Rangers vs the Tribe series thread

  • royal_k
Texas comes to town for a weekend series, and they have the same record as the Tribe since the break. So both teams have under performed. Who will right the ship.

    Scheduled starters

    Martin Perez 3-3 3.40 vs Corey Kluber 7-5 3.69
    Yu Darvish 9-4 2.86 vs J Masterson 11-7 3.60
    Alexi Ogando 4-2 3.13 vs U Jiminez 7-5 4.49

Pretty good matchups. Hopefully we take game 1 cause they definitely have the game 3 advantage, with game 2 being a potential pitchers dual.

    Go Tribe

    0-3 sweep. I blame Reynolds

    We suck.

    Go browns!

I expect another sweep. Pitching sucks and our bats have gone silent.

    Urban Meyer's fault.

I'll predict 1-2....36 more days, baby!!!

I just hope the White Sox roll over and play dead when we play them like they are with Detroit. They have totally quit playing. The Twins, to their credit, are still playing hard and battling everybody. They just took 2 of 3 from the Angels.

Tigers lose so we survive losing 4 of 6 to the Twins and M's only 3 back heading to the weekend. Tigers get the slumping Phillies at home this weekend.

White Sox have a much better record against Detroit than we do.

Of the remaining 7 games with Detroit, we pretty much have to win 4 of them to have a chance this seaqson. 2 and 5 eliminates us.

^^^agree with this. You can't spot thenm 8 games by going 13 and 5 against them in the season series.

Fransico Lindor is making a quick transition to AA ball, ripping 3 hits yesterday for Akron.

    Go Tribe.

Pipe dream, but I would love to unload ACab in a package for Taveras if Lindor is anything resembling MLB ready (which I don't think he is quite yet).

He's MLB ready just not physically if that makes sense. He still needs time to develop his power but he can definitely hit in the majors. And his defense has been MLB ready since last year.

He's at .319/.396/.432 on the year between High A and AA. To me that means you can't say that he can "definitely" hit in the majors this year. Could he? Sure. But definitely? I wouldn't go that far.

Semantics aside, if he is that close as you say he is, then we need to get value out of ACab while we still can.
  • Crimson streak
The biggest indicator that I look for is walk to strike out ratio. His is through the roof. No doubt in my mind he can hit in the majors.

We could have always traded Chisenhall, moved Cabrera to 3rd and put Lindor at short.

    Wouldn't hate it

I'm not a fan of moving people out of position unless they can no longer handle the position they play (case of an aging player who still is valuable). There is considerable difference in playing 3rd vs SS...some guys can handle it...some not. I don't think it's an automatic that Druby can play 3rd. Secondly, I wouldn't break up the chemistry of the middle infielders who turn DP's as well as anybody in the league. I think we are 1 year away from the trade Druby and bring up Lindor move.
  • vball10set
Druby has trade value, Chiz not so much. I agree that Lindor's a year away, but if we can get a quality player(s) for Druby now, we should pull the trigger...jmo.

Rumor was we could have gotten Garza for Chiz. Rumor being a buddy of mine texting me....'we turned down Garza for Lonnie straight up!?!?'.

I hadn't heard of that but I didn't bother to look it up. Next day he was in Texas.

Damn, now why'd you have to go and tell me that :(

I think that rumor only came about when the Texas deal originally hit a wall (which they completed a couple days later). I think the Cubs were looking to trade him to Texas the whole time once they started getting into serious negotiations. I doubt the Garza for Lonnie thing, even IF true, was substantially realistic.
