"ALL-NFL" Mock Draft?
-
rydawg5If you could pick the first pick of a draft that included any NFL player at 21-22 years old, who would be your first pick?
This is a good way to determine who is the best "player" in history, because the first pick would be, in your opinion, the most important impactful person to possibly pick.
Would you go with a great Quarterback? Runningback?
I think I am torn between Lawrence Taylor or Ray Lewis or maybe Peyton Manning.
I would probably go with Lawrence Taylor though. -
thedynasty1998Peyton Manning. A QB is much more valuable than a LB, even though LT dominated like few have ever done.
I just don't think there's ever been a better player than Manning. I know it's up for debate, but no one will convince me any different. -
rydawg5I love the "Who would your draft pick be" because it really has nothing to do with Titles or achievements. People will say "Trent Dilfer MUST be better than Warren Moon because of a Super Bowl Ring"
Smoking crack.
And I agree.. Peyton Manning is the best quarterback to ever play this game. -

Joe Montana might have something to say about that...rydawg5 wrote: I love the "Who would your draft pick be" because it really has nothing to do with Titles or achievements. People will say "Trent Dilfer MUST be better than Warren Moon because of a Super Bowl Ring"

jpake1I have to go with Peyton Manning as well.
-
rydawg5I think I would take Steve Young over Montana to be honest.
-
hasbeenI would take Barry Sanders. Then give him the best OL I can. Then give him the ball. Watch and enjoy.
-
darbypitcher22I'd probably start a team with Ray Lewis. Just love the way he plays and the intensity he brings to the field

My team already beats your team.darbypitcher22 wrote: I'd probably start a team with Ray Lewis. Just love the way he plays and the intensity he brings to the field -
HeathAlum21I can't take Peyton Manning because of his lack of post season success. I would take a QB though.
-
BigAppleBuckeyeLT is a great choice, I too would take him. Defenses win championships, so I would also consider Dick Butkus or maybe even Reggie White.
If I had to go offense, Peyton Manning certainly is a great choice, but I would probably lean toward a RB, perhaps Barry Sanders or Walter Payton. -
darbypitcher22why does your team beat my team?
-
rydawg5The problem with taking a "great" runningback is that everytime would have a darn good runningback in this draft. I think there is a huge drop off between LT and then the next best pass rusher..
I do think OJ Simpson would be up high on my draft board for runningbacks too. -

Because you took Ray Lewis and I have Peyton. Obviously I had the better draft.darbypitcher22 wrote: why does your team beat my team?
I know the defense wins championships talk, but how can you not take a QB? QB's are the most important players in the game and can make an average team good or a good team bad with poor play.
Take Manning off the Colts and they are an average NFL team. Put him on the Jags and they are by far the best team in the NFL.
The QB, namely Manning, controls every single play that is called on offense and is more valuable than any coach in the NFL. -

Your points are valid ... however, put LT or White on the Dolphins with Marino, and he may have won that elusive Super Bowl.thedynasty1998 wrote:

To offer a pro-RB argument, Elway needed Terrell Davis to win his first ring.
Also, how many teams have won because of their defense while featuring an "ok" QB .... the 1990-91 Giants (Hostetler), 2000-01 Ravens (Dilfer), 1987-88 Redskins (Williams), etc all come to mind. Conversely, stud QBs like Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, etc are still waiting to win the big one. -
Laley23
I dont get that argument at all. If Manning wins a SB this year he is the same freaking QB as if he loses. However, if he wins people will vault him to the best ever and if he loses people will say "eh, top 5 but not the best"HeathAlum21 wrote: I can't take Peyton Manning because of his lack of post season success. It just makes no sense. It isnt even like he is Marino, the guy HAS A SUPER BOWL. I guess its a compliment, he is soooo good, people expect(ed) him to have 3 already with a few more to come.
For the record. Id take Manning first overall. -
SonofanumpFind 32 posters, get a draft order and see where this goes.
-
thedynasty1998Laley, I couldn't agree more.
It's like that in every sport. A guy like Lebron (where I'll admit that to be the greatest you should be able to carry an NBA team to a championship because you are 1/5 of the team), he's the same player today as he will be in a few months if he does indeed win a championship.
As for the RB, I think that's the second most important piece. Of all the great defenses, it wasn't because they ONE great player, it's a bunch of players together that make the great defense. As for the Colts, I think most would consider them a very good offense, and that is almost solely due to Manning. -
Cleveland BuckJim Brown

mallymal614Jim Brown!!!!!!!!!!!

Laley23Jim Brown would be my pick if I didnt have a top 5 pick (aka, the top 5 QBs)
