Probably wishful thinking, but I could see him playing solid as an ilb if he put on weight.Commander of Awesome;1680557 wrote:Trying to adjust my expectations of Mingo. The guy had 4 fucking sacks his last season in college, hardly a sack artist. He's not a pass rusher, he's a coverage LBer that has a place in the league. We wasted a 6th pick on him, but he has value. Plays well in space, is getting MUCH better against the run (dont see 75 TD runs bc he took a bad lane/angle anymore), and is a great locker room guy. I think we'll be a better team with him not playing every down, but he's a solid OLBer, a terrible pass rusher.
HE should put on some weight though, as like_that said.

Commander of AwesomeWe already have a fast coverage, non thumper ILBer in Robertson. I like him covering TEs much better than trying to keep lane integrity thumping RBs. Just don't think he has ILBer mentality, but again this is all conjecture.

BR1986FBMingo is solid in certain aspects of the game. He just hasn't panned out to be what they'd hoped they'd drafted, a pass rusher. Using a #6 pick on a run stopping/coverage OLB, when you needed a fierce/impact pass rusher is, as you guys would say an "LOLfail."

I popped a huuuuge load on that run...you bet. Scraping the stains off the big screen this morning. That's what happens jshmuck, whenever you see justice righted.jmog;1680531 wrote:I would say that I am 70/30 on who starts next week. 70% Manziel and here is why:
More importantly, how many of us believe that Booms, Failwedge, and IQQY were all jizzing in their pants when Manziel ran in for the TD?
Did anyone notice how Hoyer turned his back in disdain after that touchdown run? Yeah...he's all about the team.? -

The last 2 games? Is that a typo? What is the matter with you? He has been God awful for the last six weeks.SportsAndLady;1680527 wrote:The Browns have Indy at home next week correct? I don't see how you don't go with hoyer against a defense that won't pressure him like buffalo and Atlanta did, and we still aren't technically out of playoff contention.
And take a chill pill if you are about to respond to this post with a "but JFF is going to canton!!!! You hoyer nutsack loving douche!!!"
I'm not at all saying he is our QB of the future. Just that he has done exactly what has been asked of him (minus the last two games..) and has, at the very least, gotten the Browns back to relevancy. Which is better than the last 20 QBs have done so before I throw the guy under the bus and call him a bum for the last few weeks, I'll give him some credit for doing what this franchise desperately needed.
Listen up Einstein.... Consider these....
Hoyer's qback rating the last 3 games. 54....53...and then 51. He is now the 27th rated quarterback in the league. He's thrown 6 picks, four more passes that should have been picked, and only 1 touchdown pass. Is that what "we asked him to do"?
Pettine owes an apology to the fans of this city. He should be ashamed of himself in costing us a chance of watching a playoff team. With that said...if you an win the Heisman as a 19 year old, and shred the eventual national champs in their building, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if the Browns run the table with this kid.
Anybody that still thinks Hoyer should play...even one more snap this year, you really need to find something else to do on Sunday afternoons. -
Footwedgeplay for far too long And now Baskin is ripping Browns fans for "being happy" today after a loss. Listen up asshole....we have had to watch garbage quarterback play all year. True Browns fans are elated today...and rightfully so.
-
BR1986FBHoyer's numbers over the last six games have been really bad. The only reason he's kept his job is because they have been winning, in many cases, in spite of him. He was brutal against Houston, Atlanta and yesterday. That being said, the thoughts of the Browns "running the table" with Manziel are quite funny, and delusional.
-
FootwedgeAnd now I'm listening to Baskin chastising Browns fans for being happy today. Oh really? Maybe you are excited to watch more horrendous quarterback play...well we aren't.
There actually are callers that want Hoyer to start next week. Can't make this shit up folks. -

It's quite funny and delusional that a 19 year old kid would shred the eventual national champs in their own building too. On a defense that had 4 or 5 shutouts that year and had 8 people off that defense drafted ..3 of which were drafted in the first rounds.BR1986FB;1680584 wrote:Hoyer's numbers over the last six games have been really bad. Just can't handle the 80 yard drive engineered yesterday....can you?
It's not probable....but it very well could happen. -
se-alumWhen you can't run the ball, and don't have a Peyton, Brady, or Rodgers at QB, you're going to struggle. Hell, even the Broncos struggled for a couple weeks when they couldn't get a running game going.

FootwedgeAnd then there is weekly Hoyer nut hugger, DeRon Cherry crying to Rizzo that Manziel was up after midnight last week. LMAO.

Let's just crown him because he beat Alabama, a COLLEGE team. :rolleyes:Footwedge;1680588 wrote:It's quite funny and delusional that a 19 year old kid would shred the eventual national champs in their own building too. I was tickled shitless he lead them to that TD ("80 yard drive"). I just take issue with classless/assholes who claim to be Browns "fans" (see you, Chuck Booms, Iggy, etc) who have wished injury on Hoyer and give him credit for NOTHING.
Yes, he's a journeyman/stopgap which we ALL knew, but even Manziel himself yesterday admitted he wasn't ready to lead this team earlier in the season. It's assholes like you, Booms, etc who wanted to throw the kid to the wolves when he wasn't nearly ready. -
FootwedgeAfter yesterday's game, all the assholes on here that think Manziel is inaccurate, has a weak arm... and so on...learn a lesson. If you never watched a kid play in college, then you have no right throwing out your 2 bits.

This team would be 10-2 had Manziel started from the get go. A "not quite ready" Manziel is a lot better than a running out the guy who has posted the 27th worst rating in the league.BR1986FB;1680595 wrote:Let's just crown him because he beat Alabama, a COLLEGE team.

Haha...you're so fucking dumb. Not a chance. He admitted himself in his presser yesterday that "no way that (80 yard TD drive) happens in week 3." He's gotten progressively better, week by week, by watching and learning (his words, not my opinion).Footwedge;1680597 wrote:This team would be 10-2 had Manziel started from the get go. Late first rounders you can go with a RT, one of our 2 1st rounders will be in the bottom 12 (playoffs) most likely as I see either the Browns or Bills being right there.BR1986FB;1680539 wrote:Generally, you're not going to use a 1st rounder on a RT/RG. Very good O-Lineman can be found in the second round (see Bitonio) to fourth rounds. I'd be looking for defense in those first two spots unless there's a Jimmy Graham/Rob Gronkowski-like TE available that won't make it to the 2nd round.
I think the defense is a few pieces away from being top notch. I'm in the minority, at least on here, where I think that corner is also a priority. I wouldn't use a 1st rounder (Pettine/Farmer might though in that Pettine loves him some corners) on one but I'd snag a very good one in FA or in the draft. Skrine is scrappy but being short kills him and I'm not at all sold on Gilbert.
If they are both in the middle of the pack, then I say you can trade down one of them to a low first and go with a RT.
If they have both and stay around mid 1st round, you are right, I say we go 2 defensive players and get a right side OL in the 2nd round. -

I just think it's funny that "they'd be 10-2" (because FW said so) when Manziel admits himself he wasn't ready. Most of what has come out is that he wasn't ready, but no "they'd be 10-2." smdhjmog;1680604 wrote:BR, don't let things like facts get in the way of Failwedge's useless rants. -

As someone who casually watches the Browns you are correct sir. I mean Manziel might not be a better passer but he at least has good speed and can make plays happen in that way. Hoyer has played 1 potential playoff team in the Bengals in the last 7 games with a statline that reads 4 TD's & 9 INT's. You cannot continue to start himBR1986FB;1680584 wrote:Hoyer's numbers over the last six games have been really bad. Hoyer seems to be brutal in the red zone. So many FG's and not enough TD's. This is why I've been advocating some kind of red zone package for Manziel. We saw yesterday what he can do inside the 20. Will it be throwing for TD's? Maybe, maybe not, but he's a threat to move the chains with his feet. My biggest concern, as Al Bundy mentioned on the other thread, is his grasp of the playbook. Are they going to have to condense it to 15-20 plays or does he know it?Classyposter58;1680619 wrote:I mean Manziel might not be a better passer but he at least has good speed and can make plays happen in that way.
