2012 MLB Random Chatter

Not a bad first round when 3 (with a potential still for it to be all 4) series go the full 5 games.
  • IggyPride00
Nats would probably love to have had Strasburg available for a decisive game 5 at home.
  • Rotinaj
    YES GFY CARDS!!!!!
  • ts1227
BAL and NYY to the 11th again tonight
  • Classyposter58
Boy JV is on tonight. Hopefully they can get a few more runs and ice this one
  • ts1227
Baltimore gets the leadoff guy on in the 12th and Joba gets drilled by a piece of broken bat to boot. Looks like he got nailed in the funny bone.

Looks like he will stay in EDIT: nope, huge ass welt/swell developed and they aren't risking it
  • ts1227
Orioles take a 2-1 lead in the top of the 13th

Detroit is plastering Oakland 6-0 in the 7th
  • ts1227
And we have yet another game 5 tomorrow. Orioles win 2-1 in 13

Every LDS went 5 games this year.
  • Classyposter58
Wow who is this Detroit team? They came out p*ssed off that this series has gone another game and it's showing. Lets see if we've got HF for the next round now
  • wghfan
Oakland chokin it up tonight. If your going to beat the Angels out of a playoff spot, fuckin do something about it. They can not even win one series here.
  • wghfan
Still waiting for this A's magic, everyone talks about? The A's put up a big fat zero tonight.

Lol. They faced Justin Verlander twice.
  • Azubuike24
Are people really bashing the A's? It's a miracle they made the playoffs to begin with...
  • IggyPride00
What a luxury that is to be able to trot Verlander out there in a big game like that needing a win.

    9 innings, 11 K's, 4 Hits and 0 runs.

That is why you pay an ace $20+ million right there.
  • Rotinaj
Hmm, upon sleeping on what happened last night i still come to the conclusion that everyone aside from ludwick and BP can GFT. SON OF A BITCH!!!!!!!! Now its on to hoping ANYONE aside from the Cards win it all.
  • Heretic
Too bad the Angels let themselves get beat out of a playoff spot?

agreed. That is a top notch front office that doesn't get to spend much money
  • Azubuike24
Orioles, Athletics, Reds and we can throw in the Brewers and Rays. Solid organizations but not big markets. It doesn't mean they don't spend, because it does take some spending to compete. However, for many of these teams the periods where they can pony up the dough goes up and down. The key is putting together a group of guys you develop, acquire in trades, sign for a good price and others who you develop and retain once they become good. It has to be the right blend and if you're weak in one of those departments, you won't have a chance.

The Reds are one of the bottom 12 markets in MLB. Next year, their payroll will be nearly or over 100 million. Does that mean all of the sudden the market got bigger and they are a "big market" team? No. They have identified a window where they can compete however and have timed that with trades, contract extensions, free agent signings and increased payroll.

Verlander didn't score those 6 runs though

Verlander giving up 0 is much more impressive than scoring 6 runs in a game.

Yeah...but Verlander is an ace's ace.

    Great start by the Nationals

Werth double, Harper triple, Zimmerman HR

Then Wainright got locked in so we'll see if they can add on.....the Cardinals certainly won't go away.
  • Crimson streak
Bruce Harper going off tonight a triple and a hr. 4-0 Nats in the 3rd
  • Ironman92
Harper is owning this huge game.

Saw on Buster Olney's twitter that Harper had the 2 fastest HR trots in MLB this season and the quickest average trip around the bases.

For all the stuff you heard in the minors....he's playing this game with incredible fire.
