Bubba is just a dick. I mean, so is Tiger, but Tiger wins a lot more lol. Bubba is probably the biggest dick outside of Ian Poulter and Tiger on tour.
To your point, a customer of mine played in a Pro-Am with him at Muirfield, and he told me Watson didn't talk to him (or anyone else in the group) the entire round--at a frickin' Pro-Am, for godsakes!!! -

Thats just wrong. I mean, if you want to just practice and not be bothered, do what the other big guns (Phil, Tiger, Dustin, etc) do and dont play the pro-am...vball10set;1603965 wrote:To your point, a customer of mine played in a Pro-Am with him at Muirfield, and he told me Watson didn't talk to him (or anyone else in the group) the entire round--at a frickin' Pro-Am, for godsakes!!!
The anecdote on my encounter was also during a pro-am. I was out on the fairway setting up the drive-grid for nbc/golf channel and had a bunch of orange cones. Kuchar asked me what they were for as he had seen them the last 5 tournaments and I told him. His response, "you guys never put me on the drive grid" and I told him to hit it farther. He laughed and was just in general really funny about the whole thing. Some of those guys (Bubba) will kick the orange cone out of the way for their shot during the pro-am...when it is 30 yards away...
Side note: Told the producer the story, we had Matt on the grid on Sunday at Houston lol. It helped that he was leading, but I still thought that was funny after the conversation I had just had with him. -

No he's got a massive ego. Dude pissed me off when he yelled at his caddy the way he did on TV. Plus at Akron the guy doesn't even bother to pay attention to the crowd at all. IMO Phil is the best guy on tourLaley23;1603860 wrote:I dont like Bubba. I feel like Im the only person lol -

There are a lot of really good guys. But, yeah, of the biggest names Phil and Kuchar are up there.Classyposter58;1603969 wrote:No he's got a massive ego. Golf is in a great spot right now, the young Americans and even Internationals all seem to embrace the gallery and have a lot of fun while at the same time being very competitive...even against their friends. Outside of Bubba, the rest of the "new wave" are all very friendly, which is great. Keegan, Dustin, Zach, Webb, Mahan, Fowler etc. -

Gotta throw Duf in there (I know you meant to include him, it's hard to name everyone). I agree though, it's great for the game.Laley23;1603971 wrote:There are a lot of really good guys. But, yeah, of the biggest names Phil and Kuchar are up there.

Even the guys like Spieth, English (even though he was a tad standoffish during the Nationwide event at Scarlet his SR year)** are understanding the importance of being a "good guy" in this day and age.
**watching him and John Peterson go head to head and seeing Peterson blow it with a bogey and English win it with a birdie on 18 (a hole I don't find particularly hard relative to the rest of Scarlet, at least when it comes to making par) was awesome. -
Laley23
Yeah, definitely. Jason Day, Adam Scott, Luke Donald (unless you consider him American lol), etc on the international side.lhslep134;1603976 wrote:Gotta throw Duf in there (I know you meant to include him, it's hard to name everyone). I agree though, it's great for the game.

Laley23Louis just made a mess of the 15th. Triple Bogey with a 5I into the green for his 2nd. He hit it 30 yards long, then his chip landed on 10 yds on the green and rolled into the water. He took his drop on the other side of the fairway and barely had his ball stay on the back of the green. Left the putt short, then missed the double bogey putt. Made a pretty decent putt for triple.

bases_loadedFrom your list. The assholes seem to be the guys that grind their asses to be as good as they are and the nice guys are guys who are naturally gifted to be as good as they are. A couple guys I play with are the same way. Both scratch guys one guy played near the top amateur level and even last year was a back nine away from qualifying for the Masters. He's high strung on the course even with us sometimes. The other is a goof off that goes on runs where you wonder why he's playing with us only to turn around and show ya why. He can shoot 31-42 and not even flinch.
Tiger. Huge ass. Works harder than anyone else to get there. Same with Vijay. John Daly, Duf, Mick. All guys that don't have to work as hard to be as good and the games fun for them. -
TBone14Most fans love Phil. Most people on Tour think he is a phony asshole. Probably some jealously in there but that is what I have heard.
-
wildcats20Fat Phil is now playing his 3rd shot from a greenside bunker on 12. Hit it in the front bunker off the tee, then into the back bunker, then back to the front bunker. Now as a semi-long attempt at a 5 from the back fringe.
Hit the first shot and complained about their being no sand in the bunker. -
Laley23
Phil does come off as pretty fake to me. But, the older he has gotten, I think it is more genuine.TBone14;1604034 wrote:Most fans love Phil. Most people on Tour think he is a phony asshole. Probably some jealously in there but that is what I have heard.
But to be sure, it definitely doesnt seem as real as some of the others I have mentioned. -
wildcats20And now he's in the trees left on 13. No chance he'll be playing this weekend.
I, for one, and happy at that. I can't stand Phil. -
Laley23
Its Phil at the Masters though. He will probably have some crazy ass Birdie binge...then 3 putt from 15 feet on 18 to miss the cut lolwildcats20;1604063 wrote:And now he's in the trees left on 13. No chance he'll be playing this weekend.

Laley23If Bubba even plays even the rest of the way (assuming he knocks this in), he is going to make that cut line very shaky for a lot of good players. +3...

10 shot rule, isn't it?Laley23;1604066 wrote:If Bubba even plays even the rest of the way (assuming he knocks this in), he is going to make that cut line very shaky for a lot of good players. +3... -
Laley23That also changes obviously, if the top 50 are below that. But still.
-
wildcats20There it is, top 50 and ties and 10 shot.
-
Laley23
Right, but he is about to be -7.wildcats20;1604067 wrote:10 shot rule, isn't it? -
wildcats20Yeah, that was just a general question lol. Wasn't comparing it to Bubba's score, which is now -7.
-
Laley23
lol, gotcha.wildcats20;1604071 wrote:Yeah, that was just a general question lol. Wasn't comparing it to Bubba's score, which is now -7.
Yeah, the 10 shot rule was a great addition to the cut line, especially at majors. 10 shots is nothing, especially if its only 1 guy way ahead like Bubba might be. -7 as the leader, but a bunch of +4 and +5s are left out is stupid if 2nd is -2... -
wildcats20Damn Bubba almost holed it at 16.
-
Laley23Man, I really dont want Bubba to run away with this, and it has nothing to do with me not liking him. Just want to see a close Saturday and Sunday.
I dont think he will, but winning one already takes a lot of the Augusta pressure off him. -
wildcats20Hard to believe it's been 9 years since Tiger's chip in. Crazy.
-
Laley23Luke Donald with a really solid round. Might not be enough though, since he had the 8 or #9 yesterday,
-
Laley23As of now, and I doubt it changes, we have some big names missing the cut.
-Phil
-Luke Donald
-Keegan Bradley
-Dustin Johnson
-Zach Johnson
-Sergio
-Jason Dufner
-Justin Rose (on cut line)
-Grahame McDowell (on cut line)
-Jason Day (on cut line)
