Raiders at Browns

  • HitsRus
I was pretty optimistic after the draft, but the truth is Sammy Watkins is making a big impact and helping the Bills win, and BOTH of the Browns first rounders are not .

There were a few dump offs that went for huge gains especially in the first half. The first series Gabriel romped 50 yards with a flare pass. Like Iggy said, Hoyer is the luckiest quarterback ever to play for Cleveland. We would be mourning the loss if Oakland runs in the gift pick 6 and doesn't drop the other softball Hoyer landed into a defender's hands.

That shit has been going on all season long. His luck will surely run out.

    Count me in with shook17...
Crowell got two touches today, one went for 8 yards, yet we were constantly treated to West losing yardage. WTF...the guy had a shit game against the Jags, and they gave him more of the game plan?????
A highly mobile quarterback with a stronger, more accurate arm will trump pressure from the defense. The sooner Kojak figures that out the better.

Gilbert had a good game and is improving. lol at anyone who is already writing him off (not surprised at who they are).

This is going to change once they face legit defenses who can actually catch an interception. Hoyer has had about 6 or 7 INT's dropped this year.

This hasn't been lost on me and it's why I've begrudingly finally admitted that it's time to get Manziel ready. Defenses know how to defend Hoyer now. Stack the box, since they can't run the ball anymore, and make Hoyer beat you through the air. Do I think Manziel is going to light up defenses with his arm? No, but he IS a threat to run, which opposing defenses will have to respect. That's not there with Hoyer. Hoyer relies on play action to be effective and if teams no longer respect the run, his effectiveness is screwed.

I'm not saying "start Manziel against Tampa Bay." Just have him ready because I think his time is going to come sooner than later.

Gilbert has been very good the last two weeks and has stepped up his game.

I beg to differ on the "stronger arm" comment. More mobile? By far, but JFF's arm is far from "strong."

Manziel could come in and absolutely suck. Then what? You've fucked everything up.

Stick with Hoyer until next year. We are over .500 almost halfway through the year and people want the backup. Unreal

I don't "want the backup" but I can see Manziel starting the Houston game after back-to-back losses to Tampa & Cincinnati.

Okay that's great. Why are we talking about this? We just won and are right there in the AFC north. We are talking about our backup being ready to take over soon. SMH

It is crazy. We would probably be 2-5 if manziel had been the qb all year. We enter November with a winning record and half a game out. I don't know how long it will last, but enjoy it while it does.

6-1 with Manziel at the helm. This just in...you play the better quarterback, then you will win more games. Not a difficult concept to grasp. Keep wearing the dunce cap.

Gilbert has improved his coverage play immensely over the past 2 games, with the exception being the garbage time touchdown pass in the waning seconds where he was nowhere near his man. But what is shocking is his inability to hit the guy after he caught the ball. How can you draft a guy number 9 overall if he's a pu$$y? All that film study before drafting him didn't reveal that?

I remember a few years back Curt Coleman lasted until the 7th round. I couldn't believe it. The guy hit people and wasn't bad as a cover guy either. He's been a great safety in the NFL.

To those that say let Hoyer play until the season ends and then play Manziel next year.....????? The Browns will probably end up 7-9 and with Hoyer's lucky interception drops streak continuing, maybe 8-8. And the same shmucks will be happy with that, citing improvement. Manziel will sit, and sit, and sit. A first round draft pick wilting away on the pine. My guess is that Manziel will be traded to placate the fans who, like Al Gundy, say bottoms up to the great Brian Football and his 7-9 record. Truly disgusting.

It's not that I'm saying let Hoyer play but rather that's what I believe will happen.

I agree in that I think Manziel won't spend his career in Cleveland.

I take it that in real life you're happy with mediocrity, amIrite? Only a blind fool can't see how lucky Hoyer has been this year. He works with the best OC in the league and has been the beneficiary of having all day to throw and receivers 20 yards open down field. Now just imagine a quarterback with a stronger arm, a more accurate arm, and a tremendous ability to move sticks with his feet given the opportunity that Shanahan presents.

The Hoyer nad nibblers are a sorry bunch indeed.

On another note....Cameron has a concussion and is being evaluated.

I think most of us realize that Manziel will be the QB sooner or later but have no problem with him holding a clipboard for awhile.

As for the draft that I commented on...allow me to clarify....I was speaking to the present day 'results'. While Gilbert and Manziel have had no impact, the longer term evaluation is still positive.

I am surprised at the negativity. The team is 4-3 and this IS the NFL. The loss of Mack has had a devastating effect on the offense, but that doesn't mean that all is lost. The loss to the Jags highlighted that the offense is going to need to be reworked to compensate, and yesterday's game was the first attempt by the coaching staff to adapt. I expect to see greater improvement against the Bucs....if I don't...THEN I'll worry.
LOL at bailing on Hoyer already.

Manziel dosn't have a stronger arm.

The "Hoyer nad nibblers" dont decide who plays QB...Pettine with input from from the the very OC you think would Manziel would help does....and they have chosen Hoyer for now.

That's funny because I was "debating" with a female poster on a Browns Backers site about the Browns OC. She, who claims to be a former football player and OSU "assistant FOOTBALL coach" (<almost pissed my self at that), says that Shanahan is a worse play caller than Pat Shurmur. Just smdh.

I do think that JFF has a stronger arm on the short/intermediate stuff but can't throw the long ball worth a shit. Neither of them can.

There is a lot of dumb shit being posted on here. Let's move on to the buccs game since apparently we can't enjoy a win. They have already matched their total wins from last season and they will have 9 tries to surpass that.

I'm definitely pleased with the win total and I can see a few more.
