FootwedgeI called the fan and told Dustin Fox and his fill in sidekick that they were way off base in chastising Manziel for partying in Vegas. Interestingly enough, just before I called, Jim Rhome hammered the media for trolling Manziel on the CBS sports minute. Rhome said among other things...."are the Browns playing Pittsburgh this week?"
The media needs to understand that Manziel is not...and never will be a choir boy. Deal with it. Last I heard people who are 21 are allowed in casinos and allowed to drink. -
iclfan2Yea fox was being absurd today. Did you get on? I usually listen to 92.3 all day at work. I can't remember, was his fill-in Lima? Because Lima is a douche.

Dr. KnOiTaLLOn another note, it's been confirmed that Josh Gordon was in stage 3 at the time of his failed drug test. Gordon camp seems to be preparing an appeal (obviously).
Bummer. Even though the league is taking steps to minimize penalties for marijuana, that is not expected to limit Gordon's punishment at all, which carries a minimum of a year suspension. Gordon can apply for reinstatement after the year-long ban. -

I will wait for an official ruling, before I believe anything MKC ever reports. -

I saw it on PFT, but yeah, if it came from MKC, I understand your hesitation.like_that;1620241 wrote:Confirmed by a tweet from MKC....

Unless he failed another drug test prior to his codeine failure, I don't see how he could have jumped to stage 3.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1620243 wrote:I saw it on PFT, but yeah, if it came from MKC, I understand your hesitation. -

It did, MKC was on PFT last night. PFT loves to run with BS and wild speculation as well, and confirm/take down stories later. So I'll wait for confirmation. The fact that they even talk to/use MKC as a source says everything you need to know about PFT.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1620243 wrote:I saw it on PFT, but yeah, if it came from MKC, I understand your hesitation. -
Dr. KnOiTaLLYou guys who wanted this dude crack me up..."
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports contract-year QB Alex Smith is asking the Chiefs for "top-tier" quarterback money in an extension.
Hence the reason talks are "going nowhere," according to multiple reports. The Bears recently gave Jay Cutler an annual average of $18.1 million, and Smith is both younger and coming off of a better 2013 season than Cutler, all things considered. The National Football Post's Jason Cole tweeted Wednesday that Smith "wanted a deal above Jay Cutler" in January, and Cole "can't imagine that has changed." The Chiefs would be smart to let Smith play one more season under Andy Reid before breaking the bank to keep him. If Smith takes another big step forward, the franchise tag could come into play.
Only 26 percent of Alex Smith's 2013 pass attempts traveled beyond the first-down marker, the lowest percentage in football last season.
Smith set career highs in TD passes (23) and yards (3,313), and made his first Pro Bowl in his first season with Andy Reid, but for the most part remained Captain Checkdown. The Chiefs were the only team in football whose running back (Jamaal Charles) led them in targets, catches, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. Smith did flash more aggressiveness in the intermediate to deep sections over the course of last season, but it's hard to imagine him taking a truly big step forward at age 30. He's a mid-range QB2 in fantasy leagues.

I knew when the Bears signed Cutler to that deal that it could lead to stuff like this. Cutler is good, but not near that contract good. Smith is good, but again not near that $$ good.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1620309 wrote:You guys who wanted this dude crack me up..."

He, or should I say, his agent is going to try and get as much as he can as this will be his last NFL contract. If I were the Chiefs I dont come close to that figure. He will accept a much less deal when push comes to shove. -
Crimson streakHeard gilbert went down with a knee injury in practice. Any updates?

think he just tweaked itcornerback Justin Gilbert left the practice field on Wednesday following an injury to his right knee. By all accounts, Gilbert limped off of the field in Berea and received medical attention. With ice placed on his heavily wrapped knee (typically not the treatment for anything involving a torn ligament), Gilbert was later seen pacing the sidelines while the rest of his teammates went through OTAs. -

I'd like an explanation as to how he was in stage 3 then. It would have to be that he failed a drug test that nobody seemed to know about, and I don't see that happening because another suspension would have already been being talked about.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1620237 wrote:On another note, it's been confirmed that Josh Gordon was in stage 3 at the time of his failed drug test. Hell, the one everyone heard about was just made known by whomever come the draft time. I imagine it is possible he popped hot twice since the season and it just wasnt made public by anyone....
No matter how it all went down, and even though they did a great job at the top end of the draft they def fumbled when it came to getting receivers to fill his void. They needed to add a good, young receiver in the draft.
Miles Austin isnt going to come close to the production and they need to think about the future because obviously you cannot count on Gordon.
If he cannot stay clean while playing how in the hell do they think he can stay clean when he is going to be gone for the season -
Terry_TateI know you guys mentioned it on here already, but just walked by a TV that had ESPN on and they were reporting live from the Browns camp and talking about Manziel being in Vegas with comments from him and Pettine. Such a fucking joke of a "story" and a good reminder to never watch ESPN aside from when they're showing a game.

Yeah got through...they rattled off 4 of us in rapid fashion. I was the only caller that disagreed with the hosts. Today the Browns said that Manziel's trip was not only approved but actually endorsed. Then today Johnny pretty much told the media to fuck off...that he's going to enjoy life the way he sees fit during downtime. Thought Manziel's comments were perfect today. If they wanted to draft Mother Theresa, then they should have drafted her. Manziel's renegade mentality is part of the reason that he's become so successful in football. -

Dustin Fox is awesome and someone I have a ton of respect for. No surprise that you're too stupid to understand a good talk show person and a poor one. I suppose you think Greg Brinda is the second coming. Idiots tend to think alike. Brinda said as recently as 3 days ago that Browns fans that think for a minute Manziel will be a successful quarterback here are nuts. What an effin dolt. You...Brinda..and BR1986...separated at birth.Commander of Awesome;1620218 wrote:I'm already laughing at him for listening to Dustin Fox. He's a fucking moron. Pick6Dustin Fox is a douche bag. Actually unfollowed him yesterday due to how annoying he was about Manziel. Horrible troll. He had a lot of potential at first, but fell into the typical Cleveland media "shock effect to drive ratings" dark hole.
-
HitsRusThe bottom line is these talking heads have hours to fill and ratings to worry about....they don't get points by being milquetoast about a story they can exploit. The only thing we (and the Browns should worry about is whether he can stay clean enough not to break NFL rules, and if he can put points on the scoreboard.
-
Pick6He's also an unprofessional frat boy wannabe along with Lima. Bull seems somewhat respectable from whenever I am bored and decide to turn 92.3 on, I mean he at least isn't an obnoxious idiot. He does sound like he talks out of his nose or something though.
-
iclfan2Lima is terrible. I actually don't mid Dustin 90% of the time. He's usually a huge homer. Bull gets on my nerves but he's a good radio host too. Their show is better than any other sports talk on Cle tho. By far. I tried listening to rizz on the really big show the other day (bc baskin and phelps on 92.3 are horrendous) and it was terrible.
