Week 6 Lions @ Browns: At least we're not Detroit....we're not Detroit

Commander of AwesomeLooks like CJ will play, hope Haden brings his A game this week. Only way we have a shot.

Never said he was the greatest of all time. He has been the best linemen in the league since 2007 though.BR1986FB;1515555 wrote:Who said he was "slightly above average?" He's the best LT in the league and a future HOFer. His run blocking skills just aren't dominant. God forbid anyone say anything criticizing JT's game. You'd think he was the greatest of all time, which he's NOT. -
wes_mantoothWait....can I give my two cents on Joe Thomas....Lol

I don't agree with this. I believe that it is much more important to be a great pass blocker....so being an average run blocker doesn't carry as much weight.like_that;1515554 wrote:Sorry, but it you are an average run blocker but great pass blocker that makes you a slight above average player. JT is much better than slightly above average.
I agree with br that he is a finesse guy and needs a mauler at guard to help him out. Kinda how Hutchinson was with Walter back when Seattle ran all over everyone. -

Same. Maybe he can get his release down from 3.1 to at least 2.8 lol.BR1986FB;1515765 wrote:Hoping this happens but I'll believe it when I see it. -
mucalum49Like the accountability of the new regime and even Weeden. They have identified the problem and aren't afraid to talk about it. The next step is results on the field (releasing the ball faster) but as a fan I appreciate their openness of discussing flaws. Seems like in the past all we got was "process" and "it's a grind" speak.

Yeah, I'm liking this new coaching staff a lot. Chud seems so much different from what we've dealt with in the past. No way previous O-Coordinators "adjust" to Weeden like they did against Buffalo when Hoyer went out. Shurmur would've tried to jam the square peg into the round hole. Also noticed that when the Browns take a lead (for the most part) into the locker room, they don't get "out-adjusted" by the opposing coaching staff like we've seen in the past.mucalum49;1515809 wrote:Like the accountability of the new regime and even Weeden. I like the fact that Chud recongnizes he is a rookie coach, so he put a good staff around him and he trusts those guys. He isn't a stubborn do it all bitch like Shurmur.BR1986FB;1515815 wrote:Yeah, I'm liking this new coaching staff a lot. Chud seems so much different from what we've dealt with in the past. Speaking of Suh, I found this to be pretty funny...
Ndamukong Suh
DT
Detroit Lions
NEXT: 10/13 at CLE
LAST POLL: NR
TACK: 14
AST: 2
SACK: 2.0
FF: 1
FR: 0
PD: 1
ANALYSIS
Matt Stafford has been here, and so has Reggie Bush, but Calvin Johnson's absence from the Lions' offense Sunday made it clear that the real MVP of the Lions' offense is Calvin Johnson. The Lions are a good enough team to warrant a reach for an MVP candidate, and Suh is not even really a reach. He's one of the most fearsome individual defensive forces in the NFL today and a heck of a nice guy who gets a bad rep because of all the people who keep leaving their necks right there on the ground while he's stomping his foot way too aggressively after the play.

We might catch a break. He practiced today and, after practice, the knee swelled up. He'll still be a gametime decision.Commander of Awesome;1515557 wrote:Looks like CJ will play, hope Haden brings his A game this week. Only way we have a shot. -

Schefter just reported that he won't participate in practice for the rest of the week, and it will probably be a game time decision.BR1986FB;1515943 wrote:We might catch a break. He practiced today and, after practice, the knee swelled up. He'll still be a gametime decision.
Keep in mind he is also the same dipshit who reported Gordon trade rumors. -
Commander of AwesomeJust reported that CJ practiced today. lolfail on shefter.

BR1986FB
According to 92.3, he did practice today but the swelling increased in the injured knee. Schefter may have been correct in saying that he won't participate for the "rest of the week." That doesn't mean he didn't participate today (which Schefter didn't say). I will agree that Schefter's a dumbass.Commander of Awesome;1516007 wrote:Just reported that CJ practiced today. lolfail on shefter. -

BR1986FBNo problem. I bet that CJ goes on Sunday though.
But Haden's up for the challenge.....

iclfan2Megaton was in some individual drills, but he wasn't a full participant, and his knee still swelled up. Hopefully this is good news for the Browns. Even if he plays, without being 100% you gotta thing Haden can handle him.

jmogLate in on the JT ruckus...
He's the best pass blocker in the game, that isn't debatable.
He's above average run blocker, but not great by any means.
Now, since his position is more about pass blocking, I'd say THAT is why he is considered the best LT in the game.
He is NOT an amazing run blocker, anyone who says he is has not watched close enough. -
lhslep134Got a really "debbie downer" attitude yesterday while going back and comparing the tape from Cleveland/Buffalo and Detroit/Green Bay in this aspect:
Detroit's front four is really quite fantastic at putting on pressure and if Aaron Rodgers wasn't Aaron Rodgers Detroit would have had a lot more sacks and QB hits.
And jesus Weeden's pocket problems extend beyond just holding the ball too long. He plays like he is befuddled by what the defense is doing as soon as the ball is snapped.
But then my eternal (blind?) optimism kicked in and I'm praying Weeden doesn't get destroyed and we can find a way to squeak out a 17-14 win.
