"But, but, but....it's JOHNNY! He's the outlier. He won't have those growing pains! He came out of the womb with the experience of a 10 year veteran! The Browns would be 8-1 if Johnny were the QB. SOMEBODY PLEASE LISTEN TO ME! I'm RIGHT, ya know! If you don't believe me, I'm going to tell you until I'm blue in the face until you know I've GOT to be right!!!! The top 12 teams (record wise) right now, not a single one is ran by a scrambling QB. The teams are...
Cardinals 8-1
Patriots 7-2
Broncos 7-2
Eagles 7-2
Cowboys 7-3
Packers 6-3
Chiefs 6-3
Colts 6-3
Browns 6-3
Seahawks 6-3
Only the Seahawks and Wilson could be considered a scrambler out of that whole group. So please, tell me again how a scrambling QB is going to take over the league?
RG3 is hurt 50% of the time, Newton has sucked since his rookie yet, we all know how well Vick typically works out (great for a few games then either hurt or terrible), Manual was benched, Kaep and the 49ers are not on that list...
I could keep going. The question is, do we want to win or throw a rookie runner out there and lose? Manziel probably will be better next year or the year after, but right now he is not even close to as good as Hoyer. -
Crimson streakWho knew people could bitch about a qb that is 9-3 as a starter smh

The list is very, very short for rookie QB's who started out 8-1.BR1986FB;1673369 wrote:"But, but, but....it's JOHNNY! He's the outlier. He won't have those growing pains! I can think of 1, Ben Roethlisberger. Even with him they did it with defense, defense, defense and running the ball. BR was a game manager that season.
How many other QB's have come into the league and started their careers 8-1? -

Your miss the point...as usual. For starters, how many on YOUR list have the abvility to move the sticks with their feet? The answer is all of them sans Brady, Manning and Palmer. Of those 3. only Palmer won't find the hall of fame. But it's more than that. Much more. Hoyer ranks in the bottom half in passing and the beneficiary of 8 dropped interceptions. That doesn't matter to you does it? He also is the beneficiary of Shananhan's ingenuity...having 5, 6, 7 seconds to find receivers.jmog;1673367 wrote:They played a very telling stat in the MNF game last night.

Only an imbecile could make the claim that Hoyer is > than Manziel. Give me the man with the stronger arm. the more accurate arm, much more scrambling ability. and better brains over a career backup.
When someone completes a putrid 55% of his passes in college, he shouldn't even have been given the opportunity in the NFL.

It's not a false statement. It is 100% accurate and true. Use your google button to prove otherwise. You can't. Moreover, the Akrn scrimmage Manziel dominated in numbers vs. Hoyer. And these were just the passing numbers...not the advantage with his feet. Tee it back up smog...I'll give you a mulligan.jmog;1673368 wrote:That is a false statement riddled in opinion. They both sucked in the preseason. Even if you only consider preseason and not training camp, do you want a rookie who played shitty in the preason and struggled to learn the playbook, or a veteran who played like shit?
You give the rookie time to learn the system and how to be an NFL QB.
Guess what? That decision has freaking worked. They are 6-3, currently in first place in the toughest division in football. -

What does the team record have to do with the quarterback rating? Ranked 17th out of 32==BR1986FB;1673399 wrote:6-3 > "mediocrity"

Shame on me for having the desire to win a Super Bowl and not limp into the playoffs with a mediocre quarterback.

I bitched about the tribe playing Wayne Kirby instead of Manny Ramirez back in 1994 too. Excuse me for voicing a differing opinion.Crimson streak;1673386 wrote:Who knew people could bitch about a qb that is 9-3 as a starter smh
Just a question for you here...How many Super Bowls will the Browns win with Brian Hoyer? You know the answer. -

Yes, Hoyer is Kojak's love child. So in your bizzarro world the head coach is never wrong. It's a bloody shame that Pete Carroll didn't play Matt Flynn too.Con_Alma;1673408 wrote:...17 ranked QB able to convince his HC he's a better choice as starter than the other QBs on the roster doesn't say very much for the other QBs. -

Yeah, the 19 year old Hesiman winner who completed 69% of his passes in college and led his team to victory over the eventual national champions on their home court has the same chance of winning a Super Bowl vs. the undrafted free agent who completed a putrid 55% of his passes in college. Gotcha. -

Hoyer has done well in every match I have watched him play.

I love Kojak as a head coach. tubby. His best move was hiring Shanahan. Other than playing Hoyer, I have no problems at all with him...a gem in the rough. He needs to hire a guy to explain to him clock management tho.BR1986FB;1673417 wrote:SMDH..."Kojak." Best head coach the Browns have had since 1999. -
