World Cup 2014

sportchamppsSame argument I made OB1 just let them go on hating Mexico
-
YtowngirlinflaSo IF Qatar keeps the WC wonder who they take that spot from?
-
gorocks99Great, great goal from Cahill. Will be one of the best of the tournament.
-
Laley23I like it more than Van Persie's diving header. Goal of the tourney for me.
-
Laley23Ronaldo out? Please be yes...

This is running rampant on twitter right now. Sounds like it maybe true and would be GREAT for the US.Laley23;1627474 wrote:Ronaldo out? Please be yes...

Laley23
The fact he left today's training is the only reason I am even contemplating it might be true.Ytowngirlinfla;1627478 wrote:This is running rampant on twitter right now. Sounds like it maybe true and would be GREAT for the US.
If he is out, my excitement for Sunday just went through the roof. I am having nightmares of our backline trying to stop him lol. -
gorocks99If Australia beats Netherlands, I don't know what to believe anymore.
Also, if Ronaldo is out, our chances for a W go from about 20% to probably 50% on Sunday. My chances of getting blackout drunk in celebration remain at 100%. -
gorocks99According to Portuguese press, the doctor is denying it.

"Jose Carlos Noronha categorically denies the contents and statements that were quoted by Spanish media" -
sportchamppsHe has missed Alot of training but still played against Germany
-
AutomatikSo what's the deal with Spain? Tika-taka has been cracked? Or their roster just not getting it done?
-
KB0938Lol Spain

It was never the style, it was the players executing it who were unbeatable. Now, they are still better than this showing so far, but the evidence was there for a possible failure when you look at the club success (lack there of) of Barca this year. Even Real, who had success, would have to credit most of that to foreign players (Benzema, Ozil, Pepe and Ronaldo etc).Automatik;1627548 wrote:So what's the deal with Spain? Raw Dawgin' itlol Aussie goalie sucks. That third goal was weak!

I think the game has passed the Spanish style by. Soccer is being played in more aggressive styles than 4 years ago and strikers nowadays dominate the game. Just think the average goals per game were 2.27 in the 2010 WC while going into today it was at 3.14 for this years edition and 7 goals have been scored in the first two games today upping it a tadLaley23;1627553 wrote:It was never the style, it was the players executing it who were unbeatable. Except literally 2 years ago the euro cup finals consisted of two teams that try control the midfield. Derp.Classyposter58;1627580 wrote:I think the game has passed the Spanish style by. Spain just had a bad tourney. It happens won't be surprised to see them bounce back for the euro cup. -
slingshot4everFIFA not allowing players to wear Beats by Dre headphones due to Sony sponsorship for the remainder of the World Cup. Makes Sony look childish/jealous in my opinion.

FIFA as well, but their president is already a fucking child.slingshot4ever;1627586 wrote:FIFA not allowing players to wear Beats by Dre headphones due to Sony sponsorship for the remainder of the World Cup. Makes Sony look childish/jealous in my opinion. -

It doesn't make FIFA look childish, it makes them look like how any other business would treat a sponsor's competitor.like_that;1627589 wrote:FIFA as well, but their president is already a fucking child. -

Then why not stop players from wearing all other brands (Skull Candy, etc.), why just Beats by Dre? It is an attack against a single brand, not all competitors.lhslep134;1627591 wrote:It doesn't make FIFA look childish, it makes them look like how any other business would treat a sponsor's competitor. -

I'm going with what Laley said earlier, more like the player's aren't getting it done. All dominant runs eventually come to an end.Classyposter58;1627580 wrote:I think the game has passed the Spanish style by. I'm assuming because Beats was explicitly mentioned in their contract. Why would Sony pay for a sponsorship and not forbid their biggest rival from free publicity?slingshot4ever;1627594 wrote:Then why not stop players from wearing all other brands (Skull Candy, etc.), why just Beats by Dre? I'm not saying I agree, but the point of Classy's post was that you won't see 2014 and going forward for some of those categories. So posting what they did in the past isn't relevant to his point (2008-2012).
Also, it's relevant that those club teams were carried by foreigners (Messi, Ronaldo, Pepe, etc.)
Auto, I think you were on to something when asking if the tiki taka doesn't jive nowadays. -
AutomatikThe point is the players that were part of that run and their respective club teams have aged, skills declined, etc.

ah okay, then yeah I can see that. I guess we won't know until the next crop takes over?Automatik;1627600 wrote:The point is the players that were part of that run and their respective club teams have aged, skills declined, etc.
