That's why he should play every day and Mark Reynolds should wear out the butt of his pants riding the pine.

I think that's what all of us want

Three guys with great at bats in the 11th.

Hits..where you at? Should have sacrificed right there.

No telling the bunt wouldn't have worked also. But don't compare a veteran like Raburn with a "rookie" like Chisenhall.

I have no idea what the point is here that you are attempting to make. Are you saying a rookie should bunt but a veteran should swing away? LMAO

The argument made last time was that the bunt was/was not the right play based on who was batting, not because of percentages and stats. In that case, it was the same thing with Chisenhall up. I don't trust Chiz to not fuck up, so the bunt was the right move to me. I do trust Raburn to at least move the runners along, so swinging away was the right move.

Reps to you both, and you gotta' feel bad for Kluber...again!!!

You could have, but probably the right call was made not only given the outcome, but the circumstances. A Raburn sacrifice would have brought up Brantley who would have been walked and now you are to the bottom of the order (8and 9 hitters) to deliver the win. ...ugh.

Compleyely different situation when a sacrifice and a walk would have turned the batting order to the top.

The choice to bunt is is based on circimstances and the people involved.

Big thanks to Ron Washington for leaving in his relief pitcher in for a third inning...the guy's longest stint in 2+ years.

    I would have bunted also.

Remember earlier in the year against Seattle with Gomes up. He tried to sac bunt before going 0-2 and smoking a walk off 3 run HR to win.

The pitch prior, the infield was moving expecting the bunt. If you have faith in your hitter and he's a decent contact hitter....and you believe the infield will be moving on the wheel play again.....you swing away. That's what Tito chose to do. It was the right decision....this time.
  • TBone14
    I disagree with the decision.

It is like going for it on 4th down. The manager is judged on the decision based on the outcome...rather than the actual decision. If Raburn hits a grounder to the pitcher and he cuts the runner down at 3rd....we are MURDERING Tito on here. But he didn't. He hit a home run...so all of a sudden his decision was good?

Bad decision in my opinion. Great result. Bunt next time. The only way I could be persuaded...is that bunting takes the bat out of Brantley's hands because they would walk him and the Aviles and Stubbs are due up.

Exactly what Tito said postgame, so imo, good decision ;)

I have thought a lot about this and my conclusion is that I would also have bunted because I like the chances better with bases loaded and one out regardless of who is batting.

But, it's a "mute" point now and we are all happy with the result.

The bunt was on. But after seeing Texas put the wheel play on they changed it up. He was actually supposed to slap it, but got a great pitch to hit.

Going to a wedding, so I won't be able to see the game. But hoping Masty is nasty tonight.

    Go Tribe!

I believe the "slap it" was on the third pitch, but Raburn said in his post game interview that the pitch was past him before he could even try. And then the pitch came that made it all moot.

Bourn with a lead off homer.
  • Con_Alma
    Detroit up 2-0.
  • Con_Alma
    Masterful job.

Mr. Clean was nasty tonight. Smith looked like he gave up a 2-run bomb to Beltre, but it died on the warning track in left.

Perez on for the save and hopefully securing another Tribe shutout.
