Obviously only preseason but damn did Andrew Luck look good today. Poised in the pocket and very accurate.

As @JayGlazer reported, Dolphins have released WR Chad Johnson.

If he comes to NE and has a randy moss type revival I'd be pretty happy.

Yeah, he did look good. I just thought it was funny that the NFL Network was basically saying he was going to be Peyton Manning because they both threw touchdown passes on their first preseason pass.

Nice pick up. I'm not a big fan of Starks.

No doubt. I didnt watch a lot of Jets' games but I seem to remember him playing alright last year.

He's old - but I think he'd hold his own since he wouldn't be the 1 or 2 guy. Lloyd, Welker, Gronk, Hernandez and Plax would be a solid receiving core.

Plax had 8 TDs last year. Still a tall and athletic redzone threat that I'm sure Tom Brady could turn into a 26 year old again.

Which is why I want Jerry Jones to stop accepting the shitty back-up receivers Dallas has and pony up for Plax.

TP in with the 3's tonight in Oakland, looking pretty good.

pony up? I wouldn't break the bank for him - but a small 1 year deal i would.

Haven't really been watching much preseason football, but how have the replacement refs been doing?

I look at it this way - if you haven't heard anything about them, then they're doing just fine. You'd hear about it if they were fucking up pretty bad. That's my take anyways.
  • Pick6
They suck balls. If you haven't heard about them, you probably haven't watched many game highlights. Almost always brought up. They call some dumb stuff and miss big penaltys. The announcers are always complaining about them

They are fucking terrible. It's a joke watching them out there. It is going to suck if they are actually refing meaningful games. The players lockout last year was bad... but I think this will be even worse if they don't end up getting a deal done.

what i meant was that jerry has gone on record saying he would only look if he has an injury. the guys they have are better off injured.

In my opinion. Not well. The problem is the level that they took these guys from. Very, very few of them every were at the NCAA D1 level before this. Most are D3 guys that where past over for the next level.

My question is why did they skip the D1 exp guys?

correct me if i'm wrong SoaU, but i believe because the D1 guys didn't want to piss off the other officials so they could get a real shot at being an NFL official, not just a scab.

Most D1 leagues are run by former and some current NFL officials. Some of the D2 and even D3 conferences are feeder leagues to those D1 leagues. Yes, don't piss off your bosses.

The guys (and woman) working as a scab should not expect to be re-hired back to the NCAA conference that they were working in before they crossed the line.

Witten might be out for the 1st game with a spleen injury... that would not be good for the Cowboys.

I dont even have to read anything to know what play it was. It was when Romo scrambled, almost got tackled inside the 5, then threw it to Witten for a 2yd loss. Could tell soon as he got up he was hurt.

    ESPN says it's "serious"

Does that mean life threatening serious (probably not this) or football serious (as in could miss a significant amount of time)?

It could be life-threatening, but he will be alright with rest. He ruptured his spleen. Took a nice hit. I'm hearing he will probably only miss the first game.
  • trackandccrunner
Yeah what Pick6 said... with an internal organ unless you rest it and let it heal it can be life-threatening but obviously Witten got medical attention so it was found and he knows to rest... at worst he should be fine and will probably only miss the first game. Although I wouldn't count him out of playing in it.
