Browns End of 2014 Season Thread (Iggy-free)

BrooksideFirst post. if the Browns line is healthy it doesn't matter who is QB. Hoyer should have started.

ts1227On the bright side, this is the first time in 6 weeks they didn't miss a FG

If you told me dalton was going to give that stat line before the game, I would have predicted a win. Just pathetic and glad I turned the tv off after the half.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1686077 wrote:What an embarrassing loss. Completely owned in every facet of the game. -

Yeah, we really need to get healthy on the defensive side of the ball. We've snuck by a few times over the last month and a half by getting the other team to turn the ball over, but when they commit to the run, our defense is a sieve. Offense had NOTHING going for them. Bengals dared us to pass by committing their focus to the run, and we couldn't do it. Offensive line couldn't block one of the least productive defensive lines in the league. Just pathetic.like_that;1686078 wrote:If you told me dalton was going to give that stat line before the game, I would have predicted a win. vball10setMy god, that was awful.

BR1986FBWell, that was a coat hanger abortion if I've ever saw one. Defense looked like shit, Manziel looked like shit, O-Line looked like shit. These last two weeks probably won't be fun to watch.

Azubuike24John Lynch did make a decent point that the Browns playmakers need to adapt to playing with a scramble first, throw on the move QB.
The Bengals did well in coverage, but Manziel did have a few plays where he had some scramble room and that's exactly where he's got potential to make big plays. He certainly doesn't look like he can drop back and make great throws from inside a pocket. -
Devils AdvocateIn the absence of a running game, no one wins.
JFF, or anyone else would have lost this game. -

What I watched he actually made a couple good decisions but either the receiver didn't hold on (Hawkins) or a penalty negated it. He had plenty of dumb rookie stuff.
He's saying the right things but his past behavior has put a big ol target on his back...everyone's going to relish the chance to show him up. I probably only watched a quarter of the game but that was as bad as I have seen Ckeveland play in some time. -

Both good points, but what's the defenses' excuse?Devils Advocate;1686095 wrote:In the absence of a running game, no one wins.

They definitely got gouged. Didn't put the playcalling in a position to succeed. No excuse for JFF though. He still looked like a rookie in his first start. Bad.vball10set;1686124 wrote:Both good points, but what's the defenses' excuse? -
se-alumI think Shannahan has to be less predictable with play calling. The Bengals didn't respect the passing game at all, and running every first down played right into their hands. That doesn't excuse the bad decisions that Manziel made, but you have to help a rookie QB a little more.

BR1986FB
He did that shit against Buffalo and I was pulling my hair out. Set Hoyer up for failure with 2nd/3rd & longs almost every series. When they completed a rare pass on 1st down, it opened up the running game.se-alum;1686127 wrote:I think Shannahan has to be less predictable with play calling. like_thatWell lhslep was spot on. There was going to be overreaction regardless of JFF's performance. Not really surprising. I do find it idiotic that some browns fans are mocking JFF's performance. You realize he plays for our team, right? I rather IQQY/FW be right and gloat about it, then us have to find a new QB after next season.
JFF had a heavy dose of humble pie today. It might be what he needs, especially heading to the off season. -

A few could see this one coming from a mile away. Too much hype for the Browns/Manziel while the Bengals got to sit back and lay low.
Now that all of the commotion has settled, let's see how JFF does before pulling the plug. He looked like shit today but so have many rookies in their first start.
