to focus on his footwork this off season. ......and the return of Josh Gordon. -

Didnt Mack go out before Gordon came back? Mack going down killed the running attack. Way more to do with Mack.Gardens35;1686229 wrote:......and the return of Josh Gordon. -
gerb131All overshadowing another poor performance from one Andrew Dalton.

I'll let this one slide. One pass hw fucked up changes his stats completely.gerb131;1686274 wrote:All overshadowing another poor performance from one Andrew Dalton. -

This is true....to win both games left he'll have to be huge in one of them, especially Denver.gerb131;1686274 wrote:All overshadowing another poor performance from one Andrew Dalton. -

Commander of AwesomeCongrats to the bengals. They owned the line of scrimmage and forced their will. The running game they displayed was a thing of beauty, and something I hope the browns to do one day. They continue to play like this, and they're on their way to winning their first playoff game in a very long time.

Let me explain this in a way that even a whiny-assed little boy like you can understand.SportsAndLady;1686142 wrote:^not surprised the old dudes thought that was funny
The expansion Browns SUCK and Johnny Show-Me-the-Money Football isn't going to show Cleveland the promised land now or in the future anymore than Thugger LJ will lead the Cavs to an NBA championship.
Cleveland football hasn't been a force since Art Scumbag Modell changed the name of the real Browns to the Baltimore Ravens.
But - hey - the minor league Browns gotta cool new stadium outta the deal. -

Don't know that I necessarily agree with that. I'd think that most playoff teams would focus on shutting down their running game and forcing Dalton to beat them. Had Cincy not given up on their running game in the first meeting with the Browns, I think the score would've been closer but the Browns would've still taken it. The Bengals exposed an extremely shitty run defense yesterday.Commander of Awesome;1686285 wrote:They continue to play like this, and they're on their way to winning their first playoff game in a very long time. -

bases_loadedI didn't like the game plan at the beginning of the game at all. You have all this hype and the crowd pumped up, win the toss...defer?...Ok fine, your defense is what you built the team on, you defer. Mingo screws up and Cincy drives and scores. Then you come out and run the ball 3 straight times.
Then Cincy is bringing the house all game and you continue to run the same plays. I'd like to see him without guys at his feet before the ball gets there, but at least we will find out NOW and not week 1 next year. -
