NFL has said that religious expression is an exception and this shouldn't have been flagged.

But RG3 isn't allowed to wear a religious shirt at a press conference.

If it is made by Nike he could.
When they are in official capacity they have to wear certain things. No diff than when Kitna was wearing some religious hat.

I got back after midnight and had very little contact of what happened over the weekend.....what the fuck happened to the steelers? I know the buccs were embarrassed by the falcon and all but man..to lose that game is unacceptable and a season changer for the worst.

In short: Over the final few minutes of the game, they pulled off the world's best Cleveland Browns impersonation for finding hilariously bizarre ways to lose a game.

They led 24-20 (after not really doing anything in the second half after scoring on their first possession of it) and made a tough defensive stop to get the ball back deep in their territory with a bit under 2 minutes to play and TB having two TOs left.

On their drive, instead of running out the clock, they wound up going 3-and-out and having to punt it back. They would have gotten a first down on their second down play, if not for how they'd gotten a 5-yard penalty before that play, so the 8 yards on Ben's pass to Wheaton only made it 3rd and 5 instead of 1st and 10.

Punter has a shit punt (29 yards) to give the ball back to TB on the Pitt 46 with under a minute and no timeouts. So they immediately hit a 41-yard pass and scored shortly after.

For the cherry on top of the shit sundae, just watch their attempt to do a trick "do a bunch of laterals and hope something happens" play to end the game. Even by the usual standards of this play, theirs was sad.

I've never seen a ref throw a flag at a press conference. That's pure league office shit (aka: GODell looking to "protect the shield" by forcing players to only wear clothes from sponsors and fining people who don't comply with really important things like that).

A better comparison would be how Tebow was allowed to Tebow during his career.

Those sponsors pay big, big, big bucks to the NFL so of course they will make the players wear that stuff after the games. Not surprising nor do I disagree.

I was extremely pissed at the late offensive play-calling. If they don't get a first down, even with a good punt, Tampa would probably have about 60 yards to go in a minute and I don't think I trust the defense against a team in a two-minute drill in that situation. On 3rd and 5, they did a basic run with Bell that fooled no one. Two yard loss. There are times to be conservative late in the game on offense. They were backed up too far in their territory, IMO, for that to be one of those times. Just get one first down and end the game. Don't play like bitches and then watch the other team surge past you.

..and week before the announcers bitched when the browns passed in that similiar situation and didnt connect! Still very disappointing!

How fitting that Oakland names Tony Sparano as their interim head coach right after a loss to the LOLPhins.

BTW it's not just RG3 and Goodell. Kitbag was fined when he was with the Bengals for wearing a hat with a cross on it at his press conference.

They pay the leagues, not the players. The sponsor doesnt control the player, unless they have the player under contract.

Salary cap takes money from the streams of revenue, and the apparel contract is one of them.

According to NFL bylaws, players are prohibited from wearing clothing with personal messages on game-days.

If it was a Nike shirt, NFL would ok it because they have a deal with Nike...

But if someone wears a giant Addidas logo to the podium because they are sponsored by Addidas, the NFL isnt going to stop them and make them wear a Nike shirt. Its all about the personal message.

RG3 couldnt wear his "know Jesus, know Peace" shirt cause it was a personal message, not because it wasnt Nike. Because of that, he had to turn it inside out, not go get a shirt made by an NFL sponsor.

I'd love to see a player wear something with an Islamic saying (being serious), and see the NFL do the same thing. You know all hell would break loose.

You area correct on the personal message and that was the issue with RGIII, but I believe you are incorrect on your addidas analogy.

Yup. Like I have said before, every bandwagon fan has a story.

I just found it hilarious about the time they got to the Bengals babies and immediately thought of you two.

Is that the commercial where a mother supports her children rooting for a rapist, Ben roethlisberger?

Probably. I didn't go watch it either but I'm assuming its the Vikings mother who's kids go on to be like a Bengals, Cowboys, Steelers and some other team fans.

That commercial made me lol. "We're a bunch of great Viking fans...but then my kids grew up and as soon as they left home, they became fans of other teams!"

The best part was the timing, with the Minnesota/Peterson situation and all. Team management has to be fuming at how their fanbase was essentially portrayed as rats fleeing a sinking ship there!
