I didn't see the play....but Hammy confirmed the guy was dead. You can definitely make an assumption on a play like that. The only time you can't assume something is a DP...which is one of the dumbest rules in baseball.Laley23;1197605 wrote:They really called that first run unearned?
While the dude was dead with a good throw from Santana, you cant assume it. Cueto easily scores on the Votto groundout, I would think. That run should be earned. -

Jeanmar was drafted in the same round as I was. Just a little hint there.wes_mantooth;1197520 wrote:Actually, I have no idea. I can't keep track of all the terrible moves this organization has made. -

That is interesting....I never heard that before when applied to a pick off -

That may be true, I have no clue, but it is not ever interpreted that way. A good throw nails a lot of guys stealing. But they arent given errors when the guy is safe. Was he going to be out? Probably. Was he stuck in the middle of 1st and 2nd? No. He was diving back. He wouldve been out by less than a foot, hardly "dead". That run should be earned, no doubt about it.Footwedge;1197906 wrote:I didn't see the play....but Hammy confirmed the guy was dead. You can definitely make an assumption on a play like that. Like I said...I didn't see the play. Hamilton said the guy was going to be out. The official scorer agreed with Hamilton. If that's the case. then the run has to be unearned.Laley23;1197942 wrote:That may be true, I have no clue, but it is not ever interpreted that way. A good throw nails a lot of guys stealing. Case in point. Sac fly with one out...and the throw beats the runner, but the catcher drops the ball...it is an error and an unearned run. This play...same scenario...other than who receives the error. -

Are you somehow saying that if a guy drops the throw when the runner was going to be out...it is not ruled an error? Really?wes_mantooth;1197927 wrote:That is interesting....I never heard that before when applied to a pick off
When a guy is thrown out at second on a steal attempt...only to have the SS drop the ball...it is always ruled an error as in every single time. -
ohiobucks1Going to the game tomorrow.

No, I wasn't being a smartass, I had never seen this happen....or at least paid attention to the official scoring on it. Even though I am sure it is fairly common -
Glory Days
I dont think i have ever seen that either.Footwedge;1197988 wrote:Are you somehow saying that if a guy drops the throw when the runner was going to be out...it is not ruled an error? Really?

Unless he was pitching for Colorado. Lolzzzzz.wes_mantooth;1197776 wrote:Except for Jimenez...he would already have thrown 120 pitches. -

...and Gomez did. He was taken out of the game with his team solidly in the game. In contrast, the bullpen gave up 5 runs in 4 innings.I expect ANY starter to be able to go more than 5 innings.
Other than the the closer and set up guys, the rest of the pen has been spotty at best. -

This. I think people over estimate the tribe bullpen.HitsRus;1198098 wrote:...and Gomez did. He was taken out of the game with his team solidly in the game. In contrast, the bullpen gave up 5 runs in 4 innings.

Crimson streakWhen we have the lead we have possibly a top 3 bullpen in the league but when we're losing it's a bottom 3 bullpen lol
-
HitsRusactually I was wrong ...the BP gave up 5 runs in 3 innings...the Reds didn't have to bat in the 9th.
-
Laley23
He kept us in the game, but he couldnt make it past the 5th. That sucks. It isnt horrible like giving up 6 runs and only going 5. But it isnt good.HitsRus;1198098 wrote:...and Gomez did. Con_Almaooops, thanks.
-
Con_AlmaBunt singles and power from Kipnis.
You don't see a lot of #3 hitters bunting. -
Con_Alma20 game hitting streak now for Brantley
-
wildcats20Brantley seems to be really come around, eh?
-
Con_AlmaHe's been locked in for a while now.
Damon had to be looking curve ball there. -
Glory Daysbases loaded 0 outs and we score 1 on a fielders choice....
-
Con_AlmaLowe is all over the place. 2 walks have contributed to 2 runs.

Laley23Our pitching is really weak. If we are in contention, Id rather they get a pitcher than a bat. But a RH power bat would be nice.
