I don't live in ohio either but I actually made it to a game this year when I went back and visited my parents. If I still lived in ohio I probably would have went to a bunch of games

Ownership has put out a team that is in contention 2 years in a row, and less than 10K come out for a crucial September series where you are playing another contending team and rival.
The Dolan's don't bother me anymore. My angst has shifted to the shitty talent evaluators (Shapiro & Antonetti) who keep drafting crap players, which is essential to compete in smaller markets consistently. Dolan doesn't spend like a drunken sailor, by any means, but when teams like Oakland & Tampa are putting out good teams year after year, it says a lot about how poor upper management is in drafting these guys.

Been to 2 games this year, while living in Raleigh. Got lucky and had to travel to Cleveland for the HOF game and went to a game and then also got to go when I was in Michigan for nascar. Made the drive over in my day off.

If I lived in central ohio instead of southern I would definitely hit up a couple games....as a baseball fan.

I don't think I agree with that anymore. The team has been contending with the big spenders with a bunch of no-names and AAA players.

The problem is, as with all sports, the casual fan is drawn to stars and players they know. I think the biggest reason for the poor attendance is a combo or fans (casual) not knowing the players because they are all traded before they get to really know them and the fans who know everything about the team being pissed that all the stars we DO DEVELOP are traded before we reap the rewards...

Maybe I should've phrased it differently and said "this front office is horrible at drafting." They are actually not bad in picking up OTHER teams' talent when our good players are about to be free agents and we have to move them. They can't draft worth a crap though.

Bauer in trouble in the first. Walking VMart to load em up. Tribe killer JDMart coming up now.
  • TBone14
Bauer doesn't have it. Game may be over soon. This will be his last hitter if he doesn't get him.
  • TBone14
Awful start by Bauer. Signing off for a while. Scherzer will have to be way off his game for the Tribe to have a shot.

    Go Tribe.
  • HitsRus
Yeah spotting Scherzer 4 runs is not a smart idea.
  • Crimson streak
Cut it to 4-3. Almost 4-4 Walters smoked that ball just happened to be right at victor

    4-3 now.

Heh heh ... Ran into my acct rep ... Scored me seats in a dugout suite.... Just to the 1st base side of home plate red shirt.... I 'll wave ;)

    Nice!

Tribe battling like hell tonight. Dr. Smooth with a huge knock.
  • Footwedge
Huge game...can't stand it. A win pulls them to 2.5. a loss then 4.5.

Shit, Tito you didn't have any one else to pitch?
  • Laley23
If Tomlin is on this team next year Ill be furious. That guy is fucking horrible.
  • HitsRus
I don't understand what the hell he was thinking.SMH. :(:RpS_sneaky:

you consider this contending? its called staying afloat. its not much different than last year. beat the bad teams and lose against the big boys. that isn't good enough. contending would have been at least a split in this series against a team they needed to beat. instead they were beat silly in 2 games and blew another game. that is not what a contender does.
  • HitsRus
Beat silly twice? The final score tonight was not indicative of how the team played for 10 innings.

I agree with this. With what the Dolan's spend, they are just hoping to be competitive. It's the talent evaluators job to draft the studs that they can keep under their control for a significant period of time, which they aren't doing. I still blame Shapiro & Antonetti more than Dolan. How this front office has stayed here this long is quite baffling to me.

We have a winning record versus Detroit. We also weren't beat silly in 2 games. That's a ridiculous statement, or a statement of someone who didn't watch the games.

Despite the loss, incredible fight out of that team last night. Proud of those guys. Down 4 after a half inning, the offense scratched and clawed to tie it. Bauer settled in and saved the bullpen from having to go the whole game. Could have easily packed it in. Too bad Tomlin had to come in. The Tigers just destroy him.

If we can beat Sale and the White Sox tonight, we will sweep them. Could have easily taken 3 of 4 from Detroit. These guys are still playing well.
  • Laley23
Also, I think we have winning records (or .500) vs.

    LAD
    KC
    BALTIMORE
    NYY

The team who killed us that is in contention I think is just Seattle. We are even 2-4 vs Oakland and LAA.

The Cleveland Organization you just described is THE BROWNS . Shapiro/Antonetti have done a pretty good job allocating the money that our piss poor attendance brings in....this coming from a guy who regularly criticizes their off season hot stove moves. They hit and miss like most organizations, but unlike a lot of organizations, they have no room for error .
