You've just been watching too much ESPN and theyve been telling you how amazing he is and you eat it up (2). Hes a solid player, but excuse me for not going gaga over a career bench player averaging like 13 3 n 3 (3). When he plays an entire season as a starter not being aided by playing against 2nd teamers and having teams worry about 2 other superstars on his team, then maybe ill agree hes a great player. Until then ill wait to proclaim him as great
LOL tearing this to pieces is going to be fun. Your post is full of so much ignorance. Let's begin.

    (1) Last years stats
James Harden: 21.13 PER, 21.5 points per 40, 20.2 usage rate 39% from 3, 49% fg, assist percentage 19.6 Offensive rating of 125, defensive rating of 105--4th in NBA in True Shooting, 9.3 win shares

Brandon Jennings: 18.46 PER, 21.6 points per 40, 24.9 usage rate 33% from 3, 41% fg assist percentage 26.7 Offensive rating of 106, defensive rating of 107--197th in TS, 5.5 win shares

Those two seasons are nowhere near as close as the limited statistics you cite are. Use some actually useful metrics, and your argument fails.

    (2) So your argument now consists of blindly assuming that my argument is based on the fact I watch too much ESPN. Excuse me while I laugh my f*cking ass off. First of all I hate ESPN barely watch it, although I find Hollinger and the truehoops guys to be much more useful than most of ESPN's crew. You want to bring up ESPN? Fine. Their NBA analysts, along with 106 total others, created a list you may of heard of called NBA Rank. This isn't some bullsh*t list, it's 106 NBA experts who actually their time to analyze the list. James Harden sits at 26. Brandon Jennings? 61. FWIW, I don't need them to tell me what my eyes have told me for 6 years. James Harden is an unstoppable beast. I've watched 95% of his games since he was drafted by the Thunder, and my argument is based on the complete and utter efficiency in which he plays, which I've seen now for nearly 240 of the 265 times he's taken the floor in an NBA game.

(3). Yes, because the stats that he scored 3 years ago are so relevant to the argument of him being a top 25 player today

So a bunch of NBA experts rate him 26 and you still think he's a top 25 player worth an 80 million dollar contact.

    Nut hug much?

Harden last year: 16 ppg, 4rb, 3as, 1 steal per game.

That's not "much difference". Not to mention Westbrook dropped 43 on the Heat in the Finals.
I'd look at both of their per 36 minute averages on basketball-reference.com to compare them.

    Harden 19.3 p, 4.2 a, 4.7 rb
    Westbrook 24.1 p, 5.6 a, 4.6 rb

I don't like using just those limited stats, but yeah, I'd say RW is better

Sleeper I still haven't seen a counter argument from you, just a bunch of fluffery. Although I guess thats your MO on here. Instigate arguments without substance. You should just change your name to Skip Bayless.

    1. You're gonna use Hollingers PER as a focal point of your argument. The same PER rankings that have Milsap, Faried and Greg Monroe as top 20 players? Sounds like a solid backing for you

    2. Great he sits at 26 and Ive said multiple times that Jennings doesnt rank top 25, but that Harden isnt top 25 either and was comparing a player with similar stats. So congratulations on backing me that Harden isnt top 25 according to the experts on the subject

    3. Body of work tends to factor into determining how good a player is. I understand how hard that is to grasp for you
  • gport_tennis
He Shot the ball ten more times a game, of course he scored more points. Doesn't mean he was more efficient.

Westbrook was absolutely more effective in the finals. Harden sucked a fat one for sure. Probably the reason why they didn't resign him if you ask me.

They are both top 25 players with westbrook probably a couple spots higher...for now

When someone says someone is a top 25 player in the NBA they can mean one of 2 things: they have one of the 25 best career resumes/body of work in the league, or they are one of the 25 best basketball players in the league. There is definitely overlap in those 2 defintions, but not complete overlap.

James Harden does not fall into the former category. Anyone who says he doesn't fall in the latter is clearly unaware of how immensely talented he is and needs to watch him play more than just watching highlights (or lowlights).

I think LA getting Howard pretty much made it impossible for them not to re-sign Ibaka.. so it was Westbrook or Harden.

I think it also had to do with the fact there's a lot of overlap in the skillsets of RW/KD/JH--the Thunder didn't necessary need another 1/2 hybrid in Harden because they had one in RW, they would benefit more from a pure SG and Kevin Martin has been filling that role well for them. Plus because they got Maynor back from injury, they could afford to get rid of one of their hybrid guards if they refused to sign Harden to a max deal.

And he also didn't play with Durant and Westbrook.

I was confused reading this, then I realized you were talking Bout Jennings. I was talking about westbrook taking 10 more shots a game.

I've posted stats; you just don't like what they have to say. LOL

Wish I had a channel that got this Miami-Denver game. And Indiana-Sacramento. And Brooklyn-Toronto.

NBA outside of the Cavs will probably mean shit to me until the playoffs by Thanksgiving, but the first couple of weeks are always exciting.

I get real bad streams on my laptop from my present locale. Unfortunately the power at my home base for wireless connection is still out 5 days after the fact, but I guess that's what happens when a category 1 hurricane almost hits Ohio.

Damn that blows. I'm thinking about getting league pass, just not sure if I want to spend the money.

Looks like Dino is killing them.

    Bosh with 40

LeBron 1 away from a triple double

    Ray Ray shooting

    DWade less than great
  • Ironman92
Mullens sucking shooting again tonight...OJ Mayo lighting it up with 21 just into the 3rd. Collison with 16

I might order league pass once football season ends. I would spend 95% of my time watching the CFB games or the Cavs anyway tonight. Lot of good finishes though, even though it looks like all of the favorites (home teams) are gonna win.

    Miami seals the comeback win.

    Dino was 3/17 shooting.
