Troy Smith.......Demands Trade Now?

  • september63
baltimore ravens QB. I always thought he had a good head on his shoulders, and he may. According to Yahoo Sports his agent has informed the ravens that he will demand a trade in the offseason. 6 days before their game of the seaon, why make this demand public now?

You said he informed the Ravens. How is that making it public?

I haven't heard anything about this, so I guess he could have made it public, but if everything you said is what happened, I don't see the problem

Can we get him in a Browns uni? I honestly think he's a good qb in a bad situation...Flacco is pretty good and they've got a lot invested in him. Had he not been sick at the beginning of last year he may have made Joe sit on the bench...who knows...

Smith's agent "tweeted"(I hate that word) that the Ravens have been informed that Smith wants to be somewhere where he can get more playing time.

I think Smith could be very good in the WCO that the Browns will be running next year. However, I don't see the Ravens giving up a good, cheap backup QB. I would love for Smith to get a shot in Cleveland though!

He is a RFA this season.

Love to see him in a Browns uniform, but I doubt it happens. He's better than Quinn at the very least, especially with that 34-20 thrashing in the Fiesta bowl.

Although I don't think he'll ever be a really good NFL QB, he can be serviceable for a team like the Browns who might draft a young QB and need someone to bridge the gap for a couple years.

But I don't see it happening. You have Quinn whom I'm assuming the Browns keep around next season to fill that gap.

I will say that there is some bad QB play for several teams, and I'd think there is a team willing to bring in Smith for a shot at a starting position. He's just not better than Flacco and therefore will never be the man in Baltimore.

    Troy Smith interested in Browns

When players make out the list of places they'd like to play, Cleveland usually isn't near or at the top. However, it would be for Ravens quarterback Troy Smith. The former Heisman Trophy winner at Ohio State is seeking more playing time that he doesn't expect will be coming his way in Baltimore, according to a source close to the situation. Smith is a team player, and never would disrupt the Ravens during the season. But after the season, this is an issue that is expected to garner more headlines. If Cleveland were interested, Smith would love to return to the area in which he was born and excelled as a high school and college football star. Smith's contract is up after this season, but he will only be a restricted free agent. If Cleveland could figure out a way to sign him to an offer sheet and bring him home, Smith would get to return to the area in which he would most like to play.

I would hate to see him go but I didn't figure he would stay long after Flacco became the top gun.
  • Cleveland Buck
    I'd take him in Cleveland.

what about a team like buffalo or carolina. there are other teams in the nfl that need some help at QB.

what's he worth? baltimore used a 5th rounder on him 3 years ago. If a team can get him for a 5th or a late 4th i'd pull the trigger.

Matt Moore looks like the real deal in Carolina.
I would like to see Troy get a shot, he isn't going to in Balt barring injury and I don't see how it is good for a qb to sit on the bench for 2 years.

Some would say being a backup QB is the best job in the world. Obviously Troy Smith doesn't feel that way.

I've said for a few years now that Troy Smith is perfectly capable of being an effective starting QB in the NFL. Had he not gotten sick, he would've been the starter in Baltimore last year and who knows what would happen. With that said I would LOVE for Troy Smith to be on the Browns and compete for the starting job. If Quinn, Anderson, and Ratliff are his competition, then there really is no competition at all for him.

Let's just get this out of the way though, yes he's short for a QB, no he did not helplessly fire it into the backs of his huge linemen at Ohio State.....also he's the same height as Drew Brees. That is all

Picture Troy running the West Coast offense. He'd be perfect in that situation.

I hope he doesn't go somewhere else and flop because I like having him as a back up.

I'm not big on correcting grammar, but if you're going to call someone stupid, that would be a good time for proper grammar!!

What poor decision making and lack of great accuracy?

Smith would not help the Cleveland QB situation out at all.

Smith is not a WCO QB. He's more of a down field attack. Think San Diego's system.

That's nice, jump all over someone for one mispelled word. Too much time on YOUR hands people!

BTW, I fixed it for you, happy now?

I'm usually not a grammar nazi, but that one I couldn't pass up, even though I agree with you lol.

I guess that makes Tim Tebow and Chris Leak a WHOLE lot better than Smith.

Should we trade Brady for JaMarcus Russell?
