All that needs to be said. This POS still not manning up and taking accountability here. I know he apologized to the fans, team, etc but this was ALL on Josh Gordon, NOT the NFL.
ALL? on josh Gordon? The NFL's drug testing policy is a joke. Their entire suspension policy is a joke. I don't think you realize, josh gordon's piss was clean, according to every other drug test in the world. Yet, the NFL says he committed a violation.

Also lol'd at you telling Gordon to take responsibility in the same paragraph where you mentioned where he already took responsibility and apologized to the fanbase.

"LOL" all you want but this was ALL on Gordon. Don't smoke the fucking weed and you'll be fine. Get it? Not too difficult. The league has rules in place. He broke them. It's on HIM. Quit defending this selfish asshole.

I don't really care about him getting the full year. He broke the rules. What pisses me off is that Ray Rice should've gotten a year too, at least.

His 70 passed drug tests tells me he did stop smoking weed. He was 1/5 of the normal passing limit. The NFL sort of arbitrarily decides that limit isn't good enough for them. They're suspending someone for 12 months of work because they decided that's what they want to test for. It's a joke and Gordon should be pissed.

If the players didn't like the the limit they shouldn't have agreed to the last CBA. They knew exactly what they were signing on for.

None of this was a surprise to anyone, including Gordon.

So what if he passed 70 straight tests, he failed the 71st. If I get in the car sober 70 times in a row the officer pulling me over could give a fuck if I'm drunk on the 71st time.

Everyone say goodbye to their families. The world is coming to an end. We agree 100%.

The players agreed to this CBA which means even if Gordon continues to appeal, he's likely not going to win and, worse yet, might actually hurt himself. The arbitrator actually threw Gordon a "bone" by allowing him to be eligible for reinstatement after the league year, which is in February, versus the calendar year, which would've been 365 days meaning he'd miss OTA's, training camp, preaseason, etc. This "bone" allows Gordon to actually be ready for the 2015 season if he's a good boy.

If Gordon keeps pushing the issue, they could take the early reinstatement off the table and he'd be looking at the calendar year versus the league year.

    Did he really fail
it though? If you pass 70 in a year, then barely fail the 71st (pass anywhere else) doesn't that mean you never smoked between tests? If you did, wouldn't you have failed legitimately? His levels suggest 2nd hand smoke, which I laughed at initially, but the more reports that come out, the more I start to believe he is getting fucked over.

Ok, I'll play along. Even with that said (second hand smoke), why be around it and risk your future? I heard yesterday he has cost himself $964,000 from these two suspensions and probably could've signed long-term for another $50-60 million. Even if it was second hand smoke (highly doubtful), he screwed himself again by putting himself in that situation.

Let me make it clear that I have no issue with legalizing weed or people smoking it, for that matter, but there are rules in place which he broke. Until they change these rules, he'll take the fall.

You clearly have an issue with smoking marijuana if you are saying Gordon is stupid for being around people who smoke marijuana. I mean come on.
  • Con_Alma
It's not about marijuana but rather when you know you have 2 strikes against you, you should be extreme in trying to avoid the 3rd strike when considering the money lost if even an innocent accident occurs.

Dumb response. If you had a chance to make $50-60 million and knew you could test positive for "second hand smoke" would you be hanging around people who smoked weed and perhaps jeopardize your future livelihood? It has nothing to do with having an issue with people who smoke marijuana. It has everything to do with his stupidity and poor choices.

At some point, these athletes have to break ties with their hometown "boys" to keep themselves out of trouble. If a friend is bad news, you unfortunately sometimes need to cut ties for the greater good.

So the punishment for "hanging out with your hometown boys" is a full season and nearly a million dollars in salary. Gotcha. Sounds fair.
  • Automatik
No that's the punishment for testing positive 3 times, and don't forget about the DUI.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's bullshit too, but this isn't about weed at all.

No, the punishment for being caught two prior times and then not being smart enough to be cautious after that is a full season and nearly a million dollars.

    He's an idiot.

Doesn't have to be "fair." If you know your buddies like to fire it up, stay away from them. Pretty simple really. If he's that dumb where he has an angel on one shoulder saying "don't hang out with your buddies, they smoke weed and you could get suspended for second hand smoke" and a devil on the other shoulder that says "but they're your buddies! You gotta risk that suspension, possibly losing millions of dollars, just to hang out with them" and he chooses the latter, he's just an idiot. If they are his friends, they respect his wishes and hold off on the weed or they really aren't his friends.

This has never been in question. I'm actually pro-weed. Legalize it and tax the fuck out of it's users. This is all about Gordon's arrogance & stupidity.

I'm not expecting to discuss anything with anybody.

I am expecting and will choose to simply offer my opinions on a post. "Lol"

    Thank you.

Yep. The rules are beyond awful but he knew them and still screwed up.
  • Con_Alma
In addition, these "beyond awful" rules were agreed to by the players association quite some time ago.

I really, really like beer. But if you paid me $964,000 a year, I would stay away from it, I would not enter a bar, hell, I'd avoid the aisle in the grocery store.

I have heard that the players association is negotiating with the league on HGH testing. If concessions are made by the players, there is a chance that Gordon could file for an earlier reinstatement this year as the weed testing rules would become less strict.

That's great. I've also heard that the league agreed quite some time ago to reevaluate the substance abuse policy but absolutely nothing has been done... so I guess I'll believe it when I see it.
  • BR1986FB
Mort tweeted that Gordon is exploring the option of playing out the year in the Canadian Football Legue? Is this even possible?
