Although I wouldn't count him out of playing in it.
yeah Witten is a tough SOB, but I think I'd rather him just sit it out.

Cowboys are gonna be screwed. Witten injury and one of the worst O-Line's in the game. Romo will be lucky to play the whole season.

As far as the spleen thing, was listening to Kirwan or Sirius XM yesterday. Had a caller call in with a medical background. Guess that's why they don't let kids with mono play. Besides the obvious fatigue, I guess the spleen could burst due to swelling due to the mono.

    To
    NFL Fans:

Like you, we are ready to get “Back to Football.” And like you, we want to
help ensure that young athletes participating in sports this fall are playing
    safely.

The health and safety of players at all levels of the game is
our first priority. Among our most important initiatives is helping athletes and
their coaches know the signs and symptoms of concussion; and what to do if they
suspect an athlete has a head injury. Through the leadership of our NFL Head,
Neck and Spine Committee and partnerships with organizations like the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we are finding new ways to protect
players, adapt to scientific discoveries, and promote a culture of safety.

We applaud USA Football, the sport’s national governing body and the
expert in player development and coaching education, on the launch this week of
its Heads Up Football program, a health and safety resource for parents, coaches
    and players.

As part of Heads Up Football, you can learn about the
importance of properly fitted equipment, prevention and treatment of concussions
from the CDC, youth football rules, and the basics of proper “Heads Up
Tackling.” To learn more, visit usafootball.com.

    We are committed to the
safety of young athletes, no matter what sport they play. This off-season, we
announced our role in a multi-partner youth football helmet replacement program
for underserved communities. The initiative will replace helmets that are 10
years old or older with new helmets at no cost to beneficiary leagues. With our
partners in this campaign, including the NFL Players Association, we committed a
combined total of approximately $1 million to the program, which will provide
thousands of new helmets to youth football players in low-income communities.

With the support of the NFL, youth concussion laws have been passed so
far in 39 states and the District of Columbia, protecting young athletes from
returning to play too soon. We will continue our advocacy for this law in the
    remaining states.

To learn more about our health and safety work for
athletes of the past, present and future, visit nfl.com/evolution and look out for two televised
messages that will debut this season. We join with you in celebrating the return
of the game we all love. Here’s to a safe and exciting season.

Darn shame too. I was hoping he could get back but he just doesn't look right he showed some good things early. Maybe they will pick him back up.

This is the first time I've really sat down and watched Andrew Luck, but the hype is totally legit. It's only one drive against the Steelers second string but has fantastic touch and great awareness. Will have his rough moments but will be a top 5-10 QB soon enough IMO.

Didn't see last night but his first game against the Rams was unreal. I tossed out that little dumpoff on his first pass to Brown that went for a TD too. Based what I saw strictly off his down the field throws and was VERY impressed.

Off topic but I laughed when I saw that one Redskins writer said there could be a "QB controversy" in DC after watching RGIII struggle and Kirk Cousins light up their opponents 2nd team D for almost 300 yards & 3 TD's.
  • Tiernan
Didn't see it myself but NY sportswriters are crucifying Sanchez after Sat night implode and saying Tebow could be the starter come Sept. God I hope so, watching the Jets totally self destruct will even be more fun than it was last year.

The Redskins, even if RGIII turns out to be greatest QB ever, are screwed. Way too much to give up for a QB.

Tannehill and Locker both named week 1 starters today.
  • Automatik
I just caught that Vick hit from last night.....so stupid.

Over/under how many games he starts? I'm going with 10 and under.
  • bigdaddy2003
I made the bold prediction in the NFL predictions thread that he wouldn't play in all 16 games. Ha considering he's only played one full season since he entered the league it wasn't bold obviously but I'm going to agree with your pick Automatik.

Russell Wilson getting the start over Matt Flynn for seattle's 3rd preseason game.
  • gorocks99
Should be interesting to see how Wilson performs against the first-teamers. He has certainly been putting up very good numbers against 2nd string defenses. I still think Flynn is the starter for week 1, but Wilson is doing everything he can to push him.

Redskins are gonna make bank after they trade Cousins here in a year or two.

    I'll go over the 10.*

*unless his injury report comes back more serious than it looked.

    A. Luck has looked very comfortable so far.

Gorocks, do you have any clue how much work Cedric Benson will get this season?

My guess is he'll be their starter, assuming he can get the pass protection down, but that he'll probably play around 40% of snaps, with Green and Starks splitting the other carries. Haven't heard a lot about him from practice but they've been practicing in shells so he hasn't been getting hit or anything yet. I think Thursday night's game will give an indication as to where he stands.

I figured he may end up being their starter but wasn't sure how much they liked Starks. I noticed he was available in one of my fantasy leagues and if he's healthy he's pretty good so I figured I'd pick him up if he was going to be the starter.

Keep in mind for fantasy purposes that the GB starting RB isn't all that great, no matter who it is. Goal line carries go to Kuhn, Rodgers, or are (more likely) a throw.
