Anyone know the percentages of passes attempted today versus say 20 years ago? With the way the nfl, then ncaa and nfhs have created rules encouraging teams to pass more. Many of these viscous hits occur on passing plays, just roughly I would guess that the percentage of pass attempts per game have rising sharply. So once again the NFL acts like they want player safety, yet give in to the morons who watch the games who only want points on the board! lol -

Good point on the passes....QB and WR often get destroyed. -

Avoids kickoffs, punts, any chance of injuries on unnecessary plays, etc. -

Quit fucking with the game. I swear, Gooddell is the worst commissioner of them all but gets a pass because the NFL is the most successful by default. He just can't stop screwing with the very nature of the sport. We all know why there's Thursday games now. We all know why there's the late season ability to change game times. We know why the kickoffs are being screwed with.
The problem is, once they do away with kickoffs, there will be a new 'most dangerous play in the NFL' that will be looked at. Then when that one is dealt with, there'll be another one. And another. There always has to be 'the most dangerous play'. Unless they're all the exact same play with the exact same outcome.
A 4th-and-15 is a joke. Want to take kickoffs out of the game. Make scoring more difficult. There will be fewer kickoffs to rough up the players, then. -

if the NFL was really serious about stopping injuries, they would get rid of the helmet and shoulder pads, and then we would have rugby. They need to start teaching people how to tackle instead of just launching your head or shoulder at someone trying to blow them up and end up on a highlight reel. -

They could just punt the ball about 15 feet in the air very softly, and the players would get LIT UP while the ball is in the air -

The onside kick wouldnt happen. You either punt it, or go for the 4th and 15 as a substitute for the onside. -

It's not about the NFL "wanting player safety". There's something to this comment. Look at how the helmets have improved while the should pads continue to decrease in size. It was brought up earlier why they don't, instead of a kickoff, just punt it (like how they do for a safety).
