Giants at Reds, game 5

agreed. The AL hasn't played to their talent levels...especially Texas and the NL was meh. I really was surprised that the Giants got down 2-0, but I think they have the better team for playoff baseball (pitching is everything).gerb131;1293156 wrote:This was the year to win it all the NL is weak as shit and Texas was suppose to be the best and they barely made the playoffs.
You can't leave 42 people on base in 5 games and expect to win. A disappointment indeed. I listened on the radio so I didn't see the balls or strikes but regardless Hanigan needs to swing. Also you don't leave the likely ROY on the bench for a gentleman.
Game 3 was sad, we rolled over in 4 and it bit us in 5.
Oh well... -

Agreed, easily the better playoff team. -

Reds pitching was better that the Giants this year. By a lot. So...wes_mantooth;1293454 wrote:agreed. The AL hasn't played to their talent levels...especially Texas and the NL was meh. The Reds just shit the bed. There was no excuse for not winning game 3. None. The Giants had one fucking hit through 9 innings and still won the damn game. -
justincredibleAlso, lots of nice trolling in this thread.

Playoff baseball is a whole different animal. I would take that goofball Matt Cain over anything the Reds have. The Reds just remind of me of the Minnesota twins of a few years ago.justincredible;1293471 wrote:Reds pitching was better that the Giants this year. By a lot. So...

justincredibleMore on the pitching. Reds team ERA was a third of a run better than the Giants playing 81 games in GABP while the Giants play 81 games in AT&T. I believe the Giants were below average in ERA+ while the Reds were almost at the top. I can't seem to find those rankings, though.
The Reds pitching staff was FAR AND AWAY better than San Fran this season. The Reds just choked. Simple as that. -

Reds beat Cain in game 1 pretty easily. They didn't do shit against Bumgarner in the regular season but handed it to him in game 2.wes_mantooth;1293488 wrote:Playoff baseball is a whole different animal. Heretic
Looking at the stats for SF's pitching this season, I'd say the main differences were that the Reds didn't have a starter as bad as Lincecum was this season AND they didn't have a reliever who got as many appearances with mediocre stats like Hensley (4.62 era, 1.58 whip in 60 games). And Hensley didn't play in the series, while Lincecum was basically untouchable in a relief role, which essentially negated that advantage.justincredible;1293489 wrote:More on the pitching. No doubt they choked. You won't convince me that they are better playoff team than SF, but you get up 2-0 with 3 shots at home...you gotta close it out.justincredible;1293489 wrote:More on the pitching. Not really that convinced. If I was a betting man, I easily would have chosen the Giants.wes_mantooth;1293496 wrote:No doubt they choked. You won't convince me that they are better playoff team than SF, but you get up 2-0 with 3 shots at home...you gotta close it out. -
justincredibleFeel free to piss on us while we're down. If the Reds had won this series you wouldn't be in here claiming the Giants were the better team. Hindsight is 20/20 and it's easy to be "right" after the fact. And I'll refrain from taking shots at the Indians because that's not my style.

The indians have nothing to do with this series. I never said the red suck. They are a pretty good team, they just weren't the best team in the playoffs imo. Not trying to piss on the reds.justincredible;1293504 wrote:Feel free to piss on us while we're down. If the Reds had won this series you wouldn't be in here claiming the Giants were the better team. justincredibleIt's just I never see you guys in Reds threads. Ever. And now they are eliminated and you're going on and on about how much better the Giants were. Just seems like a "kicking us while we're down" kind of thing.

No use pissing on the Indians...the Dolan's have pissed all over the city for years.justincredible;1293504 wrote:Feel free to piss on us while we're down. Interesting. Sounds like something Browns/Cleveland fan have complaining about for a while.justincredible;1293511 wrote:It's just I never see you guys in Reds threads. Ever. Commander of AwesomeReds fans have to be scratching their heads after Latos's meltdown. Reds gave up a lot to get him in hopes of him pushing them to the next level. Really have to question the front office and the desperation move considering everything the Reds gave up to get him only to have him ruin their run in the playoffs. I also have to question what the hell Dusty was thinking keeping him out there. I'll give the Reds some credit though, they got pretty far considering their lack of talent. Wouldn't expect them to be back in the playoffs next season though without some major changes.

No way, this wasn't on Latos. He's a young guy with tons of talent and had an outstanding season and saved our asses in game 1. He should have never been put in the situation of pitching to Posey with the bases loaded. Posey took him deep in game 1 in a giant park. He was showing signs of fatigue. LeCure should've been brought in to face Buster.Commander of Awesome;1293519 wrote:Reds fans have to be scratching their heads after Latos's meltdown. And LOL at lack of talent. One of the best overall pitching staffs in baseball. Votto, Phillips, Ludwick, Bruce, Hanigan were all among the best at their positions. -

Yeah too bad Francona is already off the market, he's exactly what you need in a Manager. Maybe Acta would be interested in the job?justincredible;1293522 wrote:No way, this wasn't on Latos.
