Before I knew anything about soccer,I started rooting for Chelsea during a match just to spite my roommate who was a die hard Arsenal fan. I ended up getting into soccer and stuck with them.

Realistically there is only a chance for 5, maybe 6 teams to win the league every season. Man U, Man C, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea are the regulars. Other clubs may have a year or two where they finish top 4, but it seems pretty uncommon. IMO, if you are rooting for almost anyone else, don;t be shocked if they end up relegated and out of the league for a year or two. Not going to tell you who to root for, but thought that should be pointed out.

Stoke City used to play in Cleveland.

I started rooting for Aston Villa because of the Lerners.

Stuck with them, despite being fucking awful

Spurs. Cause if Yedlin develops, he will be the best American in the EPL and will have a decades worth of time there.

Just watch some and see who you become drawn to. I had no idea about any soccer outside of MLS when my family got Dish Network in 1998 or 1999. One of the first-ever games I watched was Manchester United and Fabian Barthez. I was a goalkeeper, so was he. I shaved my head, so did he. He was crazy, I guess I had to be. So...naturally I became a United fan. I had no idea about any other team or whatnot.

No real reason to support any team in particular either. I watch MLS anytime I can. I am a Crew fan through and through...but I'll watch soccer whenever it's on. I just want to be engulfed in the game.

On a side note, Anthony Precourt just announced recently a club announcement will be coming soon.

What a goal by Rooney! Love waking up to live games.

Adopted a team to root for last night. Didn't want a top 4 team and didn't want a bottom 4. Decided to go with Everton because of Howard.

Who does everyone else root for, or do you just watch the games?
  • Midstate01
I technically root for united. But I really just enjoy watching the games. Oh and I hate Chelsea.

I'm a Barca fan in Europe, but have certain teams in each league. Spurs are my go to in the EPL, but will also root for Everton with Timmy, Aston Villa with Guzan and whoever else is currently employing an American on their roster.

I root for Chelsea. Met them when they came to play the MLS All-Stars and Arjen Robben was really fucking friendly so he became my favorite player. Wish he would come back.

You could join me and support Portsmouth. The last 5 years have been fun.

CFC all the way. Torres is about to run it this season. Just watch.

Liverpool. I'm not going to front, I didn't really pick up soccer until I started broadcasting the OSU Men's and Women's soccer games in 07-08 (aka the Year of Espinoza). I picked up FIFA '08 and enjoyed playing with Liverpool so I started following and rooting for them.

    Most definitely.

I wanna complain about the win this morning but 3 points is 3 points so I don't have much to complain about although 5:30 was a hell of a wake up time after a night of drinking ha

How about two separate 2 week avatar bets, one for each matchup?

    Anyone but United.

I went with Arsenal because their style in early 2000s sparked my interest in the game. I'm also a huge Henry fan and lived in North London for a time. I also have a soft spot for Fulham because McBride is my favorite US player ever and I went to a few matches when he played there.

Plus, Craven Cottage is badass. Probably my favorite EPL "stadium".

Yeah that place rocks! Had a blast pregaming at Fulham supporters only bar beforehand.
